They quickly cut a small custom mat and backing and even put it in the frame for me. The results were professional-looking and the cost was very reasonable. As a photographer who enters competitive shows, where all entries must be framed for judging, I've become pretty creative at "re-purposing" frames and mats. Were I a frame shop to make and sell frames, I'd lose money on an account like me. But Beards always treats me as if I am bringing a Rembrandt in for a simple mat or to buy just a new piece of glass. I may pay a buck or two more than other shops, but they always treat me well with quality work and done on time (That's important! Often, there isn't much time between notice that my entries qualified for the show and when I have to drop off the entries). read more

Super nice quality work, really friendly staff. They're a solid, reputable business. But I will not go back for two reasons. First, having to wait four weeks for two small items to be framed (nothing fancy, either) isn't reasonable. Second, the prices are crazy high: $400+ for two small items? Ridiculous! I want better turn-around for less. read more

This is an awesome place! We went there originally after visiting Michael's for custom framing and getting frustrated. So we decided to give Beards a try...WOW...this is the Nordstrom of framing. Their prices are better than most of Michaels sales prices. You can give Shannon or Angie a budget and they will work with you. We have been going there about 8 years. We have entrusted priceless family treasures with them. From a Soldiers Record from the Civil War to a Japanese Soldier Flag from Word War ii. Both sent for cleaning and restoration. On the flag we were told to have it pressed and leave it alone. So we did. Shannon then mounted and framed it so well that it survived beautifully on a trip to Japan. WOW!!! Just left with the greatest feeling in my heart. Such great customer service. Ms. Shannon just spent about 10 minutes of her day helping me put my plaque back together after it was broken during a move. She did above and beyond by cleaning the glass and removing scratches from the frame. I just retired from the military and am living in the area now. Over the past 20 years, my wife & I have had over 100 items framed at four different stores in Olympia & Lacey. The work done at three of those stores in the first 10 years was often pretty good but sometimes not, and interactions with store personnel were frequently frosty when we pressed them to correct mistakes or account for overdue orders. We've never once had a similar problem at Beard's Framing in Lacey, and consequently that's where we've brought all our framing business for the past 10 years--including complex archival work involving multiple mats, spacer bars, V-grooves, etc. Shannon & Angelina have always been affable, helpful, industrious and dependable, and prices are quite reasonable.
