We bring our two young sons (ages 2 and 6) to Eliezer, and every single visit reminds us why we trust him. He is incredibly kind, patient, and pays attention to every detail. Our youngest will only sit through his appointment if he has a lollipop, and Eliezer always remembers and has one ready for him without us even asking. Our oldest struggles with sitting still in general, but with Eliezer, he feels comfortable. He's patient enough to give him little breaks when he needs them and still manages to give him a perfect haircut every time. I took my 4 year old son with sensory issues to Beardsley barber shop today for the first time after receiving a referral from a friend. We saw Derek and he was incredible. My son is terrified of haircuts and we have never been able to successfully complete a haircut in one sitting at any other salon or barber shop. Derek was so kind, patient ,and understanding of my son's needs and we were able to get a great haircut in. Derek took so much time to make sure my son was comfortable and didn't rush force too much on him. My son absolutely LOVES Beardsley's Barber Shop, and especially his new, but forever barber, Trim. Trim was kind, attentive, and welcoming to my 8 year old who wanted a haircut that he had never had before. The after picture is epic and my son feels and looks amazing. My son said "I'm never going to anyone else but Trim, he's so cool!" I really appreciate how quickly Trim was able to get my son in for an appointment... He was well overdue for a haircut. All of the staff in the shop were so friendly and genuine. Even my daughter, who is little, felt welcome and like she could be herself... Beardsley's has a non-intimidating, family feel to it. I saw all the positive reviews so I decided to give this shop a try. Usually I stay away from franchised hair places. First, the barber shop is nice and so is the staff. They especially cater to young people reluctant to get their hair cut. On the flip side, this is the worst haircut I have ever received. To me, a good haircut can hold its shape six weeks. This one doesn't look good, even using some wax cannot save this cut. It looks terrible straight away. I couldn't tell how much was cut, because they have vacuums on their razors so you can't gauge anything by watching the hair fall. I asked for more off the sides but they spent a half hour cutting maybe 1/4 inch off my hair. I like a barber that knows how to cut hair with a razor, only going to a scissors when they absolutely have to. They missed areas on my head, it doesn't lay right brushed back or forward. I will go get another cut in two weeks and find someplace else. Very disappointing. read more

I came back for another last minute cut with Trim. His coworker helped with a slight language barrier and I could see him checking up even while doing a cut himself. After getting a horrible cut from my last barber, I was reluctant when it came that time for another hair cut. Looking for a new barber can be difficult, but I'm glad I found my boy Trim. When I tell you that he does not miss, that is an understatement. I swear whenever I go in for a cut with Trim, every single time it is the crispiest fade I think I've ever gotten. Mack, "the intern", did a great job cutting my hair! I wanted to try something a little different from my normal cut and he was on board. He was kind, efficient and thoughtful when it came to what look I was trying to accomplish and made sure we were both in the same page. I could not be more happy with the result! I've had cuts from other barbers both local and when traveling, but got the best looking cut I've ever had from Beardsley's. I took my brother here after seeing many excellent posts about them on our town's Facebook page called "What's Happening in St. Charles?" While I already have my own stylist, I can definitely acknowledge talent when I see it. Throughout the entire haircut, they were educational, conversational and extremely thorough! Nowadays, you can take your kids to SportsClips and pay $8 to have it rushed and ruined.. so why not come here for $10 more and pay for a QUALITY haircut while also supporting a local business. I've been bringing my son here for 3 years. This is where he asks me to bring him. My son gets a pretty unique hair cut. I always have to provide a photo and explain. I use the same person every time, so we get the same great results. The one time I allowed a different person to cut his hair, was the one time he got a bad cut, but it's hair, and his grows faster than most. They have video gaming systems to entertain or occupy yourself while you wait, but we've never had the time, and my son's probably only played once or twice. read more

I was very confused with my whole experience. I thought I'd try them out for the first time because most places were booked. I called and they had an appointment open. I made the appointment for a beard trim and a head shave. When I got there, they put me with a different person rather than who I booked the appointment with. I thought, whatever, maybe he went home sick or something. He trimmed my beard, it was fine. Then he said he didn't have time for the shave because his next appointment was already there. That's my fault? I specifically made the appointment to include the shave. I would've went somewhere else if I had known they we're going to finish what I booked. The only reason why I gave 2 stars is because it was quick and cheap. If I'm in a rush or need a last minute trim, I may stop in. Other than that, I probably won't go back. Friendly, fast, and hospitable... Derek turned on my son's favorite show, and he loved it as he was a little nervous going to new place. The cut he gave was just as ordered, maybe even better. (On a side note, there is a customer who comes all the from Huntley to see Derek - over 30 minutes, at least - speaks volumes in my book.) In addition to the TV, they've got a foosball table and chess, and there is talk of expanding out the back to make it more comfortable and entertaining for waiting customers. There are other places to get haircuts, but you'd be hard-pressed to find one that is more customer-attentive than Beardsley's. Was in town staying with relatives and in need of a haircut and beard trim. It was between this place or one other and luckily this place was not only cheaper but also closer and I was able to walk in without an appointment and get taken care of within 30 minutes. Ironically, right after I sat down in the chair, more and more people started coming in some I got there just in time. The barber was very professional and friendly and I was confident that I was in good hands since I had no prior knowledge of this place. Not a single thing was overlooked. Went here as a first time client last week, based on others' yelp reviews. My teenage son is quite particular now on how he styles his hair, along with who cuts it. He was very happy to work with Tim, who he says he did a great job of listening to exactly what he wanted, observed the photo that my son showed him on how he wanted his hair styled and trimmed , and left a very satisfied customer. I believe we finally found our place that both my son and I can agree upon, and stop the arguing of who, how, and when his hair is going to be cut every two months or less. I just moved here from Phoenix where I had a consistently phenomenal barbershop that I could rely on. I searched Yelp for a local shop and found Beardsley's and their many positive reviews. I was intrigued and figured that I needed a quick trim and a beard trim (the beard was not very attractive prior to entering the shop). Tim cut my hair and asked my preference for the back hairline, which I appreciated. The beard trim was on point and he cleaned it up as much as possible with it being in its early stages, not taking away from its overall length. The thing that impresses me about the beard trim is that the lines are consistent and even--I've seen too many beard trims go bad because of uneven lines or an inconsistent look on the cheek and jawline. Overall, I was extremely pleased to have stopped in. Tim and Anthony were great guys and provided excellent service.
