Got a skin fade and a light trim off the top, great conversation the whole time and exactly the cut I wanted. Walk in only, cash only, three chairs. Brad works alone Mondays and Tuesdays, and has two other barbers on other days. They're open early on Saturday mornings, (7am-2pm) which is cool for those who need to knock out the haircut chore early on the weekend. I'll definitely be making Brad my regular barber. read more

Saw "shaves" on the window and decided to go in for just that. The younger barber in the middle chair (he said he'd been working there a week) knew his craft. The shave was comfortable and mostly close. He used a foil razor to clean up a couple of spots which caused some irritation but it was no big deal. The only thing that would have made it a five-star shave would have been more hot lather and less whatever oil he was using. I'd go back without hesitation. The conversation was good and all the barbers were very friendly. It's a great old-school barber shop. A guy in the next chair was getting his haircut and he looked great. Brad has cut my hair three times now, and every time has been exactly what I wanted. No, I take that back, it came out better than what I wanted. He is a true master of his craft, and at 29 bucks a pop, it is well worth it. This last time I went in, it was right before closing time, so he got me in and out in about ten minutes--and the quality of the cut did not suffer a bit. Let me start off by saying, I'm very picky about who I let cut my hair...I've tried a few barber shops in the area, and after a few bad cuts I found my way to Men's Esquire West and have never looked back. It is an old school barber shop that has never failed to impress me. There is always one or two people in the shop no matter what time of day you swing by. Obviously I am not the only one who trusts them in the St Charles area. I have been going there for 1 year, and typically stop by every 3-4 weeks to keep things looking presentable. What I really like about this place is after 1-2 trips in they remembered my name, and exactly how I would like my hair cut without needing to remind them. They make sure the lines are straight by finishing every hair cut with a straight razor shave. Two draw backs to the place: 1) They do not take appointments, only walk ins. I would try calling before you head down there to check what the wait looks like. They have always been upfront about how many people are there. 2) Cash Only! Not a big deal as there are ATMs near by, but becomes an inconvenience if you aren't prepared. Highly recommend asking for Rob, he has the first chair inside the door. I have been a customer for 25 years over that time barbers have always been top quality for every service. I would plan ahead and make an appointment every 3-4 weeks. I went in my normal time on Friday and it was 1 and 1/2 hours wait. Unfortunately I do not have 2 hours to sit in the barbershop so I left. Came back Saturday morning 10 minutes prior to opening and it was 3 bodies deep. Up to 2 months ago you were able to make appointments and as of now the owner changed it to walk ins only. If you like spending 2 hours at a barber shop this place is for you. I will be finding some place along with 3 generation of my family. Owner has no loyalty to customer base. read more

It's now 7/9/22 and something really bad has recently happened to what was once a great men's barbershop. Their great barber left. He's gone about 2 weeks ago. In his place is a nice guy who gave me the worse haircut I have ever, really ever had. I am embarrassed to go outdoors. Several people have commented negatively. I simply asked the new guy to cut my hair, that I liked it on the longer side, to thin it out a bit, not to change its style, anet. Bad. Really really really bad. I'll not go back while he's there. d that it was about 6-weeks from my last Esquire haircut. Instead, he gave me a buzz cut with little hair on the sides of my head! When I showered my hair was so short it just stood out like a Chia Pet. I'll never go bad while he's there. read more
