I've seen them training school-aged and college athletes, soccer moms, pudgy dads, Spartan-racers and everything in between. I do "bootcamp" 5-6 times per week, which is a one-hour, high intensity butt-kicking that can include anything from chin-ups and pushups to tire-flipping and sledgehammers. And squats. Lots of squats. The workouts are flexible and scalable depending on the individual's needs, so a wide range of people can work out together. The trainers all do a great job of understanding the needs of the athletes, and keeping the workouts varied so it doesn't get boring or repetitive. There's great camaraderie among the boot camp crew, and we occasionally go to happy hour at the Riverside Inn, so there's that too.

It is incredibly challenging and you are fatigued yet you feel great enjoyment as felt/experienced in the mind/body/heart After an entire day of teaching, the master, Sifu Paul Koh finally changes into his "casual" clothes to leave the training hall. But he can't leave just yet-he starts correcting a student's posture, form, or telling us a word of wisdom from his decades and decades of study. But he's there at least 6 out of 7 days of the week-why the need to push for more?! This is the dedication that is glaring among Sifu Koh, SiHing Andre and the incredible staff at BLKF. They not only have a truly sincere desire to teach you this system, but to help it benefit you outside the training hall, and consequently have a positive effect on society at large. A tall order? Yes, but with their iron clad loyalty, dedication and sense of duty coupled with the well oiled machine that is Bo Law Kung Fu, I can't imagine it being done any better The dedication trickles down to the students at BLKF-there is something unique about them and it is difficult to describe, but it is a quality crop. The only reason I haven't written a review earlier is because I have so much to say that I didn't know what points to express. I wouldn't be deterred from writing such a review out of fear of "all of NYC" coming, simply because it isn't for all of NYC. Do you have what it takes? Functions more like a cash cow trying to charge $150 for doing a belt test, then when someone fails, they charge $300 the second time. The instructor/sifu runs this place like a business, is a good businessman, but not a good person. Created a belt system for kung fu when there isn't supposed to be just to milk their students for all their money. Avoid.
