My husband and I used Beat Train for DJing and a photobooth at our wedding earlier this year, and they were wonderful to work with throughout the whole process. Eric was our photobooth tech. He showed up early and did a great job. Our guests had a great time with the photobooth and we now have dozens of funny and ridiculous photos of our guests. Sam Turner was our DJ, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Sam struck the rare balance of being simultaneously laid back and reassuring, while also taking the job very seriously -- being prompt and dedicated in everything he did for us. We had complete confidence that he'd do a great job from day one. He consistently went above and beyond what was required. He met with us several times to talk through music. He promptly exchanged emails back and forth, editing our first dance song to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. And, on the day of the wedding, he showed up hours earlier than he needed to so that he could familiarize himself with the space and resolve any lingering issues or questions. Most importantly, everyone at our wedding loved the music. Because we trusted Sam, we gave him some "must play" songs but otherwise told him to play what he thought people would enjoy. Joel was my wedding superstar. From the beautiful, perfectly timed processional to the first dance to the last wonderful drunken sing-along he hit every moment absolutely right. I wanted the ceremony serious and calm and I had some complicated instructions on timing and music. He nailed every single song all the way down to the super obscure Final Fantasy tracks I requested (random, I know). It was also just as important to me that people had fun at the reception and got out of their seats and danced. Can I tell you that there was basically no time at which the dance floor was unoccupied the entire night?? People just wouldn't sit down. Old, young, grouchy - even the "I don't dance" types were up and loving this music all night long. Anyone who has spent over a year planning a wedding knows that hearing that people had a great time is one of the ultimate goals in the whole process (well that and the magic vows exchanging moment). In the last 2 months since our wedding I have heard from over a dozen people that ours was the best wedding they have *ever* been to. Every single one of them mentioned the DJ and the fact that he somehow transformed a wedding reception into an all out dance party suited for absolutely all ages. How he managed this without being cheesy or playing any true dance music I don't really know. But I am so grateful to have found him. I should also mention that Beat Train was open, honest, easy to work with and even helped me to split out some of the cost at the beginning when I was a little tight on cash (Ari is super nice). We hired Beat Train for our son's Bar Mitzvah and we couldn't be happier. We didn't want the typical Bar Mitzvah fare and we didn't want a DJ as entertainer / MC. What we wanted was the kind of music we listen to at home - a little indie rock, some jazz, some electronica, some standards and of course some music we could all dance to. We got that and more. After a initial phone conversation to explain what we wanted, Ari worked with Joel - our DJ - to put together exactly what we had in mind. I had guests pulling me aside to say they couldn't believe they just heard New Order / Daft Punk / Beth Orton / Fountains of Wayne at a Bar Mitzvah party. Joel even played some personal favorites - songs that bring back special memories for our family. Of course the kids got Cha Cha Slide, Gangham Style and whatever else they wanted to keep them jumping up and down. And the grown ups got to get down to the B-52s. Joel was a professional - he took requests from the kids and the adults and kept pretty much everyone happy and moving when they wanted to move and enjoying the party when they didn't. Beat Train is amazing! I 100% recommend using them for your event. My wife and I used them for our wedding in July 2013. After speaking to a rep at beat train, we narrowed the DJ's down to 2 based on our music tastes. We selected Joel in the end. Joel was amazing. He was very easy to work with. We spoke with him on the phone and he also came over to our apartment to make sure everything was all set. We are very particular about music and we can say without a doubt that we made the right call by going with Ari as our wedding DJ. We knew we wanted a DJ but didn't want a stereotypical wedding DJ who would play Top 40 tunes. We wanted the entertainment to be a little edgy and if that's what you are looking for also, Ari is the right fit. What impressed us the most about Ari was his professionalism every step of the way and how his passion and love for music and for what he does really shines through. His understanding of music covers such a wide range of genres (from old R&B/ northern soul to Latin styles like Salsa, Bossa Nova, to more alternative indie rock and dance music as well as old school /new hip hop... just to name a few). He is comfortable playing any of these styles (or others) based on your personal taste and we really loved that about him. We opted to use his services for the ceremony and the cocktail hour and were truly blown away by how perfectly he planned the sound system to make the most of our outdoor acoustics (the sound filled the wooded area so beautifully, people are still talking about it). Based on the great reviews Beat Train Productions received on various websites, we decided to hire them for our wedding. Also their prices were some of the best, while offering great modern DJ skills and up to date knowledge on music, new and old. We had been put off by some of the Cheesy DJ's that are around and the music at our wedding was really important to us, so we wanted to make sure we got a great DJ. Ari and his team didn't disappoint, they were great in setting everything up. The initial DJ we planned to work with decided to pursue another career outside of DJ'ing, so could no longer commit to our wedding. We had an amazing experience with Sam Turner. We picked him because his sound cloud was great but he was even better in person. Before our wedding he met us at a place of our choosing and was very organized, personable and professional. He was also responsive for last minute items as well. At the wedding everything went off without a hitch on his end even though he had to set up two locations and he even helped smooth over a few unexpected snafus unrelated to him by being a great MC and playing music at the right time. Pre-pandemic we were paired with DJ Joe Lopez for our Brooklyn reception. We met in person, hit it off and decided to book. We booked Ari for our wedding this past summer and it was the best decision we made. When planning a wedding, the 2 most important things are Food and Music. My fiance and I didn't want the typical cookie cutter wedding music at our reception. We wanted something different & fun. I spoke with Ari over the phone and right from the start he understood exactly what we wanted. Having booked Ari well over a year before our day, we had many exchanges back and forth. I will say, that he was always professional, he never once seemed to get annoyed and he always had the time for us. And always got back to us in a timely fashion (crucial!). He even gave us a heads up when he went on vacation. No other vendor showed us this type of service. We had a few unique ideas for certain songs, moments, specific cues etc. We spent a lot of time planning the music and when we explained what we wanted and how we wanted music played Ari was extremely receptive and delivered. His timing was impeccable! Leading up to our wedding day I heard a few songs that I thought would be fun to get played during the reception but didn't find the time to let Ari know. Too bad, right? Wrong, Ari ended up playing both songs in the first dance set and they were both big hits! During the course of the party he knew when to play songs, when to blend it, when to switch it up. He had everyone out on the dance floor almost immediately. The dance floor was packed all night long. Before the end of the night I had already received so much positive feedback on the music. When my mother found out we were getting married, one of her questions was "Are you hiring a band?" I had replied, "I'm pretty sure nobody does that anymore, mom." My then fiance and I agreed that we needed to find a legit, Hip-Hop deejay to orchestrate the music for our wedding and reception. We did a little research and stumbled across Beat Train Productions and delved into their roster. Immediately DJ Bazooka Joe leapt off the page because of his background within Hip-Hop and the caliber of the mixes available to listen to. He was a no-brainer for two lifelong Hip-Hop heads such as us, and was only further solidified when I asked my deejay friends if they'd ever heard of him and was given a resounding "Yes, he's nice!" We got on the phone with Joe and expressed what we were looking for - 90s underground Hip-Hop and 70s-80s R&B - and Joe lit up and said "I'm really excited to deejay your wedding! Most clients don't want classic Hip-Hop." That initial phone convo left us buzzing and the following meeting with him only amplified that. Between Joe's stage and mixtape resume, shared taste, and professionalism, we knew he was the right pick. Details were worked out about what should be played when, how much of what music should be heard, and what music should never be heard, as well as him telling us that he could record the entire session like a wedding mixtape (which absolutely sealed the deal). Wedding day rolls around and from top to bottom, procession to "man and wife" to cocktail hour to intros to reception, Bazooka Joe had us covered with all the right cuts at all the right times, making our wedding a near flawless Hip-Hop/R&B wedding. Not only did he have all the right music which the guests loved, he also read the crowd the way a deejay should and gave us the lulls we needed to eat and the boosts we needed to dance. On more than one occasion, my wife and I approached the DJ table to thank him and compliment his selection and skills, and numerous guests told us how much they loved the Hip-Hop theme and the music of the day. In all sincerity, we could not have asked for a better deejay for our day. He wasn't the icing on the cake, he was the cup of high-end coffee that perfectly compliments and makes the cake better. The digital mixtape that came later was the cinnamon on top of the foam on top of the high-end cup of coffee. Long story short, we can't recommend DJ Bazooka Joe high enough for any event that needs a talented deejay. He was a perfect match for us and made our wedding beyond enjoyable. read more

First thing is first! Our DJ, Perry, and everyone at Beat Train, were incredibly prompt, warm, and professional in all of their correspondences! Thank you! Overall, I will say that my husband and I were incredibly relaxed and comforted going into our wedding day with having Beat Train and DJ Perry Levy booked. We knew that they would have the entertainment under control. Perry was so chill and really understanding of the vibe we wanted to create at our wedding--lots of fun, lots of throwbacks, and lots of good memories! I would definitely recommend Beat Train and Perry to anyone! We were super spoiled by our vendors for our wedding since almost all of them were perfect (If you're a bride or groom looking for recs, Yelp message me!). With that said, there were a couple of points to mention. There were a couple of times that when a song ended, it started to replay. He caught it; and fixed it, but we had so many songs on our playlist that every second mattered. Additionally, when we were announced into our venue, an error was made. I believe we were announced with the word "Mr." in front of both of our names. That was a slip up, which happens, so hopefully it was picked up by our videographers! This next comment is purely for Beat Train to consider as an "even better next time" kind of thing...But, it would have been incredibly helpful if we were given some kind of heads up regarding when our first dance and cake cutting would start. We did finalize our timeline with Perry; however, as you can imagine once you are in the middle of your wedding reception, time gets ahead of you. Overall, my husband and I agree that Perry was an AWESOME, great guy, who went with the flow and vibe of our wedding and was able to find some pretty obscure songs (note: we asked for the Golden Girls theme song to be played at EXACTLY the moment when my sister finished her speech, and he did not disappoint...the timing was perfect! second note: I surprised my husband by singing "The Way You Look Tonight" by Elton John; and, Perry was able to track down an instrumental version of this. His timing in playing it was perfect, too. I think the little issues indicated were the result of Perry being a really cool person and getting caught up in the fun of the event! I consider myself a tough cookie when it comes to selecting vendors. I have to say when i was considering Beat Train productions, they were the most professional company i had dealt with in the selection process. When i submitted an initial request, I was contacted immediately and i recall that Beat Train had an on line system for making an appointment to speak to someone about selecting one of their DJs.From the first call, i was very impressed with the overall enthusiasm the company had and the ability to answer all of my questions. I was impressed with Beat Train's website which had videos of their DJs in action. They even had videos of them making announcements so you get a feel of how they would perform at your wedding. And if there were not videos, they did their best to direct me to another source that would have a sample of the DJ performing. After speaking with at least 4 DJ companies, it was easy and a no brainer to select Beat Train. DJ Joe Lopez was excellent weeks before the wedding, answering any and all questions and just open and accommodating to requests. The day of the event was flawless. I had two wedding assistants who i hired directly to work at the reception and the church for the ceremony. The reception was flawless! Joe is just overall professional. He had my people dancing and everything just seemed to flow and was without hiccups. I would strongly recommend Beat Train and most importantly DJ Joe Lopez. Beat Train runs a class act and deep down I believe you cant go wrong with any of their DJs. We can't said enough great things about Beat Train and our DJ Shane! Both were super responsive and helped us through rescheduling our wedding from our original date due to COVID. We were able to put a spotify list of some of the songs we like and Shane was able to come up with an impressive playlist that transitioned smoothly vs sounding like a random smattering of songs (which is what our playlist felt like). Shane was also able to play songs that were only available on youtube and no one would know the difference! He was amazing and took weird song requests in stride without affecting the vibe! We really enjoyed having Joe Lopez DJ our wedding at The W Loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn last September. He got everyone dancing from the start which was awesome. We knew almost immediately we'd be booking Beat Train upon reading numerous reviews all over the place. We just didn't know who we'd be booking. We met with the owner and although he was wonderful, we didn't think he was the right fit for our personalities and had a feeling there was someone else who'd really click with us. So we met with Joel. Let me tell you about Joel... Picture an easygoing guy who can make you feel completely at ease when all you're throwing at him are ideas that barely make sense in your own mind. He got it though. He understood it all. He made us feel so at ease that we almost forgot to send him the questionnaire he needed to put his schedule and the tunes together. (Sorry, Joel!) But he managed to make everything come together and made our vision come true and it was everything we hoped for and more. We wanted people to DANCE at our wedding, and let me tell you, the dance floor was CROWDED all night long!!! He had tunes to please the older crowd before dinner/cake cutting, and he had tunes to please the younger crowd after dinner... Beat Train was great to work with. They were very responsive and reliable. We had to switch our venue after booking them and they were willing to work with us. Our wedding had two locations; one for the ceremony and one for the reception, They hired an assistant for our DJ to execute a smooth transition, and it was flawless. Music choices were great. Additionally, one of the only wedding vendors who actually responded on time and got back to us with a reasonable quote.
