Therefore, more than half of my decorations were not hung, we missed our toasts because her staff had no idea what was going on, the DJ was supposed the receive cues from her but in her absence played our song when we weren't even ready for our first dance... As I was working my way down the boardwalk of the latest festival, I was curious of a large group of people, children and adults alike, stopped and fully engaged with something there in the center of this mass of onlookers. I investigated further, only to find that in the middle of the body of people, was a lone man. He stood there, while 30+ sets of eyes focused on him, he was calm, funny and entertaining. It was an amazing site to see. Attendees, both young and old, were amazed and astounded by the magical act of Phil Smith. He held their attention and made sure to include as many of the watchers as possible. My son and I stood for quite some time, mesmerized with the tricks and jokes that were coming from this modern-day wizard. After a while, we finally broke his spell, and he politely moved down the track a little further, to offer more entertainment to the unsuspecting masses. Phil was never far from the crowd; he was holding magical court and the subjects loved it. Phil, you did an amazing job and both my son, and I appreciate you and your craft. Keep it magical!

Pros: + I needed round, high-top, cocktail tables. At the other party rental place: $40. At A Plus Party Rental? $8. I KID YOU NOT. I don't understand this at all, but it's magical and I'll take it. Segue... + Generally speaking, their prices are always a bit cheaper than the other big party rental place in South Portland. Did I ever tell you the one about the $40 high-top cocktails? No? See above. + They had all the items I needed when I showed up. At the other party rental place, they hemmed and hawed with me about what I needed and when I needed it by. + Even though they weren't supposed to (and I hope this doesn't get them in trouble), the two young men in the "warehouse" area loaded all of our equipment in and out of our U-Haul. To sit back and watch them load made me feel like a princess... I did ask multiple times if I could help, and they very politely told me I didn't have to. They were respectful, they were responsible, and they were thoughtful - asked questions about what we were doing before the event, remembered who we were and asked about our event when we went to return everything, and even helped us clean the U-Haul after (knowing U-Haul fines for any piece of litter left in the bed or cab). + Every person I encountered - from the young men, to the woman in the office, to the man with the delivery truck (who I think was the owner) - was a rockstar at customer service. Accommodating, efficient, timely... I so appreciated being treated like a customer here, while at the other party rental place I was made to feel like a joke. Thank you, A Plus Party Rentals, for treating me like a human regardless of the size of my order! Cons: - For the life of her, the woman I was speaking to when I called could not understand me despite spelling everything out multiple times very slowly; as such my name and address were completely wrong when I got my receipt which I had to call a second and third time to have sent to me when they didn't send it the first and second time I called asking for it. - They are located REALLY off the beaten path. If you're throwing a party in Portland proper, it's quite the extra effort to get the stuff from A Plus Party Rentals and bring it back into town. All in all, these folks are worth your time if you like being treated with respect and saving money. Two things I know I appreciate always!

It was with that in mind that we began our search. I stumbled across Bethany and Dan pretty early on. From the second I skimmed through their website I was wowed and felt I didn't need to search any further. I reached out to them and we promptly set up a teleconference. Their work had already sold me, but getting to chat with them and get a feel for their personalities sealed the deal. From the initial planning stages through our wedding day Bethany and Dan stayed in contact, whether through email or by mail. It's very apparent that they value their clients and that thought goes into every little thing that they do. They were always available to answer any questions we had or address any issue that came up. By the time our wedding day arrived we couldn't wait to meet them! Bethany and Dan arrived on sight on our wedding day, and my husband and I both felt like it was meeting an old friend. They were both warm and inviting and had the type of personality that put even the most nervous of people (both of us that day!) at ease. They were an absolute joy to work with. ARE. STUNNING. I cannot begin to guess how many times I've looked through them. With our gallery, were able to go through and select favorites, but I couldn't.
