The staff and the techs here are awesome!...Clearly animal lovers! The vets, however, are ambiguous fakes focussed on money only. We are starting a law suit for what they did to a 3 day old kitten. They take advantage of grieving pet owners to a point just short of illegal but way past unethical. All profit based. If your pet is in distress, I implore you to seek medical help elsewhere. I actually spoke with a former employee about it and she was sorry that I didn't contact her earlier. Sad that these businesses exist. I have to put a one star rating but I wish there was a zero Katie N. nailed it Apathetic. My dog had an issue with his hip, Beattie Pet Hospital got him in the next day for X-rays, they found he had an issue with his lungs and recommended us to go to urgent care. The vet was very attentive and found things that two other vets did not see. The vet assistant was lovely and caring and she made us feel so comfortable knowing she would be caring for our dog. read more

My cat got extremely unwell in a short period of time. I knew things did not look good so I called Beattie Animal Hospital on April 5th. They told me there was nothing they could do for her and I had to make the decision to either let her suffer or human euthanasia. I chose to let her go and while I held my Cleo in my arms wrapped in a warm blanket, I spoke with her and told her what a good kitty she was and that her little brother would help me through. The Doctor came in and gave her the medication while I spoke gently in her ear that I loved her and she quickly passed, peacefully and no longer in pain. That was the last thing Beattie Animal Hospital ever did for me or her. I had no money at the time and could not opt for a private cremation, so they did a mass cremation but told me they would send me a clipping of her fur and a copy of her paw print. I was devastated. I went to the mailbox every day waiting for the package and nothing came. I called yesterday and found out that they not only don't send them out, but that they have lost her package. I now have nothing to have of her and I was so distraught that I went in and they gave me a refund for her care but made me sign a paper saying I would not be going to the media or reporting it. I was mentally unstable and signed it because I didn't know what to do. I am now in contact with a lawyer and am going over there right now to return their money as the memory or my girl can't be bought off for a measly $300.00. I would not trust any of their staff to look after a goldfish. read more

I have been going to Dr. MacDonald for many years now, I guess you could say for 4 cats, she has performed dental surgery, and also has been with me for two euthanasia's, she is extremely compassionate and knowledgeable, but it's more than that, she really puts me at ease and I find her very relatable. I also overheard her speak to an elderly woman with such patience about the easiest way to medicate her pet, specifically for her situation, that made me really see how special she is. 100% recommend her. Plus it's not as expensive as other clinics I've seen. read more

Never go to this animal hospital. I had a few issues with them, such as when my three pawed dog didn't pee for 2 days so took him to Beattie to find out the problem. They used a catheter and took x-rays, telling me he had server arthritis for a young dog. Cost me $1,000. (He was found laying in the middle of the road in El Paso, so age estimate was 2 - 3 yrs). Within 3 wks of this visit I woke up one morning to him being paralyzed from the waist down. Had to rush him to emergency vet, so after spending another $2000 found out that not only did he have arthritis, he also had degenerative disc disease in 3 discs in his lower lumbar! 4 months my cat started having issues going poop. 4 months of trying to help help, and two visits to Beattie. Finally, on the 3rd visit they sent me home with some stool softener meds and about 8 hrs later I was again rushing to emergency vet (11 pm) as she was dying in my arms. She died within 2 mins of getting her inside. It was 2020, during lockdown but the lovely staff there got me all masked, gloved up, etc and let me come in to say "goodbye" to her. They gave me some of her fur and her collar. 5 days later I received a sympathy card, which the entire staff signed, from them!!! I was there for 10 mins tops! I called Beattie to let them know what happened and after about 15 yrs with Beattie (I had also used the St. Creek and Brantford clinic) with 4 different animals, including 8 puppies for a 1st vet ck, I never received a single sympathy card from them! Or when any other pet died. I met 2 great vets there in 15 yrs but it's a revolving door at Beattie and Ancaster was awful. After my cat died I switched to a different vet the next day. Would NEVER recommend them. read more

My story about coming to Beattie's doesn't have a happy ending, but my service was fantastic and the staff at Beattie's need to be commended. My aunt's dog (who is a family pet to us all) was very sick, I was at my aunt's house when she collapsed and was having trouble breathing. I called Beattie's and my aunt and cousin took her in and Beattie's got them in immediately to take a look. They gave her med's to treat her breathing. This pet hospital was very informative and helpful - kept my family updated and made check ups available when they could attend (due to work). My aunt took her dog back in for a few check ins, got some more med's and kept trying to treat her dog at home. Unfortunately her dog became worse and worse and collapsed again - we had to take her back to Beattie's and called all of the family to come and prepared for the worst. The vet staff were so helpful, caring and informative. They really gave us all the options and helped us make the best decision for the dogs well being. It was never about the money, it was always about what would be best for the dog and for the family situation. The vet walked everyone through the final option of putting her to sleep - and let the family has as much time and as much information as they needed. The vet did walk everyone through other options too, and weighed out all the pros and cons. They explained every little detail - which was very comforting and helpful. This was the worst case scenario but everyone felt in good hands. Honestly, everyone was so impressed with the level of kindness and understanding of Beattie's. I would recommend their care for any pet owners in the area! read more

Waited almost an hour for a vet who could hardly speak English. The vet did not even look over my dog thoroughly. Will never be returning.

Had a terrible experience here. Vet was extremely apathetic, and did not even seem like he liked animals. Ended up spending a lot of money and received no diagnosis or solution for my cats problem after spending $400 for one visit. Would never recommend. read more
