We were greeted by the owner, Ms. Addie, and her son, Garth, who works there with her. Ms. Addie at one point sat at our table to talk and was the sweetest lady ever. It was like I was sitting at my grandma's and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The hamburger and onion rings were made to order and very good. We can't wait to go back! This little hole in the wall is a treasure for the area. Also note that you will see a lot of dogs and cats around the restaurant. Ms. Addie is an animal lover and she told us some are hers and that she just won't ever not feed the hungry animals. She (and the restaurant) are a gem that you shouldn't miss out on. We were traveling with a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old, so we planned accordingly. After waiting an hour and 45 minutes, we still had not been seated. When I approached the hostess for an update, she was dismissive and unhelpful. Rather than providing any estimate or assistance, she told us it could honestly be another two hours and made it clear she wasn't interested in helping. Shortly afterward, we were told our table was ready, only to be sent upstairs and informed that it actually wasn't ready and that we needed to wait an additional 20 minutes. By the time we were finally seated and able to order, it was approximately 8:15 PM. Unfortunately, the service only got worse from there. After our food order was placed, every member of our party received their meal except me. More than 30 minutes after everyone else had finished eating, I asked about my food and was told that my order had been forgotten. At that point, I had spent nearly three hours waiting between being seated and receiving no meal at all. To the manager's credit, she apologized and removed the filet from our bill. However, after such an excessive wait, poor communication, and complete failure to serve one guest in our party, the gesture did little to salvage the evening. What should have been a family dinner turned into a frustrating, stressful experience for both adults and young children. Between the inaccurate wait times, rude customer service, lack of communication, and forgotten meal, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had. I sincerely hope management takes steps to improve customer service, waitlist management, and kitchen communication because no customer should have to endure what we experienced.

No response. Not even a sorry about that. Figured he's older maybe he's sleeping but no. Still no response on Sunday morning nor Monday morning. Hundreds of LITTLE ROACHES hiding in the baseboards of the house. DISGUSTING! Figured maybe he didn't know about the situation but his silence speaks louder than my screams when a ROACH touches me!

Hackberry Fishing Camp & Marina is located near Lake Calcasieu which is close to the well known Lake Charles. Lake Calcasieu is widely known for its incredible fishing. There are many different species that you'll catch in the lake, but the common catch for our customers are Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, and the rare Tripple Tail. Speckled Trout range from about 4-7 pounds in this lake. Many fishing trips end with filling a customers freezer, because they're so easy to catch. The key to catching these trophy fish is fishing at just the right time. These fish feed like crazy during the winter and early spring. They are preparing for their long spawning months in the late spring through summer. Cast around the shallows and bank line and you're sure to catch a hungry Trout. With a limit of 25 fish daily and 12 inch minimum you will be surprised at how quickly you will be able to catch your limit. The Redfish in the lake are an aggressive, hard fighting thrill. It is not unusual for a big school of Reds to sneak up on you in the middle of Trout fishing. As the schools pass through you will find yourself anticipating the hook that will give you the fight that every fisherman dreams of. Cast right on the grass line of the bank, where the crab and shrimp hang out, and within seconds there could be a Red on your line...
