Beautiful Minds was listed on Groupon as one of their Best of Vancouver deals and had some great reviews on Yelp, so I decided to give it a try. The massage was pretty good, but due to the overall atmosphere and disorganization I wouldn't go again. When you walk into a business to get a massage you expect a certain atmosphere that screams serenity. Upon entering Beautiful Minds I felt like I had entered a doctor's office, a doctor's office that got its couches off of someone at Craigslist, because they were definitely very, very well worn and saggy. I had difficulties understanding the person I booked the appointment with over the phone, and the same when I arrived at the Centre. They directed me to the room for the infrared sauna session and I thought said the massage would be right after across the hall. Which, it wasn't. So, I had to find someone to direct me where to go because the staff were just busy chatting among themselves. When I went in for the massage, the masseuse didn't even ask me what my issues were before beginning. I'm pretty sure the only thing he asked was if the pressure was too much. And following the massage he was kind of pushy with trying to get me to book another time. In addition, the ceilings of the massage rooms have gaps at the top, so you can hear everything that's going on in the next room, which is again, not relaxing. I get a massage atleast once a month, I think this might be the worst massage I've ever received. I asked for a female masseuse and I got a male (potentially a language barrier so perhaps thats not their fault.) I also asked my masseuse atleast 3-4 times to apply less pressure which he did not. I was tensing my entire body the entire time and the massage was so painful that I was crying throughout the entire experience. If I wasn't such a shy/conflict resistent person I definetly would have gotten up even after the first 15 minutes and left. I feel bad about giving a harsh review but I'm genuinly concerned about my back right now and I had gone in there as a broke student who had a really hard day and I thought the experience would redeem my day not make it worse. read more

In my opinion, this is the best place for foot reflexology massage in Vancouver. My post is purely based on the foot reflexology, as it's my favourite. I have tried almost all the places in Kits and a few around Cambie and Broadway, with some painful experiences where some reflexologist told me I wouldn't get anything out of it without pain. Well I'm sorry but sometimes you just want to get a good foot massage and feel relaxed!! The difference is Beautiful Minds listens to their customers and creates such a relaxing atmosphere! People are quiet, there is peaceful spa music playing, and most importantly they will listen to what I want -- softer or harder pressure. If you don't like hard pressure ask for a "spa-like massage". Ask for a massage with Jack. He does a great one hour body massage. Works magic on my lumbar and legs - better than an RMT. While the clinic doesn't have pretty spa decor, large rooms or fancy massage tables with posh linens, it does have one of the best massage therapists that I have ever had in the past 36 years of living in Vancouver. It has taken ages to find someone who is able to get to my problem areas effectively in one session. And he also is great at foot reflexology! Good experience, professional staff. I saw both an accupuncturist and a TCM practitioner for some Chinese herbs. Both are certified professionals, and very competent, caring, and knowledgeable. My family doctor (a GP but also from China and familiar with TCM) agreed that the accupuncture and herbs recommended at this wellness clinic were appropriate for my symptoms. The TCM practitioner who seemed to be in in charge of the place was a really caring lady who went out of her way to help me by calling her Chinese pharmacy colleagues to check on the formula for the herbal powder she gave me. I was nervous about taking accupuncture and Chinese herbs as I had never tried them before, but she reassured me and put me at ease. read more

I had a horrible massage experience. I was suppose to receive a 60 mins. Swedish massage. I tried other Swedish massage so I had some expectations what it was suppose to feel like. When the masseuse entered the room, I was facing down on the table. He then proceeded to massage me and it was SO SO painful. He was pretty much pinching my back and causing intense pain for 1 hrs. and never even asked me to turn over to my back. So I at first entrusted him he knew what he was doing. After the session was over, I was so light headed and nauseous from being on my stomach for 1hrs. and my back was in more pain then before I went in there, It was NOT relaxing and was the WORST massage I ever received. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I had a horrible experience and will NEVER go back. There are better massage places out there that are way more zen and relaxing stay away. read more

Got a groupon for a facial, but the service wasn't even worth getting the discount. First, they messed up my appointment and tried blaming it on me, saying that I gave them wrong info. Then, on the second attempt, got in, but as the previous commenters pointed out, the room was small and separated from the main space by a thin half-wall, providing zero sound isolation. Plus the aesthetician left the door open, inviting all the sounds and smells into the tiny room! The facial was ok, nothing special. All procedures consisted of two masks, a scrub, and a massage. I wouldn't call it advanced facial as it was advertised. It was bearable until the massage during which I suspect the aesthetician forgot to wash bits of scrub off her gloves. The rubbing was so intense, especially around the eyes! The skin is still sensitive two days after! I also found it super irritating that before you leave you are given a huge pink slip that says "Thank you for your gratuity", it is quite unprofessional and pushy! read more

I felt absolutely horrified and disgusted during the massage session. A masseur, his name is Jack, who provided me massage got hard during the session and started exposing himself on me (from the back as I was laying on my belly). At first, I didn't understand what was happening but then I felt absolutely horrified as there was no one else in the entire place. and I didn't know what to do. By the end of the massage, he "accidentally" touched my breasts twice and during the session, he "accidentally" rubbed his boner against my body several times. I got up and saw he had a boner, which he tried to cover up with a towel and then he immediately took off for the bathroom. I got dressed, went to the reception and didn't know what to say or how to react because it has never happened to me before. Jack returned from the bathroom and smiled at me and asked if I liked the massage he gave me (in a creepy way). I asked who the manager was. He said he is the manager. I paid and left. Went here with a coupon for reflexology. Less of a spa atmosphere and more like a clinic. But it was clean and professionally run so that didn't bother me. I did however have one BIG problem with my experience there. The massage began with a shoulder and neck massage. First of all, the masseuse did not ask me about any issues I might have. I didn't even know he was going to massage my back until he started. Secondly I have a history of neck problems. When I asked him to go very easy on my neck he pressed harder. When I asked him again he told me I just needed to relax. When I told him to stop he didn't. I had to ask him twice to stop touching my neck and only got him to stop when I forcefully moved his hand from my neck and made eye contact. After this he looked surprised and apologized. In any other situation I would have just left, but I am fairly certain this was a problem due to language (he didn't speak much English) so I chose to gave him the benefit of the doubt. The foot massage itself was good. Very hard but I don't mind that. However I won't be returning. If you have any concerns about injury or simply want a relaxing, gentle experience this is not the place for you. read more

This place is by far the worst if you want a body massage. They don't ask you where you would like the message to be concentrated on. When you let them know..they do not listen and continue doing the same body part. When you ask them to apply more pressure, they do not listen as well. The male manager there is extremely rude. They also reuse the disposable plastic cups they provide for water. You'll notice they are all wet inside the cups. Royal feet was really good but unfortunately it burnt down recently. read more

I have no idea why all the reviews for this place were flagged as not recommended? It made me feel suspicious about going there, but IT WAS SOOO worth my while! I'm a busy single mom, so unfortunately, I don't have the time to laboriously expand about every detail of my visit. I just really needed a good massage (refer back to busy single mom). I bought one Groupon for me, and as a gift, one for my friend (a mom of 4). Mind you, we both needed a real deep tissue massage, not the fluffing they do at an all-slate and marble day spa. I don't care about special body oils, I try to stay away from fragrance, I don't want anyone to sell me on this and that product, I just want a 60 minute massage and someone to take those darn knots out of my neck. We got there, it was a cold day and we asked to do the infrared sauna before our massage rather than after. They had no problem with that. After the sauna, we were taken to our respective rooms. Sarah introduced herself and asked if I wanted it deep (as in hard) or softer massage. I said very deep, and so it was. For the next 60 minutes, she worked SO hard, and SO effectively, I couldn't believe it. You know when you're sitting there thinking 'oh, I wish they'd just move over a little bit to the right...' -- she read my mind nearly every time, and I never had to adjust the strength. My friend said the same thing was true for her (Sammy was her practitioner). I guess that's where all the acupuncture and acupressure training they have comes into play: they actually seem to know what they're doing! Sarah was able to maintain a seriously deep tissue massage for the entire hour. My friend had Sammy and reported the same. We were both very satisfied! In sum: probably the best massage we've ever had, they know what they're doing, clean, effective, and definitely no frills. read more

Horrible customer service, wonder what the massage would have been like! I bought a Groupon for two massages. I tried to book an appointment and was told that an appointment couldn't be made and that I should call back later. Giving the company the benefit of the doubt, I asked what time would be best. In response I got told just call back later. I called back the next day. Again requested that I need to make two appointments. By the same man I was told to call back later. I stated I had called yesterday and now it was my second time calling. He told me he didn't even have to answer yesterday as they were closed (even though it was a Monday). Then he proceeded to tell me how his car broke down and he doesn't have time and also that he's very busy. I let him know that I would be writing this review online and getting my money back from Groupon. He proceeded to leave me two voice messages; in which he stated in a nutshell that I was being inconsiderate and how stupid of me to ask for two appointments; that it would not even be possible given how busy they are. But the funny thing is I didn't ask for two appointments at the same time, I was simply just trying to make the appointments. read more
