In this case I booked in for a waxing treatment, it was the first time I'd been to Bliss and I was apprehensive about it. Waxing can go terribly wrong in so many ways and often there's the embarrassment factor. My therapist was very warm and friendly and chatty but not too chatty. Bliss salons use the Australian Bodycare waxing system and it was this, along with the therapist's expertise that prove to be a revelation. I've had waxes in very many salons over the years and even frequented a very fancy place in West London that claims to be favoured by celebrities and I have to say that the wax I had at Baby Bliss was one of the best, quickest and least painful I ever had, not to mention good value for money. The salon and treatment rooms themselves are small and are showing some definite signs of wear and tear so this would not be the Bliss branch to choose for a luxurious and relaxing treat but as a local salon for your regular beauty maintenance you couldn't hope for much better.

I'd been meaning to get a leg wax for an age, and finally decided to bite the bullet, look on Yelp and get myself sorted. I think winter and laziness were the biggest catalysts in the process, having not actually paid any attention to my prickly props for sometime, so I was long overdue a visit. I telephoned to check out the times and such and booked myself an appointment. On the day I came along and was greeted nicely by my beautician, Kirsty, who wasn't in the slightest bit phased when I said, "OK, so I've never had a wax before!" I went through and she talked me through the basics, I got myself sorted and we did a test strip to check it was all good. It was totally fine! In no time at all she was waxing away, whilst we chatted (she was, as Carol C mentions, friendly but not over the top) and in no time I was finished. Of course, it stung a little, but it was by no means a harrowing experience. The salon itself is fairly small and dinky, but very welcoming, as all the staff I encountered were lovely. I was so impressed at the speed of the service I braved a bikini wax then and there, which had a lot more sting to it (I don't believe was anything to with the salon, more my pain tolerance levels!), but the whole process was swift and over in no more than 10 minutes. It was really good of them to fit that in too, as I'd only booked for a leg wax. As a reward for having spent over £30 I got to pick a small gift for myself, which is always lovely, so am now the happy owner of a delightful jar of nail varnish. I also have a loyalty card, so I plan to reap the rewards of that, in time. Essentially, if you want friendly swift service, and a great wax, this is the place to visit. Oh dear, don't touch this place with a barge pole if you want a beauty therapy treatment. I…read morerecently booked in for a shellac mani (on na voucher deal) plus a full pedi. I have had several shellac mani's before (at different salons). This was a disaster. Firstly, the Therapist buffed the nail. CND's own website clearly states that nails should not be buffed before applying shellac as it weakens and damages the natural nail. Secondly, the shellac was applied overly thickly and somewhat unevenly - an unprofessional looking finish. Finally and most importantly the shellac was applied carelessly so that the cutcile and side of the nail were covered. The end effect was similar to badly applied gel nails and it will look dreadful in a weeks time. The full pedi was a total waste of money and time. I suffer from dry skin on my heels which is why I opted for the full pedi. The therapist didn't even touch them. She gave the balls of my feet a quick going over and that was that. In addition, the pedi is carried out at the nail bar, with your legs going under the table so that your shins get pushed up against a wooden bar as she works on your feet (ouch!) To add insult to injury, not only was it the most expensive pedi I've ever paid for, I could have done better myself. Save your money and go elsewhere. Left feeling unpampered and ripped off.

This year is all about The Year Of Firsts. So today I have been for my first ever massage…read more My sisters had clubbed together and bought me a full body massage as my Christmas present. Bloom bloom has just recently moved a few doors down into bigger premises and the the inside has been very professionally done. There are bare brick walls alongside clean crips lines and the atmosphere is very relaxed indeed. As this was my first visit I had to fill out a health card. The staff are very warm and I felt like I was very well taken care of. I was told by Vicky, who was the owner, that they don't usually offer massages to male clients but they do make exception for partners or close friends of people who already use the beauticians. I was to be given my massage by Faye and she made me feel very relaxed and there was a very un-rushed feel to the whole experience. I explained that I had never had a massage before and was a little bit nervous as I didn't know what to expect. Faye was very reassuring and put me at ease. The massage was brilliant. The massage table was lovely and warm. I never knew that a massage was such a complicated thing! The time flew by and before I knew it, it was finished. I had asked for a sports massage as I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and I felt that I would benefit from a thorough massage. After the massage it was suggested that I hang around, drink some water and not rush off as some people can feel a bit woozy or spaced out. This was the case with me and I was glad I didn't rush off. The staff are really friendly and talkative. I know that this is a bit of a feminine environment but I was made to feel very welcome indeed. So after a glass of cool water and a long conversation I headed off home. Will I be back? Definitely. I think it is time that I started to treat myself a little from time to time. One of the first things I shall do is book myself in for another treatment here.

Had my legs waxed first, nice and hygienic salon with clean paper on bed and a towel to cover, put heater on when I said it was cold. Although she didn't check if any hairs had been missed and had patches of wax on my legs and feet, so my socks stuck which was visible during shellac on toes. The shellac hands and feet were nice even though there was no exfoliation included, good choice of colours and very neat and thorough application. The only part I disliked was the cuticle removal on fingers as it hurt and left them looking a bit rough and raggedy. Needs to be more gentle even if cuticle are 'overgrown'. I got a voucher for 15% off next time, I would visit again if I could afford it. I would recommend it to a friend and anyone in the area looking for a local friendly salon with good standard of services.
