I was lucky enough to come across Family Foot Center, and they fit me in as soon as I could visit. They did physical therapy and diagnosed me in the same visit! It was very affordable too. However, my request was met with resistance by the doctor's female assistant who insisted I return to his office for an office visit in order to accomplish this. This new requirement of an additional office visit was not consistent with what Dr. Vess had told me initially: that I could call to provide feedback and request any adjustment to my new orthotics. I think requiring me to again travel to his office, PAY for another office visit, just to accomplish this simple adjustment to my custom made orthotics was overreaching and unnecessary. I will NEVER go back to him for this reason. Doc: get a better gatekeeper who understands how patients are affected by this abhorrent practice. I was impressed with the in-office X-rays and that they were able to send me home with an ankle brace that day to try and help with my symptoms. I felt that my concerns were addressed and questions were answered. My biggest issue was the amount of time that this appointment took. I wasn't taken back to a room until about half an hour after my appointment. It was another long wait for a medical assistant to come back and review my medical history and vitals. Then they took me for X-rays and another wait for the doctor. After the doctor came in, I waited for another staff member to come with a brace to fit it and instruct me on wear and use. By the time that I left my 9 AM appointment, it was noon. Thankfully, my work schedule can be somewhat flexible, but I still found myself stressing about the time because we started the whole process late even after I showed up early to make sure all paperwork was done.
