    Maya loves "walking point."
    John W.

Early in the morning every day, I love taking my little dog Maya to the Beck Lake Off Leash Dog Park. We always take the mile walk around the perimeter, enjoying the meadows, several paths with tree canopy. If other dogs are there, Maya plays and runs with them, large or small. It is a great dog socialization area and nice to meet other dog-loving folks. This park is a real gem offered by Cook County Forest Preserve. Thanks!

Are you gonna help me out or just take a picture?

Great place for dogs. They like the varying terrain and the "lake" is perfecr for hot days. Never had any issues with bad dogs or bad owners other than with people who don't train their dogs to behave, like not jump all over the tables etc. We don't usually come here in the winter, since we don't want to risk any lake incidents. It is a 30 minute drive for us, and worth it. You will need to get a permit from Cook County to get in the gate.

Best dog park in the area hands down. Friendly dogs and great people. Would recommend to anyone.

I love this place but my dog realized he didn't have to listen to me and run away so I had to stop coming.

Ask the Community - Beck Lake Dog Friendly Area

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a pass for this dog park? I would be willing to pay a current member to use their day pass coming from the city.

I submitted the completed application with my veterinarian's form via email after payment. That was on 2/24/24. They responded on 2/26/24 accepting my application. I went and picked up my key from FPOCC HQ a few days later.

We've come here a couple times with the kids, especially if they're bored of a lot of shopping. Hill Street Park has an awesome playground with slides, climbing structures and bridges to run across. Besides that, there's a picnic area and a short walking trail that wraps around the place. You can walk it in about 5-10 minutes, so it's not exactly a big hike, but plenty of fun for the short attention span of our kids. There is no field house, but it's a nice place to stop and play if you're in the area with a couple energetic kids. While it was not fully green when we last visited, I am sure the place is splendid in summertime. Check out the photos.

There's ample seating for parents, a small slide, swingset, seesaw, and jumbo playground for larger children. This is a great area for moms of children varying ages. There is a decent walking area for dogs, although they are not allowed on the playground. Also, for eight or nine-year-olds who want to get off of the beaten path, there are things that they can do in the open "woods", such as build forts, because they are burned out and cleaned out regularly. There is a fire pit for fun as well.

The Naval station closed in '93, and the hundred and fifty acres that now comprise Gallery Park became available, and were incorporated as this park. Tip: There are several different trails here, all of which loop around Lake Glenview. The lake also has several piers, some small islands, and a bridge My two favorite trails here are the Lake Trail (one and a half miles long) and the Park Trail (one point eight miles long). I used to also very much enjoy the Lakeside Trail, but I ran into far too many ticks the last time I went there, so I've been avoiding it. Over and above the hiking trails, the park also has several soccer fields, tennis courts, and even some catch-and-release fishing spots. Last (but not least) there's a fitness zone with equipment for cardio steps, chest presses, an crunches, etc. But wait, there's more! You'll also find a children's garden, bike racks, water fountains, and picnic tables. All in all this is a pretty cool place to relax and get some nature on :-)

The park and lake have been landscaped with native plants and offer great colorful additions from Spring through Autumn. The trails are paved but there are also single track trails of crushed gravel that follow the lake shore more closely. There are also tick warning signs along the lakeside trails which are nice reminders to hikes to check out their shoes and clothes after a hike to make sure you are not bringing home any hitchhikers! The scenery here is peaceful and relaxing. The lake is large and very pretty and it's easy to forget you are in suburban Chicago. The park offers tennis courts, work-out stations, and a small amphitheater. This is a great natural area to hike and enjoy our beautiful native plants!!
