I wasn't too surprised my flowers weren't delivered the same day, but I was sure they would be delivered the next. When I found out they were not delivered the following day, I called Hughes to ask when I could expect the flowers to be delivered, I was told they refused to deliver in "inclement weather" and that they would not just leave the flowers at my friend's door, per my request because it was "too humid" that day. I told them my friend and I give explicit permission to leave the flowers at her doorstep (she even put a note on her front door saying the same). I was told they would try again the next day, but it was weather dependent AND the delivery person stops delivering after 2p each day. After the 4th day of no deliver and beautiful weather, I realized I was being scammed. Either they didn't have the bouquet I ordered and just weren't telling me or it's a money grab and they assumed since I lived out of state, I would never notice that they didn't follow through with the order. Save yourself the hassle I went through, and find another "florist".

Nobody offered what was shown on the typical FTD or Teleflora, it seemed. Only, I needed something special for my friend, who'd suddenly lost her husband. Arrangements offered by others weren't right for my artistic friend's elegantly designed and furnished home and tastes, nor the expression I'd hoped to achieve. THE NEW LEAF's, however, were phenomenal. I was blown away! Never had I seen such beautifully designed arrangements -- indeed, "beautiful floral designs" -- which is why I chose them. I selected "Soft Serenity" for the balanced trio of greens, lilac and whites, and balanced artful composition, too -- only to be sad seeing what'd arrived had substituted some yellow and other flowers. Uh-oh... Calling Dina with my disappointment, however, I was kindly offered either a refund or to send again. We worked closely to ensure that softly serene design I sought for comfort was replicated as closely as one can... I'm so glad I did! My friend was just over the moon with superlatives! She offered to create a fresh and unique arrangement in summer colors AND have an orchid dressed so I could choose; she even ok'd pickup outside of their normal hours. Turns out, I ended up needing it a day sooner...and they came through, calling to update me when needed. At pick-up, James said "I saw this peach double orchid and knew it was for your friend." Make sure you're looking for it because if you are headed toward Carrollton away from Harbor View it is on the right side of the road but you have to turn off before you get to the bridge onto a little side street right by the Fireflies sign. It's a small gravel road that leads to the shop right by the water. It's so charming. There are about 7-8 parking spaces outside. Once you walk inside it's so cute - there are thousands of amazing little hand-crafted gems inside. You'll find jewelry, housewares, baby stuff, men's stuff, accessories, art, vases, etc. etc. etc. There is a small room off to the left with men-themed stuff like cooling after-shave stuff, ties, and a hundred other neat little goodies if you need a gift for one of the men in your life. In the next room I found more things like scarves, wine stuff, mermaid items and in the following room (with a view of the bridge and water) is a treasure trove of the cutest baby stuff I have ever seen.
