I'm not sure why this BECU location doesn't have AT LEAST a 4 star rating, because my experience here has always been wonderful. In particular, I want to highlight a gentleman named Lane. He made such a positive impact on me during my first visit to this location that he is now the person I specifically request each time I require assistance. Lane goes above and beyond to make banking, which can often be a stressful and mundane task, not only easy and efficient, but genuinely pleasant. It's clear Lane cares deeply about his job and his clients. He is extremely personable, remembers details from our past conversations, and creates an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. Lane does so much more than simply complete the tasks at hand, he takes the time to make sure I feel valued, listened to, and taken care of. It's rare to find someone who truly stands out in this way, and I feel fortunate to have him as my go-to person at this branch. You really have a special employee in Lane. I need to balance the rating of this branch a bit and give it five stars. The current 3 stars make no sense. If you don't already know, all BECU "branches" are cashless. They are ATM and service providers. If you need a duffle bag of cash for ransom money (what else do you need a bag of cash for these days?), go to the "Financial Center" locations. From this branch, I have had notaries done, gotten cashier's checks, and opened a new account. All services provided were professional and without any hiccups. This branch has three ATMs, two on the inside and one on the outside. All three are accessible 24/7. These machines were amongst the first location to skip the fuss and waste of envelopes for deposits. Thumbs up! As for the parking that others complained about, oh come on! It wouldn't kill you to walk a few steps. If you want roomy and easy to turn parking, just park down the hill (north) or towards QFC (west). Plenty of parking. I go to BECU and nearby businesses (Mediterranean Kitchen, Romio) regularly and have always been able to park. read more

BECU has AMAZING customer service. We opened an account with them when we first moved to the area and they were really friendly and helpful with pointing out what's local. They made signing up with them super easy, answered all our questions. When the fiance lost his card, they were also really helpful with getting him a new one and setting everything up so there was minor interruption to his account use. There's usually a line when the branch is open, and the wait can be over 30 minutes (especially on the weekends). The waiting area does get quite crowded as well, so there are people spilling out into the 24/7 ATM area, and onto the sidewalk. However, once you sit down with the staff to get your banking done, you don't feel rushed at all, which is great. PROTIP: Schedule your appointment online and show up at your appointment time and skip the line! read more

BECU is a solid credit union, if you don't care about anything other than no fees. Their interest rates are "variable" on their accounts as they will entice you with a higher savings interest rate, but the moment you put money in there it drops. All of their locations except for 2 are ATM and services only, no tellers (this means cash deposits/draws only out of the ATM). They do have tellers at a couple branches, but not any of their "neighborhood financial centers" or whatever they are calling them now. You'll regularly deal with long waits for service as their locations generally have a lot of people queued up in their small spaces. Setting up an account is easy, and painless which is nice. The pain starts when you need help with anything though. I've had to wait 20+ minutes pre-covid numerous times at a few of their locations. Generally their phone service is better than in person, but some things you just have to go in and do. Also, during COVID times I've seen numerous employees wearing neck masks as opposed to face masks. Not the most effective use of PPE. Overall they are a decent bank, better than most of the national big banks. You'll run into BECU being hyper anti-fraud on your cards, which is a blessing and a curse. Good you are protected, annoying you have to call them a lot. read more

I was stuck on NYE trying to buy a car at a nearby dealership. I keep my credit frozen and I didn't realize the dealership would need to run it again it to confirm my loan was approved through BECU. I couldn't unfreeze it since TransUnion offices were closed, so I had to drive to hope that someone at a BECU location could take care of me. Karla Teuber saw my partner and I standing outside the branch, worried about whether we could get help (we had no appointment), and she came out, brought us in, helped us with every step, confirmed our approved credit, and got the check cut so we could go back to the dealership to pay for the car we wanted to get that day. We love banking at BECU and while this isn't our primary branch anymore, it's still great! We use it from time to time to bank business checks since our mailbox is just around the corner from here. Unfortunately the one star off is for the parking situation. Which as you can see from my check in today here was a major problem. I waited around for 3-5 minutes waiting for just one parking space to open. Eventually my wife decided to just jump out of the vehicle and deposit them while I waited for a space. By the time she was done, one space had finally opened. Unfortunately as Kirkland continues to grow, so does the demand on the businesses and this parking situation is very present across the whole city. read more

Great bank. In particular, William who helped me set up an account. They have great customer service and are available whenever to talk. I could call or email them and they'd respond immediately. This is what you want in a bank. My only issue is that, despite being a credit union, their standards for credit card applications are very high. I was under the impression that if you don't have the best credit, you could easily get a credit card from a credit union. That's not the case here. Look elsewhere if you have average credit. I always dread coming here. The people are nice enough, but the location is horrid. Your first challenge is the parking lot. Will there be an open space? Will it be wide enough that you can park AND exit your car? Will you have to wait to get a usable space, or do you feel like parking semi-legally? I've had to park at the larger mall around the corner and walk back here because there were no spaces and nobody seemed to be headed for their car. There are no other close BECU locations, so unless you want to drive to downtown Bellevue or head for Seattle, this is your only option. I absolutely refuse to come here after 3:00PM because participating in the parking spot competition between here and UPS and the pizza joint (and all the other businesses in this tiny strip mall) just isn't worth it to me. OK, I'm finally inside. There will always be a line to use one of the two ATMs, or the single ATM if one of them is down, which happens too often for my liking. It's not unusual to have to cut though the line that wraps around in front of the door in order to make your way to the end of the line. Why the long lines? BECU has no cashiers, so the ONLY way to get or deposit money is via one of their ATMs. Handy. read more

If I could give Gabrielle a 0 star, I would. If you need help with anything requiring legal documents and signatures, make sure to ask for a senior member. When I came in to finalize my loan agreement I was given a list of things to bring, and told to have my cosigner, myself, and seller together to sign documents. The seller of the motorcycle lives an hour away, so we all met on the only day we were all free for the next couple weeks, and signed a few papers. We we're missing two documents that we were told could be electronically sent in, so we made sure we we're good to go for all documents needing all three of us there, and left. We sent in the electronic documents only to get told that we needed to meet again to sign an odometer disclosure. This document could have been signed at the time we were all together. (It has to be notorized). So over a week later, I finally get the seller and myself at the bank so we can sign our portions, notorized, and then sign again later with my cosigner without the seller. I thanked Gabrielle, and was able to thank the seller and he went back home. An hour away. I get a phone message, not 30 minutes after our meeting, from Gabrielle saying that we ALL THREE have to meet AGAIN to sign the loan document. When we asked her, she said he was done. Now, for a third time, I am inconveniencing this poor guy who has no ride down to Kirkland. I have to drive and hour to pick him up (in traffic, so likely an hour and forty-five minutes of drive time) bring him to sign with my cosigner, and then drive him BACK HOME and back. Why? Because the BECU associate is completely incompetent and feeding us false information! Why couldn't this have been done when we all met together? Why couldn't we have been told to just wait and meet all three together a second time to finalize everything instead of telling me we were done needing him to sign. I am extremely frustrated! BECU needs to invest in some sort of training and hire people who are understanding and competent! Never again. read more

I've been a member for BECU for a couple years and I've never been more fascinated with a bank/credit union with my entire life. BECU is not just a typical "bank" either. What I love about them is that they are local. Before I became a BECU member, I used to bank with Chase for years. What I didn't like about Chase was that they have a service fee. It was probably about $6 too which was ridiculous and it hurt my bank account too. After leaving Chase for good, I had another account from BECU that my mom made for me (without me knowing for about a year or two and I thank her for that). I've been depositing my money with them on my savings account for years and just today, I visited a branch near my home and opened a checking account and got myself a UW debit card. The guy that helped me was really friendly! Too bad I didn't get his name though. I came in an hour after they opened and I'm glad there weren't a lot of people yet. He was already at the front desk talking to the receptionist when I came in and he made me feel very welcoming and comfortable. He helped me right away and it was super quick too! I think it was because I already have an account with them, just needed to open a checking. He was very helpful and while he was typing up my information, he asked how my day was going. He helped me with the process and I'm so glad it was a breeze. I'm leaving for town for the holidays and needed to get a debit card before I leave so I can use it and when we were done, he told me to have a nice trip. :) I love BECU and their customer service! read more

You're losing the opportunity to welcome a new customer by charging a fee to order checks! I am researching community banks and credit unions for my mother in law who recently moved to WA and when I called the toll free number and asked if the fee could be waived, the rep said no, they don't make exceptions. Explained I would be bringing them a $$$$ very large deposit which will just in her account. The only time my mil will be writing checks will be at Christmas. She does not use the ATM and only occurring transactions are direct deposits from her stock dividends and social security. It's obvious BECU does not need new customers! If you are a business owner, do NOT get an account with BECU. It is impossible to get cash and change, unless you want to drive to Everett or Tukwila. Our business credit card was declined regularly, despite having more than enough money in our account. And you can't get more than three months of your records on line, so come tax time, you're forced to download every monthly statement and enter items by hand. We'll be moving our business to a real bank. read more

Becu is a fantastic financial institution. The staff in kirkland are wonderful and deserve a five star rating. However I have to drop the rating since for the past 1-2 years, at least one of the two ATMs has service issues half the time I am there. It's very annoying when trying to deposit checks. Fix that issue, and the rating will go back up to a fire. read more

We were just in there, opening up a checking and savings account. The associate that we worked with was helpful, knowledge, fast, and efficient. We had a lot of questions and she had a lot of answers. She gave us advice on how to best set up our accounts and finances, and she even walked us through setting up and customizing our online accounts. AND, without us asking, she gave us the referral bonus of $25 each, since I was already a member and I "referred" my fiancée. I am VERY excited to start banking with them, and especially to take advantage of their high interest rates on the first $500 in our checking and savings accounts. Most of the time when I have to go to deposit a check their is a huge line of 6-7 people. ATM machines are slow and I have to wait for my turn for about 10-15 minutes. Few times one of the machines was down which made things even longer. I love their rates. Both of my kids got their early saving accounts with BECU and none of the banks offered as good rates as them. It would be nice that day have cash facility in the area.... read more

I have been a BECU member for about 4 years now. Rarely do I need to actually go into an institution for assistance, but I needed to go in to complete an auto loan application I started online. The experience I had was absolutely appalling and as a result my husband and I closed our membership and will be banking with a different credit union. It was absolute chaos for such a small office. The poor receptionist working up front was trying to help a crowd of people and was sincerely doing her best. What struck me was I saw 3 workers at their desks, not helping anyone and just staring at their computers. One other desk was entirely empty, and there was one other banker assisting a client at their desk. I observed those not helping anyone walk in and out of the back room, file paperwork, walk around the office, but not help anyone. After waiting 45 min, I was finally called only to be helped by an employee who seemed to have no idea what he was doing, and he was extremely rude to me for no reason. He definitely needs a lesson in customer service because he hardly spoke to me during our interaction. He spoke so fast and he had a thick accent so I kept asking "What?" to him because I couldn't understand. I could then notice him mumbling under his breath and I am certain he was swearing. I was appalled. I was uncomfortable giving this man paperwork with my personal information on it based on how he was acting. After what seemed like forever, he finally located my loan application, but at that point I was done. I no longer wanted to go through with my application, and asked him to close my accounts, and he said no! What? The reason is because my husband was "primary" on the accounts - even though we had joint accounts. I knew at that point nothing I could say or do would be nice so I just got up and left. The next day, my husband and I went to a different location and was able to close our accounts, only to be told that even though I wasn't primary on the accounts, I was allowed to close them on my own. This office is extremely unorganized and the employees do not seem to care. I am not sure how BECU picks or trains their employees, but they definitely dropped the ball at the Kirkland branch. I might have come at a busy time, but aside from the receptionist, there was no sense of urgency among the staff and the employee who "helped" me gave me one of the worst customer service interactions I've had in my life. Banking is very personal and trust is very important among the clients and staff. This experience caused me to lose all my trust in BECU. read more

I have been a member for 30 years, and I honestly do not know why they even bother with the useless express branches. They typically seem to have about 3-4 people sitting around. I understand that they do not do cash transactions, but you would think they would be willing to do account transfers and payments, but NO! When I asked about what time the drop box is picked up for the day, the clerk questioned why I would ask, as though I was planning on knocking off the armored car. Another time, when I had a simple question, a clerk directed me to a phone on the wall and told me to dial the automated help line! I thought the bank was open til 7:00. So I showed up at about 5:55 only to see that they closed at 6:00. I went in anyway, with my young children, because I was ignorant to the amount of time it takes to do the financing paperwork and process for a car loan. Jill came over and heard me telling another associate that my wife was coming to also sign documents and that she was a couple minutes away. I could tell that it was probably going to take longer than I expected, so I asked if we should come back tomorrow. Jill offered to take over because she knew it was difficult for my wife to get off work on time to make it any other night. It ended up taking until almost 7:30 to finish the process. Jill stayed an extra 1.5 hours after closing to make sure everything was finished that night so we would not have to come back again. She went the extra mile, which is something you probably would not see from larger national banks. I've been banking with BECU for about 8 years and I've never had a bad experience. One of the worst service I have ever got in my entire time I went to a bank either one of there ATMs is broken with a big line outside. I go in with my mom to talk about her account not getting her and my funds tell the lady inside who had lot of attitude asked her why it has not come into her account she give me an answer I could have gotten from there website, calls someone and acts like she does not give a sh** and than tells us to contact the people who sent it when I told her they already give us a confirmation when they sent it she kept saying that she did not even look for the most resent bank statement and kept giving us attitude and saying the same thing we call the people who sent our money to the account they show us what they sent and know I have to go back again to get a bank statement worst service in my life. Also there online login said they are not able to provide online assistance at the time Im going to make sure my family change there banks and my mom is done with them by tomorrow too. read more
