Turning in to (and pulling out of) the shared parking area by BECU from Alderwood Mall Parkway today, Wednesday 2 July 2025, I appreciated the wide curbs. My chances of bumping the curb with one of the tires of my car was reduced. Parking was available in the strip of businesses where the BECU was located. The entry to the business was clearly marked and the lobby streamlined for entry/exit and ATM use. Two of the three ATMs were in use, so I went to the open one. Making my cash deposit was no hassle and I encountered no technical difficulties. Interior temperature was cool and the windows did a good job of filtering the natural light to not be overwhelming inside. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I Was experiencing fraud attacks on my account. After being referred by the becu fraud department over the phone advising to request a new account. Number. I was denied several times when asking about getting a new checking account in person. Even after pointing out that the new debit cards continuously were compromised even the same day of obtaining a new debit card number. Each time I went in the staff insisted ."that was not necessary." And that I needn't worry". And surely having a new debit card would solve the problem even though I knew in my account had been compromised and even urged then and spoke to becu fraud department on several occasions advising to get a new account number. After disputing all the fraud on my account and wasting countless hours each time it happened after that, the staff continued to tell me I did not need a new account number and would be fine. Fast forward a month later of experiencing fraud attacks on my same account that I had for almost 5 years, suddenly received a notice that my account was being closed for good by becu due to fraud. Something which could have been avoided if they had given me a new account number like I asked the first 5times when referred by the fraud department. Additionally, because of all the lockouts of my account due to the fraudulent transactions none of my autopays went through, additionally, at times my account. Locked up and I did not even get a text or phone call notifying me! I had to find out in the middle of trying to buy gas or groceries. This happened 8 times or more within 2 months! I can't believe they still did not give me a new account! And instead kicked me off, when going into the main branch in Everett in the middle of the work day to see why I was getting kicked off my account. After explaining everything the employee apologized and asked if I wanted to keep my account, I had already waited hour or more in the lobby after receiving the phone call and took the rest of the work day off just to handle it. Additionally, I had my credit card on auto pay from the checking but the funds were not taken out due to the account being locked due to fraud. After that I left funds in my account to settle the fraud situation so my credit card could still be paid. BUT BECU BLOCKED BECU CREDIT CARD FROM TAKING THE MONEY FROM MY BECU CHECKINGS ACCOUNT TO PAY MY CREDIT CARD the money was there and they blocked this transfer within on numerous occasions. So more LATE FEES were tacked on, additionally I was forced to take more time off from work just to sit in a fucking lobby for hours at another location near my job just to make the credit card payments and "handle" the situation to which I was continuously told it was fine then only to find out later they were blocked without reasonable explanation. Never was I notified by BECU that my credit card payment would not go through even though I sat down in person to set it up and was told it would. I'm not sure why my situation was so mishandled and I ended up paying for it. Additionally, they used to withhold my checks for no reason at all for an extra 3 days if they were over a certain amount. This is the worst banking establishment ever. Don't put your money here unless you want it to get stolen. read more

My main suggestion is to make sure employees do their job. People are relying on professional help, especially from management. I have recently been through an unpleasant incident with the manager of my nearby branch location. Her name was Megan. My visa card has been incorrectly sent to the wrong address and I had to stop by physically to verify my identity and change the address in-person. Megan assisted me that day; she said everything was settled and that she corrected the address. In order to expedite the card's arrival, she said it had to be sent out to their location and I had to return to them after she gave a call back in order to activate the card and verify my identity again. On-site, I asked her twice if she edited the address and did everything she was supposed to do -- she said she did and told me to wait for their call. It was December 23rd and it was already 10 days after my card was sent to the incorrect address. Today is January 5th, it's been 13 days since my physical visit. I still didn't get my card nor a call from the location. I was patiently waiting but since I was relying on that visa card to help me pay my debt, I couldn't wait any longer and asked the online assistant for help. The live agent double checked my visa status and told me it was sent out on 12/24 but on that incorrect address again. So evidently, the manager who assisted me did not change the address nor submit the request for the card's arrival. She basically did nothing. The online agent contacted Megan from the Lynnwood location, in which she suggested again to cancel my visa card and requested to resend it over to the Lynnwood location in 7-10 business days. Due to this mistake, I ended up not being able to pay my debt on time since I have been waiting for that card from the beginning of December and I was unable to use that card to pay my old debt. I am still not sure if things have been done the correct way, as I don't know who to rely on anymore. I understand that it's going to sound dramatic but for a 63 year old lady who is desperately reliant on that card to arrive on time, it is a big deal. I don't know why individuals can't do their basic duties normally as it was before. That huge mistake was made by a manager, not even a regular clerk. read more

I was looking to move to BECU after being a longtime customer at a different bank. This process was intimidating to me, and felt a bit overwhelming, but it couldn't have gone better. The two employees I worked with were professional, efficient and answered all of my questions in a way that I could understand- and helped me make the best decisions for my auto loan and personal banking needs. Laurel and Josh made sure my experience was seamless and positive. Laurel did a great job navigating a very full lobby, setting me up with the appropriate person to help with my various needs, and Josh was great about helping me tackle my auto loan/coming up with a long term plan to pay my car off a year sooner than expected. I highly recommend BECU. But not the Lynnwood branch office. This office should be shut. Every time I go there they explain to me they are a small understaffed branch, not a real office just here to help people in emergencies since they don't have much access to many other normal services at a regular BECU office. At this branch you can only get cash from the ATM. Deposit checks & cash into the ATM. If you want any other services, you have to wait for usually 20 to 30 minutes then someone will approach you and most likely say sorry we are too small of a branch to do that. I asked to send a wire transfer and the lady said oh my, Okay I'll try. She sat me at her office made several phone calls and looked frustrated. I asked have you done this before? She said not many. She said it will take her at least 40 minutes to figure out the forms. Then she may have them ready to sign, But sine it will be after 1PM when she finishes it won't be sent out till Monday and likely not available till Tuesday. I'm okay with the delay in sending it, however why does it take so long to complete the form? She says I should just go to a bigger branch that deals with wire transfers more often. I came in yesterday to close out my account and was prepend to give a explanation as to why I was closing the account. I only had to wait a few minutes until someone called my name. I have frequently wondered what the utility of BECUs 'neighborhood financial centers' really is. I went in here today to attempt to wire funds from BECU to another institution - they couldnt do it - said I had to go to Everett. Seems to me BECU spends alot of money keeping these glorified ATM locations open. Hmmmm. I need a bank that offers full service, this isnt cutting it. read more

Terrible service. The ATM collected my money for a deposit and printed a receipt saying error when depositing my cash. I check my account balance and the deposited money didn't show. I knocked on the glass window since they weren't open to the public yet, but there were already employees inside getting ready. Employees saw me and ignored me telling me they open at 9am. I explained to them that the ATM gave me an error. The gal told me to either wait until 9am or call customer service. I have bills to pay, and especially during the pandemic, I expected better service. Since one of my bills was paying to BECU. I had to go through a process and wasted a lot of my time. Instead of ignoring a customer, help us. It really does only take 3 minutes to give me an answer to my question instead of making me wait. read more

Went here today after a security issue shut my card off. Went in to get a new one. Checked in and waited in the lobby for maybe a minute before my name was called. I was greeted by Meghan V who was so very nice and cheerful! The whole transaction took maybe 5 minutes and Meghan's friendliness and warm personality put me at ease. If you are a small business owner, go with a different bank. You can't go in to talk to a teller or get change for your cash register AND you have to make all deposits with the ATM. I'm switching my business to to a real bank. Also, the ATMs have a super slow response time. read more

Their locations may be rather few and far between compared to the big national chain banks, but I love everything about these guys. Let's start with stuff that applies everywhere: Checks are cheap. Given that one order of checks lasts me years and years and will probably survive a couple of address changes, this is nice. They can print you a new ATM card on the spot. They have purple and gold UW ATM cards. Savings, checking, money market, and overdraft protection are all free--no fees, unlike the major national chain I just jettisoned, which charged me $29 a month in fees just to have checking, savings, and money market. They seem to make a point of hiring really nice people. They all know what they're doing, too. So I mean this as a compliment, not to damn them with faint praise. But they're actually all very personable and pleasant, which is hard to find anywhere, in banking or otherwise. Truck loans are a snap to process, provided you're not doing anything weirdly complicated like moving debt around from old unfinished loans or whatnot. I've never done one like that, but it looks like even that is not a bad experience here. Their auto loans are reasonably priced and easy to manage. Their online banking services are awesome and free. They seem to have perfectly integrated systems which allow them to tie everything together into a single master account very easily, no matter how or where you add them. Given that they seem to be good stewards of capital as well, from all you can tell about that from the outside, there's really no reason not to do business with these guys. If you think local and try to take your business places where they're conscientious, then this is a natural choice. As far as this location goes, like all of them, it's reasonably well appointed, though fairly modest. You wait in a central ring of chairs while the bankers come out and read a check-in list, kinda like putting your name on a list for a table at a restaurant. They didn't waste extra money on decorating the place, but it's comfortable and very clean. You can't get a Visa card printed here, nor temporary checks, but you can get virtually anything else done. They offer financial planning as well, though I've not used those services yet. read more

We went in today for help with member advantage accounts and opened a money market account which best met our needs. The wait was minimal, a lot of staff working today. Anastasia was knowledgeable and helpful, we felt comfortable and confident leaving. The one disconnect was she said using our mobile app we wouldn't see the changes until the next day, but if we logged onto the official website we would see it today. Unfortunately we checked today and the account and our funds are not available on the BECU website. We will check again tomorrow. read more

We had the worst experience here and since it was our first ever visit to a BECU, it pretty much tainted our view of the whole organization. We were there to sign paperwork to finalize our car loan. We had done everything up to that point online and talked to someone on the phone and everything was supposed to be set up and ready to go. Sign the paperwork, get the check, done. But when we got there they were completely disorganized and didn't know what to do. It was like they had never done a car loan before! We worked with Tina and she was the most unprofessional, choatic person I have ever had the displeasure of working with. First of all, the very first thing she did when she found out we were there to sign a car loan was to sell us on a line of credit and a credit card. We hadn't even completed what we came there to do!! I wanted to say, "Why don't we do the car loan first, see how that goes, and then we can discuss other things you offer." It was very annoying. But that was just a little taste of what was to come. When she couldn't figure out how to finalize our loan, she flew off the handle, yelling at the computer and saying how the people she worked with were completely incompetent. She went as far to say, several times, how the person who we had originally talked to on the phone must be PMSing all the time because she was such a bitch. I am NOT kidding about this, this is what she was saying to us. The manager eventually came over and I thought that would help, but the manager was NO help at all. While she wasn't as choatic as Tina, she still didn't have a clue what to do to help us and didn't seem to think Tina's behavoir was out of line, which of course it was. It was awful. They tried several times to figure out what to do, and after an hour we were so horrified that we told them we had an appointment and needed to leave. We did have an appointment in Bellevue, and we asked them to send all the paperwork to Bellevue and we would complete our business there. We could not stand to be there for another second. If you can avoid this particular branch, DO! We will never be back. (Bellevue's branch saved our opinon of the entire place, though, because they were absolutely wonderful and professional.) read more

I will be closing my account as soon as they cease holding my money hostage. I was "helped" by a man named Dmitry. 1. The debit card he gave me was chipped and damaged. 2. While he rather condescendingly showed me how to deposit my check, he neglected to inform me that doing so places a very long hold on checks deposited. This means I cannot register for classes, or go to my health appointments, which has made me incapable of attending a specific course next quarter, and has rendered me incapable of receiving the assistance I need. Calling the office was equally useless, as apparently, nothing can be done. This whole experience was reminiscent of the Seattle bank that refused to deposit the black lawyer's check. It's gross, offensive, and not at all what I expected from a credit union. read more

You guys Crushed it! I came in on a Friday evening not long before closing needing some old bank statements for a club account. I was not able to access the account because a change of signer card had never been completed. One of the smartest and most helpful people I've ever encountered in retail banking listened to me carefully then offered a solution to my problem. We made a couple of phone calls to the correct people, followed proper procedures and were able to deliver the documents our accountant needed. I literally did a happy dance in the middle of the branch. I was so stoked that I forgot to write down her name, but she was wearing a Mariners jersey. Not only is she good at her job, but a fan our our local team as well. I've been into this branch several times in the past month. Even though it's always busy, I've never had much of a wait. Honestly, BECU is good but I don't like the banker that I talked to. He's not very nice.

We were trying to close a car loan on a Saturday. It was down to the last 10 minutes before the bank closed. The dealers emailed the paperwork over while we waited in the lobby. Although the bank had officially closed at 1pm, because we were in que and waiting they helped us without complaint or moaning or groaning. Our bank rep was amazing! It probably close to an hour to get all the details worked out, a check cut, and our car loan finalized. The service was AMAZING! I can't recommend BECU and the Alderwood branch highly enough. If you need help, and get there before they close, they will wow you too. read more

Becu is a terrible bank. Plain and simple. I went there Friday to resolve an issue and was told to bring in proper paperwork for insurance. The next day I receive a threatening letter. The bank is closed so I can't anyway. Fuck you becu. If my issue doesnt get resolved, I'm suing you for unlawful business practices and racial discrimation. No one should ever bank here ever. Customer service is awful. Credit unions are supposed to be OWNED by the members. This credit union behaves like the worst corporate bank. I have had 2 terrible experiences with their auto and mortgage loan departments. They added hard inquiries to both my husbands and my credit files, when they shouldn't have. Very disappointed with the service. My card was stolen about a month ago so I tried ordering another one online, they said I had to come in to order a new one as my address has changed. Went in a second time as I had not received my card, the woman sent it to the wrong address even though I wrote it down for her to copy and read it back to me. Went in a third time, the guy helping me said my address was entered incorrectly again. I asked if I could just have it delivered to the BECU location as they couldn't get my address right. He agreed and said they would call me when it came in. I called BECU and they said it was delivered there on the 13th and they decided to send it to the address on file instead of calling me. I will be canceling them as soon as I receive my new credit card. read more

Great credit union! Even when the place was jam packed, my member consultant stayed with us for an hour and a half after the branch closed.
