These guys were an absolute nightmare. I started with $462K in April 2006 (yes, I know baaaaaad…read moretiming) and finally left them in March 2012 with only $353K. I paid them aprox. $40K in advisory fees to lose me another $70K! I know that the market was a not the best during this time, but I can compare them to my other investments during that time. I didn't have all of my assets under their advisement. That's the madding thing, my smaller investments (work 401K) not only recovered within that same time frame (as did my wife's), but had a positive return by the time I left CWM (4-5%). In addition, I had purchased some securities on my own (unfortunately only a small fraction to what they were managing, $40Kish) and I was almost double by the time I left CWM (since then they have continued to do very well and I am now over 100% return). They were recommended to me by a friend that had invested with them during the boom times (2002-2005) and had made a lot of money for them, however when thing got tough, these guys fell on their faces. Long version: Recently, they decided to swap all the ATM cards with debit Visa cards and to start using them, with no mention anywhere of the PIN changes I go to the ATM and try to get cash out, well I am denied reason incorrect PIN. Tried to call them, well they are closed. Called them the next day and I am told well I have to use the new PIN. I inquired as to why I have not received the pin (been a week), and why I was not notified of the PIN change. In the letter I received implied that I need to start using the card and there was no mention that the old cards are valid for a month . Now the only option for me is to go to the WSECU and get my PIN reset. I asked her if there is anything you can do to help me as I am flying out tomorrow, her response was well I can help you find a shared branch (which I can find myself on their web site). In short talking to the customer service representative was a waste of time ! Lastly, I had also tried to call them earlier this week when I was swapping the cards, but they put me on hold forever, and I hung up.
