Walked in to ask if they offer shared branching services since I was visiting from out of state and the 1 teller upfront was helpful, but not friendly. She didn't seem busy either so I don't know why she responded so rudely. Best member credit union around. We moved to Renton 8 years ago and staff at this location helped us with all my accounts for kids early savers, loans, credit card, etc. all and outstanding rates. Great overall service, friendly helpful staff and responsive management team. Yes it's busy and like anything when lines forms, actually says something about the demand for what they have to offer. I don't know about other branches but the one near me at The Landing in Renton is awful. I couldn't believe how long it took , what would be 5 minutes at other banks took over an hour . Knowing this , when was closing my account, tried to call to see how long wait , but there is no number for local branches , unlike other banks . A person on 800 number was kind enough to get through to them to ask but it took 15 minutes. I go after being told no line . It's incredibly hot today and I was flabbergasted that they were not letting people in lobby , but instead having them wait in a hot , unairconditioned entrance , because of COVID . Now how does cramming people in an unventilated hot glass box together help prevent COVID ? when they let me in I let them know how ridiculous this was . The manager , Breanna argued with me and said no one complained yesterday and it was hotter . She also said it was commen sense that I should have known I could wait outside. I kept saying how would I keep my place in line ? She said we had you sign name . It was never explained they would come outside and get you . She continued to argue I should have known , stated didn't understand why upset with her since corporate policy . She was sarcastic when I couldn't see where to sign ( I have detached retina ) and said where it says signature instead of putting X by spot or pointing . Her rudeness was astounding. I said this is frigging ridiculous and she threatened to kick me out for cursing. I told her I said friggin and she argued again she had ears and heard what I said . So I was made to wait in hot box , told I'm stupid and a liar basically. I was not nice as I was hot , late and annoyed , but if she had just said I'm so sorry, we should have explained, I get your frustration, I would have shut up . I would never go to this branch . Excellent location, is convenient and ATMs are inside the branch. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. 3 stars only because there aren't any tellers, though you can deposit cash and checks through ATM or nite deposit. You can't wire or transfer money to other affiliate credit unions aka "shared branch". You must go to Tukwila branch for comprehensive banking. read more

Recently, I was scammed and with quick help from BECU over the phone, I was able to freeze my accounts before any damage had occurred. The BECU fraud person I spoke with recommended I close all of my accounts and obtain new ones. I visited the BECU branch at the Renton Landing and Hameed the customer service representative there took excellent care in resolving my problem. He cancelled all of my husband and my accounts and created new ones, all while staying well past the bank's closing time. His patience and great PR was an added A++. I never been the biggest fan of Chase Bank. I was originally part of WAMU and once they were bought out I waffled on changing my service since I had plans for moving, health issues, etc. However, due to some upcoming changes with Chase, and not feeling like jumping through hoops to avoid their $25 a month checking fee I felt it was time to switch my financial institutions up. I wanted to go with a credit union- a financial institution more focused on people than a bank who's only concern seems to be the bottom $. I have always heard good things about BECU -- and their joint checking/savings deal with 6.25% interest on he 1st $500 was too tempting. Not to mention the interest they have on everything after is leaps and bounds beyond what any "big bank" could offer you. It seemed like a good deal. The location is smack dab in the middle of the Landing. How much easier can it get? Get your money taken care of, do some shopping, watch a movie? It's brilliant, and close, and has 2 large atm's for all your depositing and withdrawal needs. No tellers here, apparently only one location in the area actually offers them. However there were plenty of employees there with their hands busy helping out current and new customers. I had a little bit of a wait here, but I put my name on a list and spent my time reading one of several magazine's they offered. I worked with Tim setting my accounts up. He was quick and friendly -- and was certain to let me know of all the services they offer. I got both accounts setup, with an emergency line of credit in that only comes into use and gains interest in cases off issues of health or unemployment (they have several options to choose from, and the interest rate was really low. Not that im concerned but it's nice to have that there as a "just in case".) I got a temporary debit card to start depositing as needed until I got my real one in the mail, and he printed and signed a form with all my new banking information for my work's direct deposit. He even offered me a piece of candy while all of this was going through. So far banking has been a breeze! Im happy with my choice and would not think twice going here for loans or any financial assistance as needed. read more

I've finally made the switch. Good day to you, big banks, good day! Here's what happened. One morning I checked my Chase account and see some random fee. AGAIN. Immediately enraged and flustered, I pick up my phone to call and ask once again why they have taken some of my money. What magical reason could Chase come up with this time to justify their thievery this time around? Maybe it was too sunny, perhaps the wind blew or a door slammed too loudly at the chase headquarters and they thought OH! Let's hand out some fees! Who the hell knows, but I made a decision at that moment that I was done. (To be clear, I'm not on the whole I hate every big business kick, just sick of having my money taken away.) Powerfully, I jump into my car and head right down to the BECU at the Renton Landing to discuss opening an account. There was a bit of a wait, but I've never been one of those folks who is baffled when they have to wait for what they want at a busy restaurant, bank etc. Once my number came up, I was assisted by the very helpful Pey-Ling. She was AWESOME! She used words I understand unlike every other bank I've been to. Clearly stated their terms/requirements and was honest about when and why fees are assessed. She worked quickly and was very personable. A real pleasure to talk to. She made opening a new account comfortable and easy. Every friend I've talked to that has a BECU account loves it. Haven't really heard a whole lot of negatives. I am beyond happy I made the switch. So far, things are as advertised. BECU people, thanks for being cool. Big banks, so long. read more

I've recently started going to this location since the one at the Uwajimaya closed down. The employees are really friendly and have answered all my questions with ease. There are two ATMs here and, while the lines can be long, I'm usually in and out within 5 minutes. Parking is on the street, but I've always found a spot either right in front or directly across the street. In my opinion, BECU is the only banking choice in this area. Ok, this is a post to just state what great customer service the employees of BECU are. My husband and I switched from Chase after they gobbled up WaMu. Didn't want to get snared by big banks and their love for fees and non-existent interest rates, we switched to BECU at the Mercer St location. It was quick and painless. Set up a checking, saving and an auto loan account all at once within an hour! Well, on to the best part. We were lost in the Renton Landing area, looking for our new Insurance agent. We didn't have GPS or a printed map. I decided to go into this BECU for some help. Being totally embarrassed, I asked an associate for help. With good humor, she did! She looked up the address and printed out a map for us. For this reason, I would highly recommend credit unions, BECU in particular, to anyone looking for a good, friendly and helpful financial institution. read more

I love BECU as a whole, I have been with them for over 8 years with no issues. I have never had any bad customer service from them except for today. I needed a new debt card since it is almost worn through and it is expiring next month. Customer service on the phone said to just go down to a branch and they could print me a new one. i wanted to get the UW debt card so here I am. There was no wait at all. I have been to this branch a million times to deposit my paycheck and each time it seemed that people were getting amazing customer service. Not today. The women I had was very short with me and seemed very annoyed that I was there. I am not sure what it was since there were other agents being super friendly to other customers. I told her that I wanted to get a new debt card, she asked for my card and ID. She then asked what was wrong with the one that I have, when she asked this she did so in a very condescending tone. I told her that it is worn and I am due for a new one as it is. She then slid a pin pad towards me and said "put in a new pin, twice." Ok.....Then she took my existing card and tossed it across the desk..um not needed lady. She then disappeared in the back with the card without saying a word to me. Ok..should you at least tell me "I will be back with your new card and I will destroy this one?" Makes sense to me, but she didn't say a word. Comes back, Hands me the card and says "Here you go." Again, OK. So I am gathering my purse and putting my new card away when she annoyingly asked me if there was anything else that I needed. Nope, not from you. I have never had such poor service and it is sad. I understand that everyone has off days but when every other person in the joint is getting good service and you are being rude to me, that is an issue. read more

My fiance and I came in on a Saturday right before closing and Jarred, welcomed us in with a huge smile, and a helping hand. While there he was so personable, and friendly, making our whole experience a memorable event. We came there just looking on some help on how to refinance our car, but with his above and beyond customer service, we left with two new credit cards, a line of credit, and a KILLER interest rate for our newly refinanced car. I love the concept of BECU, but the distance between their actual banking centers and the wait at them is just not functional. I live in South Seattle, at minimum it takes me 20 minutes to get to one. I am the stay at home parent of a small child and don't always know when I will have a kid free moment to get to the credit union. Once a month I need a simple cashiers check. This can take me anywhere from an hour to two hours because of the wait time at BECU. I know that I can make an appointment, but that usually doesn't work with my parenting responsibilities. I've been here waiting for half an hour after driving 20 minutes to get here. I still haven't been helped, and now I have to leave to go pick up my kid. This feels unrealistic and in thoughtful service-wise. read more

If you want personalized service, this isn't the place. I went here a few months ago to talk with them about some banking / credit needs. The lady I talked with wasn't very knowledgeable at all (it felt like I was getting "speals") and she referred me to a 1-800 number which put me into a generic type service. (This is the exact reason I left a big bank years ago) I tried the number she gave and it was impersonal and generic and didn't answer my questions. I got a survey from BECU and let them know I was thinking of switching. I told them what happened, and that I have another account at another bank and had a completely different experience when I went there. At the other place, the person there was very helpful and gave me advice. I felt like a person, not a number. Since then, the manager at BECU had called (see survey above) and said he'd be glad to sit down with me and give me some direction. I called a few months later to do that, and move forward with some of my needs. I found out he was promoted and the new manager was to give me a call. Haven't heard back. If you want personal banking with people where you don't feel like you're a "number" I would suggest going somewhere else. At BECU I felt like I was a part of a machine or a big conglomerate - impersonal. They do great with the checking and numbers part, but if you want personal service with questions answered, I'd go somewhere else. read more

I am a big fan of BECU! This particular location has super friendly, knowledgeable people working but it often takes a long time to see someone (there always seems to be a large group of people gathered in the waiting area waiting anxiously to have their name called). My biggest gripe would be the ATMs there. There are only two and half the time I go in there seems to be an issue with one of them. It's nice having them stationed inside the building, but when long lines form (which seems to be 99% of the time) it becomes awkward and squishy. You have to come prepared for potential wait time but being part of this credit union and the convenience of the location is worth it to me. read more

This is a small location but the staff is extremely helpful. I came here on a Saturday and checked in, followed by a wait of perhaps 10 minutes. I told the employee that I needed a new debit card, expecting to hear that I would have to fill out a form, go somewhere else, mail something in, or wait a few weeks. To my surprise, he asked for some identification and made me a new card right there. I even got to choose my PIN (rather than wait for it in the mail). I've never had such a straightforward and hassle-free experience with a financial institution. Nice work. read more

Just speechless. Unbelievable. Applied for an auto loan and got approved thru an online app. Called the lady that was a "specialist" and she informed me to make an appt. and any local location and they can do it. Went in and my loan was totally inaccurate to what i was told on the phone, the lady on the phone apparently was telling me incorrect information that led me to not being able to buy the car. The lady that helped me was constantly laughing and trying to bring the light that at least i know the person that i was buying the car from. I was told on the phone 5% and somehow it was suddenly 10% as well. Just incredible. This is the second time i have had a horrible experience with BECU. Cya later. The bank BECU as a whole is awesome I even choose to get a higher interest rate on car loan just to have it at my bank.. And I have never been greeted with anything but a smile and hand out for a shake.. I'm not sure you should call this a bank needs to be something else because if you want to do anything transaction wise with real money they turn you away.. After discussing what type of transaction I was going to to do the lady pointed at ATM I was like I have hundreds of dollars here and it only takes 30 at a time, she's like you just have a lot of transactions to do.. She's the older African American woman sitting at the corner furthest away from the door.. Disrespectful rude and too short no hello nothing, starts out with my name and what do you need? I need less attitude and more customer service.. Guess there is always one bad seed, I've never been treated by by this bank and I adore them, she just didn't belong there with the attitude and disgrace for the customer who if not for us you wouldn't have a job lady.. Keep that in mind and learn to treat others as you would want to be treated, you might even enjoy your job a little more if you were personable and slightly friendly try a smile!
