Bedrock is an awesome comic book store. The store is really well organized. New releases and old. Plenty of long boxes to go through and look for older issues. Huge selection of trade paper and hard backs. Staff always greets with you a hello and smile when walking through their doors. If there is anything you can't find they offer to call one of their other locations to see if it's in there and can have brought to this location for pick up. Plenty of different action figures, art work and tshirts. There seems to be something for everyone here. read more

I am unbelievably happy I was able to stop by this store. It was clean, organized, had some good comic books to choose from and great customer service. I was able to get a few really nice comic books for a really great price. Everyone in the store was super helpful and the cashiers were very kind from when I entered to when I checked out. I bought Jungle Comics #92 from them via mail order. Allegedly it was to be in Very Good condition. What they sent was in poor condition with green water stains, loose pages, rusted staples and rippled throughout.. They offered a 20% discount on a future purchase which I found not to be acceptable. After posting my review, I was contacted by the owner who apologized and provided a full refund. Perhaps I will consider giving them a try again in the future. read more

Well I had written a previous review and I guess Bedrock doesn't believe in people expressing themselves because they must have contacted yelp to take it down. Probably going to play the "you had a picture of our employee card" to fuel their need for innocence. Isn't that what this platform is for though? Expression... it says upload photo and I did.... anyway, I wrote a review prior to this review based on the Manager, RON, and his behavior at the the Fry road location on handling a situation pertaining to my subscribers box. It's funny because Bedrock didn't like what I had to say and attempted to clap back, but hey that's what businesses do. Protect THEIR interest. They were saying that I was avoiding paying for "merchandise that is un-returnable" when in reality.. I communicated properly with the Fry road location since MAY 2021 about the box. Call it broke, call it what you want, but let's be real.. they are comic books that are issued by how much supplies is accessible. One can order more, but if the product isn't there then they have to pull from what they are allowed to order or were given. Simple supply and demand scenario. I did my part to handle. After the reviews and the IG post... Finally, the owner, Richard Evans, responded and did not have much to say other than the insinuations that this was all my fault and attempted to make it sound like I was refusing to pay, and asking me what the "best way to resolve this in the future was" when in reality, I was trying to communicate through the proper channels to get the situation at hand RESOLVED already. MAYBE HAD THEY RESPONDED PROPERLY, we would not be here. Also, LET ME BE CLEAR, I WAS TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION TO BUY THE BOX...NOT AVOID THE BOX. I have a screen shot of their response to my first review that they had taken down. I never informed them I wouldn't be able to pick up the box. I was trying to evaluate all options and solutions about the box. Why else do they think I was calling.... They didn't like that. After his responding message on the first yelp review and the message he decided to tag me in on IG in hopes to troll me, a customer, crazy, didn't work. His message was to ask how we could have communicated better essentially through his review. What do you mean? I called for 3 weeks to talk to management at the westhimer and voss location and on top of that, I, again, have been communicating with the Fry road location since MAY! Finally, got a hold of Mike, who is the only manager I guess suitable to handle claims, IDK, the convo was not smooth on his side and mine. I was fed up by then so of course I took to the review sites. The reviews got the attention. I responded back and Richard did nothing but like my messages with a heart emoji that I sent him on my IG inbox. Wasn't he there to talk to me through instagram? No, he was there to write a "professional message to protect his image and employee".... Tag me in it, sit back and laugh at my experience. Not handling at all. Just comical, childish behavior. I will post the original posts through photo and I will use no screen shots of employees or their past messages and maybe THIS TIME, they won't take it down. Might affect business is all idk. So, if you choose to shop here in general just know, that they are lookin out for them, not for you in the end. read more

They've also had character appearances from the Houston Hero Headquarters such as the Gotham Sirens, Teen Titans, etc. The staff is fun and awesome. Shout out to Hyde for always being helpful! He goes out of his way. I've also seen them at Comic Palooza and the Skeeters Game on Superhero day so they are very active in the community! This is my go-to comic book store. I come to bedrock all the time, the people are generally really nice and i trusted bedrock to carry legitimate products. However there was a post advertising My Hero Academia products and we saw that there was a Midoriya & Bakugo Nendoroid so we went to two locations to buy them. We purchased them first out of excitement, but then after looking at them closely we realized they were fake. The box isn't at all like the actual products. I'm not sure if bedrock realized these are fake or not but they are selling them at full price. I'm just really disappointed in whoever is responsible for product management. If it was something small, it really wouldn't matter but the Nendoroids are around $42. I feel bad for whoever beat us to the first location for these. Ps. I noticed on their receipt it said "Ali midoriya" so I'm guessing they bought it on aliexpress so i looked it up and it matches exactly with what they had in stores lol read more

I have been to Bedrock twice. I only get to Houston every so often, but I will always make it a point to come here. They have a great collectibles/vintage section. But only problem with it (or I guess saving grace) is that I would have to get what i buy back with me on a flight, and that is easier said than done. Both times I was there, I got FANTASTIC recommendations of trades to pick up. Just this week it was Criminal and Scalped. I couldn't put Criminal down and Scalped is awesome. read more

You know, if you need a comic book you could do worse than this place. They have comics. Most of everything you could be looking for, in fact. The only thing is this: Bedrock City has a lot of locations in Houston. As such, it has a weird corporate feel that makes an adult feel weird shopping there. Yes, they can draw stock from more floor space than anyone else in town and yes, they have access to greater publisher incentives and collectible editions -- But they know that. And one gets the feeling that they would prefer everyone else know it as well. If the world of comics has an evil overlord, Bedrock City might be it. That said, sometimes one should take advantage of the enormous selection and buying power that can best be provided by an evil overlord. Ebay may be cheaper, but I doubt it is less sinister. read more

I had just read from "Best of Houston 2013" online article that the best comic book store in Houston was Bedrock City Comic Company. Some 10 minutes later I turn a corner in Houston and voila! Bedrock City is right there in front of me. Fortuitous. Upon entering, I was awed by the expansive area inside the store, the cleanliness, and the tidiness. It felt so organized and clean and spacious. I am used to going into low-overhead comic book stores that have crowded bookshelves, crowded aisles in an older building. This comic bookstore made a great first impression. The store has all you need. Lots of products everywhere, but not cluttered feeling. There are games, stuffed animals, figurines big and small, manga, kids books, kids comic books, shelves upon shelves of all sorts of mainstream and independent comic books, some comic book artbooks, comic book encyclopedias, posters... This one guy working there was really helpful. He suggested some good Batman comic books to my friend and was pretty knowledgeable about each of these different books' plots. Price of items are the prices listed on the back of books, so exactly as you would find elsewhere. Not good, not bad, just standard. This really has it all. No doubt, if you have a super special item to look for, I bet you could find it here. read more

Easily one of, if not the, best comic book store in town. They recently moved across the street into a larger location in a newer shopping center, ensuring that you have the largest possible selection of just about everything they have in stock. The only real knock on this place is that, for a comic book store, they seem to have used the extra space for all kinds of other memorabilia, including a massive stockpile of those pop figurines rather than expanding their admittedly already-impressive comic book stockpile. If you're a comic book lover or a nerd in general, you will love the selection of items. If you're looking for a gift or to start reading comic books after you've seen a few television shows or movies, they're reasonably accommodating and not rude like you'll find at other comic book stores that look down on people who aren't as into the genre as they are. read more

The best comic book store in Houston. I moved here from NYC years back. I went from comic book headquarters to Houston. I worried that I wouldn't be able to find a high quality comic book store. Well, this is it. Knowledgeable staff. Always helpful and courteous. Can't find it that item at this location? No worries they'll check with another store to see if they have the item for you. You can pick it up there or have it sent to the store nearest you. They offer subscription services. They'll pull their subscribers orders first holding them for you. They buy and sell comic books. They offer figurines from Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Science fiction, classic characters etc. They are always at the Space City ComicCon as major event supporters. They have a major presence at that event and other events around Texas. They moved into this larger location a couple of years ago. It's spacious and loaded with comic book fan goodies. I am 43yrs old. I've been reading comic books since I was a 7 yrs old kid back in NYC. I love coming here. I love seeing Dad's and Mom's with their kids turning them onto comic books. If you love to read and love illustration, there is a comic book for you and yours. Long live the comic book fandom! Well done Bedrock City. Well done. read more

I don't know much about the comic world but these guys seem super knowledgeable in their craft. They have a huge selection of apparel, bags, knick knacks, comics, pop funko figurines, and books. Stopped in for a gift and they were able to assist me with my selection quite easily. Really cool spot if this is the sort of thing you're into! read more

This is probably the store with the biggest selection of products overall in the Houston area. I'm mainly interested in Masterpiece Transformers and third party transformers so this is a notch below stores like Toy Dojo in Austin. They have many comics and collected editions. A wide range of toys like stuff still in TRU, Walmart, and Target and some older stuff like G1 transformers. The main thing that piqued my interest here was the SH figuarts Dragon ball toys. Ok for what it is but I am still on the hunt for a more Transformers specific shop. read more

Located in tucked away pocket of shopping center . Has a very large store with much inventory. Customer service they are attentive as you would want them to be even though they have a quite array of products you'd probably have questions about. But they are polite if you happen to get the employees attention. Probably has a good amount of back issues (earlier years) if your lucky to run into what your looking for. Has the most copies of issues that you could probably catch if you missed a recent issue maybe two issue back. Shelving is better maintained and inventory much close to organized. read more

Bedrock City... I love you Man. Does your father ever say "son, are you ever going to grow up?" maybe your girlfriend or wife "honey I can't believe you haven't grown up yet?" How about your daughter "daddy what does mommy mean, you haven't grown up?" This is all I have to say to that. How does this society ever expect us "guys" to grow up after they make movies out of our favorite comic books and toys as kids... seriously! Look at video games nowadays, High-def on my LCD and in high-def surround sound. Hell, they even make movies out of our favorite video games. Ladies and Gentlemen, the defense rest. I would say Bedrock City is probably a comic book store all grown up. I recall, as a kid spending hours upon hours in comic book stores, dark dingy, unorganised. Well now I'm all "grown up" and regretfully I don't have hours upon hours to peruse a comic book store. It is well lit and organised, and the help is attentive. I can get in and out if I need to or if I have a few minutes, I can look for a gem. The selection of memorabilia is plentiful. Bedrock has the largest selection of DC and Marvel comics t-shirts I've seen in a long time. I was looking for a Captain America t-shirt last week, because that's what I do, and I walked in and found it in no time. They even had a few Lucha Libre masks, had me wondering when Los Straitjackets were coming back to Houston. Anyhow, I've made it in a few times and look forward spending some quality time in Bedrock City. read more

Mediocre customer service at best. The daily dilemma seems to be 'which energy drink or snack can you grab for me?' at the store next door vs. can I help you find anything in particular? Three years I've been an avid shopper at this and the Washington location and the corporate stench that permeates has finally driven me away. There are other comic book store options in Houston. As a comic creator I like to support my "LSC" but unfortunately I don't feel the love from these guys. With Amazon and Digital comic retailer options... why put up with mediocre customer service? Never helpful, not particularly friendly, unavailable. Scan, bag, ka-ching. Scan, bag, ka-ching. I made a point to BUY comics on Free Comic Book Day at each location because I feel it's important to support retailers that do participate. But it's the last I'll spend at any Bedrock City. I'm publishing two comics with an acclaimed artist, I'm renting a theatre at Alamo Drafthouse, open to the public, prizes and movies for our comic's launch. I've reached out to these guys a couple times to try and facilitate something and to get the word out to local comic fans and I've been blatantly ignored and scoffed. You don't support creator owned, I get it. But creator owned projects, such as mine, make up a large part of your sales, I can assure you. Y'know, that's fine. Bedrock's a business, I foolhardily assumed this company would want to celebrate comics at the local level. You've got "readily available" going for you... and that's about it. read more

I have no qualm whatsoever admitting that I am a comic book geek. Whoever said that men don't have guilty pleasure was lying straight from his hate hole. We do. And I confess: mine is blatantly obvious the moment I walk inside Bedrock City Comics, sniff the fresh comics in the air and the new plastic scent off of the comic book-related toys, and then sigh like a woman in a Louis Vuitton shop. Some folks say that Bedrock city has become a little "corporate" with the presence of their three shops. But who cares? My thing is that I will always frequent a shop so long as they have two basic things - the books that I want and the service that I need. If there are three locations that offer those two modest qualities that I seek, then all the power to them. They deserve to grow as they do. Bedrock is always clean and organized compared to other locations in Houston. If there is a particular back issue that I'm looking for but isn't present in one of the stores, I have always found a clerk who is willing to call the other shops to locate it in their stock and deliver to a store of my choice. The clerks are very amiable, too. I'm yet to encounter one that acts snooty and turns up his nose at me because I don't know the difference between a Bruce Wayne from a Bruce Campbell (not that I don't. I do! I'm just saying...). In the past, other comic stores not with the Bedrock name seem to always employ at least one elitist clerk with an Encyclopedia Britannica approach to comic books, sci-fi movies and television that seem to mimic an uncomfortable version of a Kevin Smith film. Instead, at Bedrock City, they have a friendly and helpful staff. And if they have a need to release mockery at my expense, it'll happen once I'm out the door and a mile away. Bedrock also offers subscription services. So if there are particular books that you want the staff to hold for you till your next visit and not miss an issue, they'll gladly do so; and never once will they act as if you are inconveniencing them if you ask them to retrieve it for you (again, at least not until you are mile away or so). Where else will you find pot-bellied thirty-something's with Captain America t-shirts swooning over an Edward Scissorhands action figure? Where else will you find customers drooling over a magazine cover of the new the Transformers movie with a sexy picture of Megan Fox and not know if they are going ga-ga over her or the movie. If you want a little sanctuary away from a city of purple nurples, noogies, and flat tires, I suggest Bedrock City Comics as such a place to feel like a kid again without the shadow of a bully looming behind you to take away that piece of bliss from you. read more

My friend who is a comic book nut was visiting me from Atlanta and made it known that it was my duty to take him to an awesome comic book store when he arrived. First place that pops up in my mind...Bedrock City. I was so happy to see that they have moved to a bigger location. The only place was so dark and sad looking. This place is much bigger, well lit, and organized. The winner for me was the hello kitty section and the venture brothers lunchbox. Those pieces alone had me wanting to apply for a job there just so I could touch things. Yep I'm one of those people. Take me to a toy store and I want to touch everything. Okay back to the comic store....the people were very helpful and knowledgeable. My friend was impressed with everything except he stated that their back issues are a bit pricey but other than that the place was awesome. Bedrock City Comics has just moved across the street's plaza next to goodwill. Came for the Halloween Special Event and was blown by the new store's layout. It is very spacious, and I don't need to feel uncomfortable in such a small area like in the old store. What I appreciate about this store is how the people who work here are very helpful and nice. They try their best to get you what you need. If you were to ask about Batman, they could go on forever with recommendations on what type of book or figure you could get, they are very informative about it. It also amazes me how they remember what you like to look for even after not seeing you for a few weeks. For the halloween event pretty much everyone was wearing costumes and it was very fun. I hope there gets to be more new things as the year goes. Great place to check out. read more

Been here a few times. The employees are very nice and always greet you and offer you their help. I don't get the same feeling when I used to walk into Midnight Comics with my brother; ignorant. When I'd go there, it always felt like the people working there felt like they were superior to me in some way, like their knowledge of the NerdWorld overtook my knowledge of GirlWorld. But here, at BedRock City, I feel so welcomed! I don't feel awkward browsing with my boyfriend or buying something I know nothing about for someone else. They have a great selection of Tokidoki shirts for girls and guy, and plenty of other Marvel/DC shirts hanging on the right wall. This place has a lot of cute little nick-nacks, too. And if you're lucky, you'll find a shirt on sale! I'm now the proud owner of a Wonderwoman shirt :) their comic books seem to be in good condition and at a reasonable price, though I'm not very up-to-date with such things. I enjoy coming here and wandering around, checking out their stuff. read more

Went to one of your stores on West timer down in the energy Corredor to sell a few comics. I felt like they should've been pretty straightforward in CGC cases rated. However I was asked to go to the location near Hillcroft and West timer is the store just doesn't have that capability yet. So I drove several miles down the road to go to the other location. Like I said before should've been straightforward there CGC rated makes the market value pretty easy to decide over. To be honest I expected about half of what they're worth if I want cash that day and I get that but to be offered less than 10% of what they're worth was a slap in the face. Makes me not want to shop there and certainly not sell anything to them. read more

Easily the best selection of items in town of any of the Houston comic book stores. Their rotating stock of used stuff from collections is good as well, though it varies greatly from location to location. The service and other variables are different from store-to-store, but I think that my favorite of the five is the Westheimer location. The parking situation is much better now that they have moved to a larger location, but the area is still very traffic heavy, which can be a hassle. There are always plenty of staff available for questions and recommendations, and most are knowledgeable and helpful. I have had a few less-than-great experiences over the last 20+ years, but that's not unusual. I wouldn't sell here though, they cherry-pick your collection and only make an offer on the books they want, which are always the best books. I understand that those are the ones they want, but you can do better selling large collections through other means, though not as quickly. Bedrock has been around a long time, and they have the inventory to prove it. When it comes to back issues, you can't do better. They have extensive runs of pretty much every book from Golden Age through current. The prices are competitive enough to make it worth digging, as long as you're up on current values. Also something to note, their grading is extremely accurate. I always feel comfortable with grades they apply to books. One thing that Bedrock has an advantage over other local stores in is that they have multiple locations, so if the one you're at is out of something, they can call around to their other locations and you might still get the item you want. Bedrock is one of the oldest stores in town, and they've survived this long because they do business the right way. Highly recommend them particularly if you're inside the loop. The Washington location is far better than Nan's or Third Planet, FAR BETTER. If you're down south, the Clear Lake location is pretty much the only game in town. The 1960 Bedrock location is a good store in its own right, but I don't like the location at all, and that parking lot is mayhem! The newest location in Sugarland is amazing, definitely a competitor to the main Westheimer location. The staff is friendly and helpful (looking at you, James), the store is clean and well lit, if they had the inventory of Westheimer, this would be my favorite location. Westheimer location is a Houston staple for the comic community, and the larger location has made it even better. Bedrock is still a great option for Houston comic book fans after all these years. read more

The inside is fairly a decent size enough room to walk around in, the comic book selection is awesome, so are the action figures, & the clothes are pretty cool. The place is very inviting... well lit, organized... not your traditional comic book / collectables store vibe, but that's what makes it nice. The employees are friendly and helpful, they are happy to go digging for something if you are looking for it and will get it from the other stores if they don't have it on hand.
