the moment you open the door, before you realize any shape of any toy on the display, you are immediately welcomed by the vibrant colors of the store. such great variety of games, action figures, vintage magazines & comics and rare dolls from decades ago. I brought my friend who is a big anime lover and the moment we went inside, his face lit up like a small boy in a toy store...i mean it's not that far fetched lol! he instantly left my side and i knew this place was definitely a comeback! i am not sure of what all he seen but i took pictures of my favorite things i was very interested in! ESPECIALLY the Heavy Metal vintage 1970 comic books. I'm sure the value of those magazines where literally a lot of in one of the employees opinions, "PRICELESS." I agree.LIKE WHAAAAAT! only had three because one donor donated loads of things and these were the only comics they donated, so if you have some old comics lying around, come to Misfit Toys and donate them, i would love to take them off of you! my favorite thing about this store (besides the comics) was the figures. The Simpsons was such a vibeeee! I literally wanted all of them and the backdrops! Also, the Michael Myers collectors doll with all the matching pieces....would be the perfect gift for anyone who is an obsessed fan of Halloween or just horror genre in general. I also loved the arcade game machine in the front right before you open the door :) such a throwback 80s/90s feel! Not sure what game is on the Arcade machine, but it works perfectly! I was there earlier today selling some toys with the owner of the store trying to see how much I can get. As we were discussing how much, he then starts criticizing the toys I was selling saying rude comments such as "this isn't going to make me money", "this is worthless no one is interested in this", etc, when I declined his offer on how much he would give me I said no it's fine then proceeds to say "ok I didn't want them anyways". He didn't want to give me much for the toys I was selling which was totally fine. I understand he is running a business and has to make profit I GET THAT! But saying rude comments was unnecessary. I come here all the time to buy stuff from them and never complain how much I spend. But for him to treat the client so poorly is unacceptable. read more

Was shopping and heard the owner talking to a guy wanting to work there "we don't hire women because they don't work out." Classy. Additionally their prices are stupid high, selling figures with upgrade kits as "new" when that's obviously not the case if it has an upgrade kit, it's open, it's used. The owner is really just a fan of horror toys and memorabilia, but takes advantage of other types of fandom to fund it, so prepared to pay a lot for a Transformers or Power Ranger items. Save your money and go to Third Planet or Bedrock city comics for your figures. read more

This place is something to check out! You could spend an entire day here and not see everything. Two big rooms filled with sooooo many toys. Vintage Star Wars and Star Trek, Godzilla, Cases full of Japanese toys, old tin toys, games, lunchboxes even some more modern stuff like Funko Pops. They literally have it all. The employee working when I was there was very knowledgeable and was happy to explain the origin of some figures that I had no clue what they were. This place is really fun. I'm a 90s kid so most of the toys there are straight out of my childhood. They have plenty of older toys and newer toys as well. Daniel, the owner, is a very helpful and knowledgeable guy. He's fair when giving you cash or store credit for your old toys and honest when he tells you what he can and cannot sell. I drop by every time I'm in The Heights just to see what they have because there's always fun new stuff. I've stopped here a few times over the past year or so whenever I am in the area. Misfits has a good selection with some nice finds. Some of the items are a little more "loose" than others, but they also have a good selection of boxed items. I'm mostly here for the Transformers -- which they have quite a bit of, but there are a lot of other items as well. The prices are pretty decent. Some things I'll say are slightly overpriced, but there are many well priced items as well. That's the fun in this place. The owner (I believe his name is Daniel) is very friendly and always recognizes me when I come. Most of the time he won't let me leave here empty handed and will haggle with me if he sees me eyeing one item in particular. I appreciate this kind of customer satisfaction. If you're on the hunt for new/loose collectibles, this place is it. I've gone to many of the other collectibles stores in Houston, and this place has the best selection and pretty fair prices. read more

My family and I recently moved to the Houston area from the West Coast and were looking for a new toy store. We sure are glad we found Misfit Toys. While I was initially skeptical due to poor experiences with other toy stores, I found myself nothing but pleased and pleasantly surprised by the selection and crew at Misfit. All of the staff that we interacted with were incredibly friendly and helpful. The owner of the store went out of his way to get to know us. What's more, I returned later in the afternoon with a few boxes of toys to sell, and I was stunned how fair and willing they were with their offer - as many of you may know, a lot of stores like this will low-ball offers or scoff at your ask. Neither of these things happened, and I have never been so pleased with a small business as I am with Misfit Toys. Beyond just being genuinely kind folks, they made an active effort to engage with my young son and help him find things that he would also love. And that's just the business side of things! Their selection of toys was staggering, including the biggest selection of secondhand Transformers toys I have ever seen. If you ever find yourself in need of a cool place to visit, or a place to indulge your fandoms - look no further. I would give Misfit Toys 10 stars if I could. read more
