Picked up a…read moresweet vintage sweater that was marked $10, put it up at the counter with some other things (so I could shop hands free) and kept wandering for a bit. After perusing a while longer I went to check out. Was told the total was $31 and some change..... I was so confused and asked how (the real price should have been $21 something) so she goes on to say "oh yeah the sweater is $20, that's $10 and half off and those are so and so and so and so". Well, that's odd - I thought.... But I wanted the sweater so I just paid to get out of there. (Paid cash like an idiot and didn't get a receipt ) Got to my car to check the price tag on the sweater and what do ya know?? She took it every other price tag was still intact on every other item I purchased (as I know some antique stores save the tags for the separate vendors to keep track) so now it's double Hinky!! I'm bummed I didn't go back in and ask to see the tag but what can I do now. Oh well, live and learn. Hang onto your items if you shop here otherwise you're liable to fall prey to the age old switcharoo!

I loved that most items were out in the open for touching and exploring, with fun low-price trays and bins mixed in with tagged treasures. The staff (two wonderful women) were so kind and engaging - we had a fun conversation about the shop. Unfortunately, the ringing-up process was frustrating and felt chaotic. Purchases were split by dealer, but without a clear tally or saved tags, double-checking was nearly impossible (tags got mixed with others from earlier sales). It left me unsure if the final total was accurate - $95 or $115 makes a difference! I wish there was a better system for transparency. I adore the nostalgic, hands-on feel here and the amazing inventory, but the checkout experience might keep me from returning soon. They also put all of my pieces ($111 worth of jewelry) into one organza bag- nothing was protected. Still recommending for anyone who loves digging through real antiques!

As with all "antique" shops, I prefer when everything is truly antique. Several vendors here have purchased new items and are selling them: pins from your favorite shows like Friends, cheap jewelry from overseas and candles with kitschy sayings. That's always such a turn off for me. The actual vintage pieces are very cool- I walked with several jewelry scores! The owner was at the front while I was checking out when I asked for a deal on 2 of the most expensive pieces in my pile. He basically responded "no" with no further explanation. I wished there was a bit of wiggle room after spending quite a bit of money.

Some of the booths that used to be accessible are now blocked off and loads of items piled high. I came to find out they are all rented by the manger and a renter of the store and he has taken to piling items inside the front door and by the counter. Unacceptable. Half the store is a store and the other is a storage locker. Good luck in finding items and how embarrassing for the other renters.

A couple of friendly folks greeted us at the front and asked how we found the shop. Unlike some "antique malls," it is not overcrowded, and is reasonably easy to navigate as someone with mobility issues; did have a distinct musty smell especially at the front. There is also a large selection of beads and crystals in the mini-store called Magpie that is in one corner. Expect to pay St. Charles prices here. In the same building as Trend + Relic.
