Someone has really thought about the design inside as everywhere you look there's an interesting piece of art or intricate decoration. I absolutely love the stain glass windows around the venue but be warned, if its a cold evening they are not the best at keeping the cold out! The drinks here are all absolute spot on, however the food has been slightly hit and miss. I have had fantastic lunches, but when eating in the evening, I am yet to be impressed. The prices are just slightly more than average, but at times the food is not. Overall this place is definitely worth a try....but with AMAZING bars just round the corner are you willing to take a chance....

My first experience of The Rose Villa Tavern was about a year ago, when I popped in for a drink one…read morebusy Saturday afternoon. I immediately liked the vibe of the place, and the quirkiness of the decor, in particular, the old red telephone box that houses an array of bottles. Whilst I have eaten there a couple of times last year (prior to my yelp days), brunch on one occasion and dinner on another, I've never been wowed by the food, even though I've always enjoyed it. Last night, however, was a different matter altogether. I was wowed! I went along with a friend and had the pleasure of a free meal and a bottle of wine, courtesy of the Yelp Snaps Local competition. I was pleasantly surprised by the latest menu, which offered some intriguing dishes, and certainly not just bog standard fare. Finding myself torn between 3 options; Venison & Cherry Stout Pie, Slow-cooked Oxtail & Root Vegetable Stew or Spiced Root Vegetable & Coconut Curry, I took a while to decide. In the end, the promise of honey roast parsnips and pancetta mash, which were the sides for the Venison & Cherry Stout Pie, won the day! We had to wait quite a while for our meals, whilst others who had come in after us and ordered the 2-4-1 burger offer that is available on Wednesday nights, seemed to get served really quickly, however it was worth waiting for...and it's not often I can say that and mean it! The presentation was fabulous, and far more interesting than on previous occasions. Rather than just receiving a dish of food, we each received a wooden platter of dishes, so it looked delightful and to be honest, it's a minor miracle that I remembered to take photographs, so eager was I to get stuck in! My friend had the steak, which looked very tasty (and apparently was) and I hungrily tucked into my Venison & Cherry Stout Pie. What a treat! It really was delicious, packed full of tender Venison, with more than the occasional juicy cherry making an appearance and thus remaining true to its word! The taste was amazing, and the accompaniments worked perfectly. The only tip I would give for the RVT is to wear layers, as it did feel rather cool in there, and if you want to order dessert, do it before 9pm as we missed out by chatting and not realizing the time. Having said that, the meal was actually really filling, so we didn't NEED dessert, we just fancied trying it out as there were some interesting options! So, the verdict - great food, good and friendly service, a nice choice of Mocktails if you're driving (or just a non-drinker), good coffee and a varied and interesting menu. I would definitely go again, as I'm actually quite keen to try the Oxtail option, and if possible, make it all the way to dessert.

The hot wings from Oceans are lovely. As a fan of hot wings, usually KFC ones, I know the difference between tasty chicken and not so tasty chicken- it's my speciality. They do have a lot of meal deals in Oceans, really cost effective for students and for those on a budget. It's great to know that £2.50 can still buy you a meal which includes a drink as well. Their kebabs are also delicious. If I'm feeling like having something different, I do have the kebab meal; however this is £3.50 instead.

Instead, you get the shadow of a former Toys R Us, bus fumes and the sound of a moaning dad or three. However, the absence of the seaside outside is compensated by the little gem inside. Golden chips (proper, fat'uns), well-battered fish and a range of chippy extras - scallops and oi, oi, saveloy - make this a worthwhile visit, especially if you need some quick scran on the way to the Giant Screen Cinema (formerly IMAX) at nearby Millennium Point. I explained I had a scalp infection causing acne and other embarrassing conditions, but our server, a short rotund woman named Chloe, insisted it had to come off. Twice. So, like a condemned man, I removed it -- along with my last scrap of dignity. The restaurant was quiet at first, but around 5:30 pm, a family of five arrived and sat directly in front of us: two adults (clad in shiny polyester Adidas sportswear, heavily tattooed in a way that suggested Ross Kemp might need danger money to visit their past neighbourhoods) and three children -- one toddler, two around 8-10. The children instantly turned the restaurant into a chaos zone: climbing on furniture, knocking over fixtures, and generally treating the place like a soft-play centre without the mats. At one point, the woman -- wearing a luminescent pink tracksuit -- began breastfeeding right there, mid-chaos, while I was eating my main course. Not quite the pairing I had in mind with my ribeye. I even have a photo: a child climbing the fixtures while the faces of my dining friends display the full misery of the moment -- expressions fit for a stress management course poster. No Chloe. No management. No intervention. Just noise, mess, and the sinking feeling that my cap was apparently a bigger offence than total anarchy.

We were seated at the bar, which is fine, we like sitting in the bar. The bartenders were pretty good, making some good craft cocktails with interesting ingredients. I give 2 stars for the booze. The service from the waitstaff was terrible. They ignored us until we made a fuss, then they seemed really put out by having to take our order. Yes, doing their job was too much to ask. When our food finally came it was mediocre, and I had no cutlery. I asked the server for cutlery when she delivered the food...waited...she never came back. I eventually went to the wait-staff station and got my own damn fork & knife. Annoying. For the price and the "air" of what they're trying to do, they could do a lot better job in terms of service and food quality. The booze situation they have well in hand. Good job there - cheers.

The Atlantic Fish Bar is probably the best fish and chip shop in Tamworth, or around for some…read moremiles. Their batter is light and crispy, and much better than other chippies I've tasted. They are only open until 2pm for lunch, and then again at 6pm for dinner, so make sure you don't leave your lunch chip run too late. The staff are really funny here -- really friendly, joking about with each other, and making the customers feel really welcome. They aren't the most efficient fish and chippers around. There is an understanding amongst Atlantis' customers that it may take longer to get served here than other shops, due to the silly banter and general camraderie. The queue is always quite long, especially on a Friday night, like most similar shops. From the size of the queue, it's easy to guess how popular this place is. The haddock and cod are really lovely, the chips are nice and fresh, and the chicken kebabs are to die for, if dying for a kebab is your sort of thing. I personally don't care for the Friday night fish n chip run, but being married to an Englishman, I make my sacrifices, with the caveat that if we get fish and chips, it's from Atlantic.

I stayed a month on vacation and ventured around the city craving that same taste and haven't found the quality, and freshness Le Codfather provided. The staff is very friendly and down to earth!
