I love steak and Sonora Grill is one of the best steak places in CDMX. It's like their Ruth Chris,…read morebut lucky for us, the exchange rate gives us a great discount. When we went cocktails were buy on get one free, which put it at normal CDMX pricing. Cocktails are made well here. As for food, we got beef carpaccio, grilled octopus, truffle fries, rib eye cap and bone marrow tacos. More than enough food for 4 people. We actually had left overs and ate it 2 days later at the airport and it was still delicious!! The rib eye was cooked to perfection. Ask for salt service and they bring out a variety of salt to try on your steak, not that it needed it, just fun to try. The octopus was delicious too. So tender. The bone marrow tacos were good but very rich. But the end of our rich meal, we were t able to finish it. They finished it off with some fresh hot churros for us. Great experience! Trying to go to Sonora Prime anytime I get a chance, luckily it's in all major Mexican City.

We had bites and drinks before our main dish. The margaritas were popping. I had never had "lengua". It was so tender the broth in which it was served really hi the spot. The ambiance is great, a lil noisy but we were there during happy hours, the service was great! Our severs were really At tentative. I even got a margarita on the house. Overall great service, good food. Their specialty is steaks and they don't disappoint. I didn't go with a steak this time, I am glad I decided to have the lengua. The gravy type sauce that goes with it is so full of flavor.

Nevertheless, I ate everything on my plate. Also, we ordered meat empanada and corn empanada---both are delicious. Prices are a little steep $40 USD for 2. Temperature of the food could have been warmer/hotter. Nothing came out piping hot. My favorite was actually the chimichurri made with spinach, cilantro, oregano, garlic etc. The salsa was too "pica" for me. Sesame sticks (served with bread) have that awesome 'crunch' I like so much. I poured the chimichurri on the grilled octopus ---that hit the spot! Also, those who are checking in on Yelp! should beware that this restaurant will NOT honor the Yelp 15% discount. We showed the waiter and the manager the yelp offer. Both are unaware of the offer. EVEN if you show them the yelp offer, they refuse to honor any discount!!!! We tried to argue with them. The manager first told us he would honor the offer, then 5 minutes later he came back to our table to tell us that he would not honor it after we had already ordered. The restaurant isn't very accommodating. I appreciated the quietness of the ambiance. I got tired of going to other restaurants where it was so loud with a dozen kids screaming and running around along with loud music. They don't speak much English. So it helps to speak Spanish or have someone with you who is fluent. The menus are 100% Spanish as they don't offer an English version. Come if you want a quiet place, don't mind spending a bit more, and don't mind paying full price. The food quality is very good and fresh. grilled meats are their signature items.

LOVELY PLACE, BUT WATCH OUT FOR THE UPSELL - Right on Paseo de la Reforma, on the second floor,…read moreyou'll find The Capital Grille, the same upscale chain you'll see in many major cities. They pride themselves on an elegant atmosphere, polished service, and fine dining, and to be fair, they deliver on the vibe. You feel like a bigshot the moment you walk in. The servers are friendly and professional, and the menu, while notably expensive overall, focuses heavily on high-end steaks and classic sides. We didn't order steak, as the prices were well beyond what we wanted to spend, so we opted for the dry-aged burger at around $24 USD. We also ordered grilled asparagus, and the burger came with truffle fries. The asparagus was quite good. The fries were decent. The burger, however, was dry, bland, and a bit tough, and it arrived overcooked despite ordering it medium. There was also an issue with the wine menu. When presented with options, the more economical bottles (still $60 usd) we asked about never seemed to be available, while plenty of alternatives at roughly double the price were readily available. That was odd notably because the menu was electronic... Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. It's a lovely place, and it's perfectly suited for a drink and maybe an appetizer if you're looking for atmosphere. Just be prepared to pay for the experience itself. If you are, you'll probably have a good time. If not, you may leave feeling a bit soured. Happy eating from John Seeto!

We capped our trip to this fair country with a visit to (of course) Capital Grille. You know with…read morethe extra "e" in Grill you're not in Providence RI (yes founded 1990 if you can believe it). But the service and ambiance had all the hallmarks of top-of-brand. Firstly, don't expect to escape this establishment without a much lighter wallet, so cash in some of those stocks around the roundabout at the Mexican Stock Exchange and go for food-broke! Our waiter was a master at several things: among them the upsell. I nearly skipped the appetizer until he informed of the "half cup" of soup. A finished creamy clam chowder later, I was admiring my choice and his skilled power of suggestion. Wait! Is that truffle I see multiple times on the menu? One day I'll order 100% truffle items, but I was with a business group, so I'd better act all businessy. "Hey any of you up for 100% truffle?" (I said in my head). If only! Maybe I'll find another business group to hang with. I hear Truffle Co is hiring (I wouldn't last a week). Back to the main event. I of course got the truffle mushroom risotto, and here comes Mr Upsell back for the win: "you would certainly like prawns with that." But of course. I know I should have gotten steak, but I was finishing a long week of meat-indulging, so I needed a reprieve. I was so healthy with seared spinach instead of creamed. But as usual the sides are enormous, so soon I was passing that and receiving Mac-n-cheese and truffle fries. This meal is turning out to be healthy! Everybody's steak looked fabulous, as did the fish, and whatever else anybody got, etc. My "dessert splitting" compadre didn't disappoint, and we got the crème brûlée, which was as it should be (and big enough for three). That and a cappuccino put me into the happiness zone. Perhaps I'll return soon, not that I wouldn't go back tomorrow, it's just I probably need to wait for my stocks to come back up a little before the next visit.

It felt like a Parisian cafe because of the two sides the outdoor seating lined. It was nice to eat and people watch as well as have fresh air and space for the toddlers to make noise. I tried fried fish, a sandwich, and a chicken soup. The soup was hearty and felt like home. They had sports playing on the TVs so you could watch. The bad: This place was pricier than I expected. We probably should've tried the steak but we wanted something quick/affordable because of our toddlers who often cannot sit down for long at a restaurant. The interesting: My toddlers were both having a fit when we came so the kind workers here tried to give them a piece of chocolate to appease them. Thank you!
