You will get a warm Irish welcome from the moment you walk in. We were there to watch a match. The pub is a great venue for sports, having loads of screens around the bar so you will always be able to see whereever you are and a back room with a giant screen. In particular if you are looking to watch Irish sport, GAA or Munster rugby this is the place to go - for Munster fans this is the new South London base of the Munster Supporters Club. After the match was over we stayed on to enjoy the craic. The pub has a great beer garden and best of all the beer is cheap - two pints for less than £7, an absolute bargain!!! Later in the night there was a fantastic band who had us all up dancing. There was also a man selling oysters and guinness, of which we indulged more than we should have. Overall we had a fantastic night and I can't wait to go back again - highly recommended!

The pub is split into three main areas - the restaurant at the back (or the front depending on how you look at it) which was deserted. There is the main bar that was 50% full, warm and a bit more lively, and then there is the covered outside part that I suspect smokers hang out in. We sat in the bar, quite naughtily taking up a table for 6 with just the two of us - but then the other options were just too small or too 'in the corner' (I pretended I was Goldilocks). We ordered a bottle of red - the Zinfandel Shiraz, (£20) of which the bar tender gave us a pretty generous tasting amount before we committed. He also brought us a lovely big bottle of tap water and glasses with ice and lemon. Having the voucher in our pockets gave us the courage to go for the rather alarmingly priced roasts - we both chose the lamb at £15. It was superb. It was falling off the bone in a delicious gravy with almost perfect veg, I could have happily had the parsnips roasted for 20 minutes longer (they were less 'al dente' and more 'ouch me dente'). I would have loved more roast potatoes and less aubergine (!) but all in all it was really nice and we ate everything on our plates. Our thoughts then turned to pudding.... well, it would be rude not to at least look, right? It was a dark and rainy night, so bread and butter pudding and custard seemed the only sensible choice. Hmmm, it tasted ok, could have been hotter with less icing sugar dumped on the top (at least there was no aubergine this time) but my real issue with it was that it was tiny. Really really small and measly. (See photo). I mean, when I'm paying £5.50 for what is essentially stale bread and sultanas in custard, I expect a decent portion. It must have cost around 8p to make the slice I had - good mark up if you can get it! The coffee was abysmal. In the usual inverse coffee rule, it smelt so wonderful and then tasted slightly better than dish water. The loos were a frightful state, and when I alerted some woman who was walking around not doing very much, she was pretty defensive about it saying that she had not gone in there since that morning. I think that may be the problem, I said. The chap that seemed to be in charge was good and apologised for the small portion and let the sous chef know, but it was impossible to get the attention of anyone else who seemed to be working there. I gave up trying to get anyone to come over to our table and just walked over to wherever they were if I wanted anything. Even with the voucher, (which they didn't take off the first bill we were presented with) it came to £30 per head, which in retrospect was a lot more than I think the meal was worth. The lamb gets it two stars, but everything else looses the other three stars. Shame, as it looks like it has so much potential.

The Port chop was chewy and flavourless The hake was dry with stodgy rice instead of the Malaysian coconut rice. The description differed from what was served. Three people ended up with a 250 pound bill which was way over charged for both the food and drinks. This is a pub not Rules in Covent Garden where we have paid less for a better meal! Waiters were ok but not enough of them for a busy restaurant. For the first time dining out in 2026 this was extremely disappointing and way too expensive. Alma, you need to do a lot better for what your charging!

The Bridge House Tavern is just a 10 second wander from the bottom, Penge end of Crystal Palace Park makes it a good rest-bite for families and friends after a day of picnicking and running around in the park. There's a big beer garden, with tatty wooden tables dressed up with colorful paint. The inside is small and bitty and attempts to be a bit trendy. There use to be a Theatre above the pub with regular events like cabaret, but that seems to have vanished and is no longer advertised. The menu bored me to tears, not even tempting me to buy some chips. There wasn't much choice behind the bar and it was not the cheapest of places. I guess with all the mundane-ness of the place, the slow, rude service didn't help my experience. Meh.

Er, no. The couple weren't impressed either. Incorrect drinks were delivered before waiting 30 mins for food. The saddest thing about it was that it appeared that they had all learned a script, complete with the word Guys at every juncture. As we left, they made a spectacle out of the fact that we didn't respond flamboyantly to their loud goooodbyyyyeee. It was frankly embarrassing. The prices are higher than central London, which makes the whole experience rather unfortunate.

Met some friends here for a roast dinner. It was decent fare, and they absolutely do not skimp on the trimmings. After hours this place becomes a chilled out lounge type bar with some sofa areas and some decent tunes. Prices on the drinks are reasonable and they're all very, very well mixed. Props to the bar staff. It might not be the trendiest place on earth but it is a fantastic place to spend an evening with friends. Protip: the 50/50 rye and cognac sazerac is really quite excellent.
