Amazing selection of beers. Great customer service. I read a complaint about them selling beer way after the sell by date. That's an easy fix. Check the date before you buy it. It's a problem I had today. I didn't even think to look. When I got home I noticed it was pretty old. I have to write an update on Beer World after yesterday's visit (See my original 5-star below). My wife and I visited Beer World on 12/28/17 and while the beer selection is still beyond comparison, the service yesterday was lacking. Every other time we've been here, or sent people here because we liked the place so much, the people working there pretty much fell over themselves to assist. These folks have always been amazingly helpful and knowledgeable, but yesterday we got no assistance. Weren't even greeted when we walked in the door. I get that it was early and it was a random Thursday, but we stood by the tester/growler area and the create your own areas while one guy was restocking and he never asked if we needed help...in fact he pretty much ignored us completely. The other guy walking around doing inventory did the same thing...walked past me four times with his clipboard and never once asked if I needed help. My wife and I have purchased a LOT of beer here over the past few years and we wait to come here until we visit relatives (we live in Jersey) so we were very disappointed in yesterday's visit...even though we DID spend over $100 again. AllI can say is that if this were my FIRST visit here I might not come back based on the lack of assistance, because the place CAN be overwhelming for someone who doesn't know their beer... Hope the next time is better... Original Review I'm writing this review for my wife who recently had the greatest beer shopping experience ever at Beer World. She was looking for a single bottle of beer for me (Keegan ' Bourboun Mother's Milk), but they were sold out. The guys were SO helpful that she ended up walking out with $110 in beer. Found my favorite beer that we can't get at home (Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager), Caribe, Sam's Winter Ale, some Cooperstown microbrews and Bourbon Street Imperial Stout. What a haul. I am writing this review to offset the malicious and inaccurate post I read about Beer World. I have lived in the area for over five years and have shopped there numerous times. The manager and staff could not be more helpful and knowledgeable about the hundreds and hundreds different products. They have always been polite and professional and I have never witnessed anything like the behavior this person alleges. He/She obviously has an ax to grind and Yelp should take down that post. read more

I am updating my review (8/10/14) of Beer World in Kingston because they now are providing restrooms for those of us who travel far to patronize this fantastic beer superstore! This store has the most remarkable selection of beers, from every corner of the earth. I'm a real beer snob and it's the best I have ever seen. I recently traveled to Belgium for the purpose of tasting BEER. I told my wife I was taking her for Belgium chocolates, but shhh... please don't throw me under the bus here. I indulged in many brewed delights. Even my wife, who is a wine drinker, enjoyed Kriek and other flavors that were available. After we got back we went to Beer World and they had almost every Belgium beer I had had on my trip! The same with Czech, German, French beers, etc. You name the country and Beer World has it well covered. They also have all the micro brews and craft beers you can think of. Great specials too. And now that there is a restroom available I may even try their growler tap-tasting without concern. So to all you beer snobs and others: Go to Beer World and go crazy! Earlier this year, I made the mistake of falling deeply in love with an Icelandic beer. The brewery, Einstok, is located in a fairly remote part of the country and serves as one of the most served brews throughout the island. Truthfully, I never thought that I would have the opportunity to drink it again after returning to the States. But then I discovered Beer World. Beer World is the ultimate destination for serious connoisseurs, beginners, brewers, and everyone in between. This store is massive and the selection can only be described as staggering. Beer World is well organized with clear divisions between domestic bottles, imports, affordable brews, and new releases. The shop's selection of New York State beer was super impressive, with beers originating from all corners of the state. I spent a full hour browsing the shelves and making note of what I still need to try (there is a lot). Just when I thought my tour had concluded, a set of automatic doors opened and revealed an enormous "Beer Cave," which was loaded with even more bottles and cans. There is also a section of the store for brewers, with a small cooler of different yeast strains, hops, and other brewing ingredients. I found the staff to be knowledgeable, approachable, and very helpful. When I asked about the Icelandic beer, the staff person replied, "Oh, you mean Einstok? That's right over here." I couldn't believe it. Not only did they have my coveted Icelandic beer, but three varieties of it. My experience at Beer World was nothing short of perfect. read more

I recently discovered Beer World and its a HUGE step up from the selection at the other non-specialty stores nearby. Choose your own adventure! Will you... This store has a wonderful selection of beer. However it is very poorly run. They are constantly understaffed, the workers all seem miserable, because they are all over worked, working 60 or more hrs a week. I see the same 5 employees every time I go. I recently stopped in to buy a 6 pk, and couldn't breath. They were burning incense to cover something up. The air was thick and pungent. I exited the store without making a purchase. read more

Honestly, forget about Half Time and come to Beer World! All the beers you can imagine, conveniently organized, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. A great perk is that they let you sample all of the greatest beers they have on tap and don't give you a tough time. They also have a "make your own six-pack" for only $11.99. What can I say? This place is beer heaven! Taps, imports, specialty beers, and run of the mill beers...Beer World seriously has everything. I live over the bridge in the Red Hook area and will make a special trip to Kingston just to visit this store and EVERY time I go in I leave smiling. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and easy-going. There is a no pressure atmosphere here, with the staff just genuinely excited about craft beers and easily available to help navigate you through their MASSIVE selection so you don't get overwhelmed. The selection of beer is AMAZING. However, there is beer that is well beyond its shelf life. There's a Great Lakes Christmas Ale that is still being sold (4/14) even though the "best by date" on the bottle/box was in early February... :/ I have to wonder how many other beers sold here are in a similar state. read more

I've actually been here more than once with my husband. It's quite sizable. There is an area for samples with a knowledgeable person running it. They have singles and packs. This is the largest beer store I've ever been to! The selection is huge including beer by country! They have an impressive gluten free and local beer selection. You can make your own 6-pack and they have drafts to fill growlers. Don't miss the huge walk in beer refrigerator in the back. That in and of itself is the size of competing beer stores. read more

We used Beer World as a supplier for our wedding in the Catskills. Branden at Beer World was extremely helpful and assisted in selecting the flavor profile for the event. They delivered the beer at the time it was scheduled and offered to drive the long hike back if we needed more. Nothing compares to Beer World in terms of selection. I've been to many first rate liquor stores, but this place is really in a class of its own. Super nice layout, so that even though you're browsing the virtual beer menu of the world, it never has that seedy warehouse feel. Very fair prices, especially considering that you need to turn lots of beer to be profitable when carrying this unbelievable selection. I came to this store last month to check out their selection, which I had heard was great. That part was true, but it was very expensive and a lot of the beer was old. Definitely beware of that. My main reason for this review, however, was the staff. From thr back of the store, I heard loud arguing from the front. From behind the shelves, I saw what appeared to be two hispanic staff members yelling at each other, cursing and carrying on, with one even accusing the other of being a drug addict! All this in front of several customers. I've never seen such appalling behavior in a place of business before in my life. It was so uncomfortable and awkward waiting around for them to stop so I could pay for my beer and get out of there. Needless to say, I won't be paying to cross the bridge again to buy my microbrews. read more

Stopped here about three months ago...did the "taste wall" and was impressed with the knowledge of "Brendan"...(my wife is spanish and i was shocked/pleased when he bought her into the conversation in her language. So recently this past weekend I visited beer world for the first time!! It had a great selection and very clean environment like too clean which is always a plus, the only things were the service is very poor I walked around trying to locate the beers I like for about 25 min until I stumbled along them.. A older gentleman came up to me after I located them like where were you 25 min ago? Ha thought that was funny.. Than I started to look around and kept finding a lot of EXPIRED beer which freaked me out.. And the expired beer was not even discounted it was full price !!!! I love the idea of Beer World and have bought beer there in the past. However I have gradually become annoyed then dissatisfied. Yes they have a great variety of beers. I wish they would consistently put prices on them, so when you are trying to decide ,you have an idea, especially when a 6 pack can cost 15 or 20 bucks. So that bugged me. Next I decide I can only buy beer that is priced. So I bring it up and it rings up wrong. Luckily I was on guard or I would have been overcharged. This happened several times and I let them know. By this point I'm not a fan anymore, but would still buy there if I need beer. So I walk in and see a big display of Harpoon at a great price and with a free glass. Sounds awesome. I get home, the beer tastes terrible. It's old and skunky. No wonder it was so cheap. The official boycott began that day. Maybe a year goes by and I'm in the neighborhood. I know they'll have an obscure beer I'm looking for so I hold my nose and head in. Yes! There it is. It's priced too! Not cheap, but I'm willing. I bring it up and guess what? It rings up correctly! Maybe they're not so bad. I head home crack one open and as I'm drinking it I look at the bottle. Best by three months ago! I paid $15 for 6 beers. I will continue to let people know my many bad experiences as a customer there. It's unfortunate. read more
