This was a great event! Holly Springs feels like it may as well be in Virginia but it's a fun day. I'm not a big beer fan so let's start with that - my husband is and was pleasantly surprised after having high expectations with World Beer Festival at the Durham Bulls stadium. The scene, music, and price was wayyyy better. We hit a beautiful sunset with some delicious food trucks and it was a big birthday win. I had a great time too, good mix of breweries and vendors selling things like shirts and "monkey butt" candles (that was legit the name of a sold out candle... intoxicated people are easily amused). Scored free tickets through yelp (thank you!!!). My husband and I attended this year for the first time and had such an awesome time. The selection is unreal. So many local breweries that we've been meaning to get to, all in one spot. Being in Sugg Park, there is tons of room so you don't feel crowded. The large selections helps with minimizing lines. The app was a nice way to track what we sampled. A large selection of food trucks, plus a few sampler booths (butchers market FTW!) provide a great selection of food as well. There were also lawn games and picnic tables for seating. The shade tents and complimentary water bottles were a great touch for keeping everyone cool and hydrated. Overall, we would definitely attend this beer festival again!! read more

I'm no beer FESTIVAL expert by any means, but I do love some craft beer (I have Untapped and use it religiously!) and am an uber planner/organizer. So when two things that I love come together: craft beer and great organization; then YES, I will be a super fan. Beericana has changed from last year to this year, and in good ways. They brought in a larger crowd but also rearranged the layout to make people comfortable. With a horseshoe layout, the beer vendors and food trucks wrapped all the way around the park with promotional business in the middle and and the stage closing the "beer gap." Although the line walking into the festival stretched ridiculously long when we arrived, it moved quickly and efficiently. The ONLY comment I'd make towards improving the event in the future is the parking situation. I personally didn't drive, but there was a big line of cars trying to get in and out of the park with no real parking guidance. People walking in car pathways and cars driving in people walking pathways... I think this could be improved in the future. Bathroom situation was fully operational and they kept the FREE water bottles stocked. Although there were a lot of people at the event, no one beer line ever seemed too long. Also, prepare to be wasted: these craft beer vendors are handing out some HIGH ABV brews! It was also tastebud tingling to see some pumpkin beers on draft (shout out to Big Boss and Double Barley). By far, my favorite vendors were Knee Deep Brewing with two different hop strands of Hoparillo and Carolina Brewing Companies Hop Roar. Loved seeing some new breweries too, like Broomtail Craft Brewery with their Smashing Grapefruit Imperial Pale [Ballast Point's got some competition!] and Fonta Flora Brewery with their Danktron 30-30. Plus, they event brings in tons of food trucks for the event, and the food truck lines are very reasonable as well. The only downside I truly see to Beericana for the "average" triangle resident, is the location. Fortunately, I have family living around the corner from Sugg Park, but you'll need to get a taxi if you're heading very far! Luckily, they have Taxi Taxi drivers waiting for you! Also, demographically, this is a very cookie-cutter crowd, but don't let that deter you from partaking in this awesome beer festival! read more

For a first time event, 919Beer knocked it out of the park! Pros: Location Amount of Breweries (it's clear NC is not just up-and-coming in the industry, but a big-time player) Layout Free Water Plenty of space to roam Beer! Seriously, other than the VIP tent, which rotated taps so frequently it was hard to keep up (and there was no real listing of who/what beer would be on tap, so you had to ask the pourers) and the music, which was hard to hear even though I was working one of the tents right in the middle, there were really no cons. The food truck lines got desperately long at one point, and some ran out of things I would have tried, but that's really on them over the event organizers. I loved the collaborations a couple of the trucks had with local breweries, too. I will say that from behind the scenes, the festival really took care of the brewers and staff as well. They made sure we had everything we needed to be at our best for 6 hours, and I am certain that this event will be back next year, and probably even bigger! read more

As a first time attendee, this festival was interesting but it didn't knock my socks off. I enjoyed sampling beer and cider from the many, many vendors who attended this event. But there were several people who appeared to be drunk and were stumbling around. They weren't belligerent, but I was wary of them. Also, holding this event during the hottest time of the day isn't really a good idea to me. If it were in the evening, I would have milled about a little more and probably gotten more samples to try. But I was hot so I knew I wasn't going to sample or drink as much. The vendors were very nice though and explained their beer or cider when asked. If this festival is ever held in the evening, I may consider attending again. Until then, nice job. read more

It was my first time going to Beericana and like I heard from lots of people, Beericana was an amazing festival! It took a while to get there because the festival was in Holly Spring, but Sugg Farm Park was HUGE. We did not have to wait to park & there were plenty of parking spaces! Also, there were many people at the gate, so there was no line! We just had to show our ID and got our little cute sample cups, maps and green band for entrance. As soon as we got in, we could see SO many local brewing companies. I had no idea we had that many brewing companies around here! Those brewing companies were lined up all the way through whole Sugg Farm Park and were very organized. Also, there were lots of food trucks, desserts, and cool music. They had Jenga and Corn holes everywhere and I saw many people playing those outdoor games. A lot of people were very good at playing corn holes and they looked so cool: I mean, they could throw! I was too embarrassed to participate because I suck at throwing those corn bags, but next year, I probably will! Many places had long lines, but it really did not take long. Their process was pretty quick, so if you want to try them out, don't hesitate! It's really not that bad, and it's worth waiting! Also, for those who want to try a lot of beer, but are worried about getting buzzed, there are tons of FREE water bottles everywhere! You can have those whenever you want, Beericana got you! I had many beer samples, but my favorites were watermelon taste beer, Hell yes mam from Raleigh Brewing Company, pumpkin taste beer and Cherry bomic! I was so sad that I could not get to taste Jalapeno beer! Seemed like everyone loved that beer!! Overall, it was an AWESOME event! It was my first time going to beer festival, and Beericana nailed it! For those who want to go to Beericana next year, here are some tips: - Try Jalapeno beer! Everyone LOVED that beer! - Make your own Pretzel necklace before you go there!! I thought that those pretzel necklaces were some kind of giveaway and it turned out people brought their own. You should look up online and make your own before you go to any kind of beer festival. People are SO smart and I loved their customized pretzel necklace! They were so cool! Bring them for sure! There are many food trucks and desserts but well, if you could save some money and bring your own customize pretzel necklace to show off, why not? Go for it! - Waiting line isn't that bad. It seems like it would take 10 years, but it would only take about 3-5 min! Try as many as you can! -Bring your own beach chairs!! The place was huge and so many people brought their own chairs. You can sit on the grass, but if you want to enjoy music, food and beer, bring your chair and sit back! -Wear comfy shoes! The Sugg Farm Park is whole grass area, so wear comfy flip flop or something like that! I had a lot of fun and I also checked-in at Yelp tent! They had many mystery presents and I got doggie bandana! I haven't been to a beer festival before, but I definitely enjoyed this one! The only thing I wasn't a fan of is that it's an outdoor venue so it's blazing hot, which when coupled with day drinking isn't the greatest combo...be careful and stay hydrated! Otherwise the beer selection here is massive! There was over 50 breweries there, each with about 2 - 3 beers to taste. You get a little tasting cup and there are several stations for you to rinse your glass out and pour your beer out as well. There is definitely beer here to suit everyone's tastes! Some of the beers are high ABVs too! I saw some in 8-10% range! Prepare to be drunk! Some of the beers do run out, so try to hit those up first and get there early if you can. There are food trucks to buy food from as well. Great food options, however I didn't see any ice cream trucks so I was really disappointed. I was so desperate for ice cream I had to buy ice cream from the Waffle food truck! Overall a fun event and a great way to try some beers! I found a new one that I loved and had never heard of: La Chouffe by Brasserie d'Achouffe, a Belgian beer. Simply put, Berricana was so much fun. The event is very well run; parking is handled by professionals, there's trash/recycling bins everywhere, plenty of porta-potties that were low on the ick factor and huge troughs full of bottled water packed in ice that were dispersed throughout the park (and which kept getting restocked). Sugg Farm Park is a wonderful spot and even with full on sun, there were ample shady spots to hang out in. Lots of people brought chairs and blankets, but there were also several picnic tables near the food trucks to hang out at. The beer line up was fantastic with too many breweries to mention by name. The tasting was done with a solid plastic glass (4 ounces?) that you were handed as you entered the park. Every brewery was well staffed and the lines moved quickly. Beericana has an app which we used for tasting notes. The food truck line up was impressive too. We tried Stuft, a gourmet baked potato truck. The folks sitting next to us loved Baguettaboutit. Near the end of the event the food trucks started running out of food and unfortunately that's when so many wanted something to eat. The only complaint is that the sound system was weak. We were sitting in the middle of the park and it was hard to hear the bands. Overall, we had a great time at Beericana. It is already on our calendar for next year, and we plan on getting a group of friends, creating pretzel necklaces and heading over! read more

Beericana was great. So much beer as well as some cider thrown in the mix. I am glad that I had the chance to experience this event. I kept my sampling to the amount that I know I can handle. My favorte among favorites was there to represent..Lone Rider..and they brought along Shotgun Betty. I could drink that every day (that is if I drank beer everyday). I tried out Du Claws Stout which tastes like Peanutbutter, named "Sweet Baby Jesus". There were lots of Food Trucks to choose from, Korean BBQ to arepas..even a couple of trucks with sweet treats from waffles to cupcakes. The bands were great.. stand out fir me was Dark Water Rising. The lead vocalist was phenomenal! The event was well organized with plenty of visible security..free water..and parking was fairly plentiful and easy. This was definitely an event that would consider attending again in the future. read more

Beericana 2016, you did it right! The beer line-up was on point with a wide variety of some of my NC Favorites and a laundry list of others I've never tried. My favorite beer was the "Bad Mother Pucker" from Appalachian Mountain Brewery which was a cucumber sour. It was light and refreshing which was much appreciated under the blistering heat! Lunch did not disappoint either! I had the smoked dry rub wings from CockADoodleMoo with homemade ranch. No hyperbole here, those wings were Finger Licking Good! Other than the heat I have no complaints! Can't wait until next year! read more

What an incredible beer festival! Why did I have to work this one instead of getting to enjoy it?! Tons and tons of breweries, and I love the fact that they focused on having NC breweries. The farm was an excellent space for this! They claim it is a music festival too, but this is a beer festival with background bands. The music definitely wasn't the focus. I'm not sure how much the VIP tickets cost, but it seemed like they were well worth it! There were multiple beers to be had 2 hours before anyone else even showed up. You could've had 2 hours of beer tasting and then left because you had all the booths to yourself basically. They had rare stuff too to try rather than just normal beers you got to drink sooner. What I love most about this festival is how they treat the breweries. My fiance and I have worked a lot of beer festivals, and they made us feel so welcome. From after parties, to hotel stay, to food, to our own bathrooms, serving beer here was a pleasure and they treated us so well. We have already put it in our calendar for next year! read more

My only tip: VIP is SO WORTH IT! No lines, early access to food trucks (I ate from about 6 food trucks) and a separate VIP area with its own bathrooms. Disclaimer: I get drunk off of a third of a beer so you probably don't want to take my advice re: beer samples... read more

I've gone to both the 1st and 2nd annual Beericana festivals and loved it both times! Tons of fantastic crafts beers to sample (as much as you like), even more food trucks this year, great music and great people who love craft beer. They provided complimentary water, tables, blankets (although we brought our own chairs), corn hole games, and plenty of restrooms. If you love craft beer, I highly recommend attending this event. We got the VIP passes this year and enjoyed going in early. read more

This is the best beer festival I've been to yet. Well organized from beginning to end! The crowd was happy, and friendly. The beer was amazing! Pumpkin and Marzen/Octoberfest beer lovers are in for a real treat. We purchased general admission tickets and I at no time regretted not buying VIP passes... no lines at restrooms and even when beer lines seemed long, I waited no longer than 3 minutes in any line throughout the day. Beericana is the best festival I've ever attended! I'm not a fan of big crowds (never been to the State Fair), but festival organizers have the perfect setup. For one, parking is free (and you can leave your car overnight without penalty if you over indulge). You pay for your ticket and then any food trucks you want to visit. Or you can bring a pretzel necklace from home to much on between pours). All the beer samples (2 oz pours) are included. The lines to enter were long but moved very quickly - they had plenty of staff to check our IDs and provide wrist bands, then we were in! The beer tents are set up in a huge circle, so you never feel crowded. Food trucks are all lined up in one area (finally got to try Cousins Lobster Roll - delicious!), and the port-a-potties were clean and plentiful - no lines there either. I know they can't control the weather but that was great as well. I can't wait to come back next year! read more

This is my third year going, but my first year paying full price. (No LivingSocial or Groupon's available). I will say I always turn my nose up at ticketing fees. An extra 15% that put the GA ticket price at $52... and I'm still debating if the price was worth it. I would probably value it closer to $40/45 out the door. The beer selection was great. Beers/breweries I've tried before as well as new ones I wasn't familiar with. It's always great to get a fun new selection and I took full advantage of the four hours that I had. The lines were reasonable so it wasn't difficult to keep liquid in the glass and get through most of the samplings. The food truck selection was probably even better than previous years - zero complaints there. Music was great. It would be nice if there were an option to buy a pint so you could sit down and chill for a bit while listening. IT WAS HOT. Yes, I know that tends to happen mid September in NC... And that might be OK if there was a little bit of shade available other than the strip of grass between the porta-potties and the back of the food trucks. Something that probably should be considered for future years. Yes, VIP had a tented area, which I didn't upgrade for, but looking at the huddled masses under a couple of tents I would probably take the toilet shade over that anyways.... Water was, however, made available and conveniently located in multiple locations - so extra points for that. I had a good time - but the ticket price (and more specifically, added fees) will drop it down a couple of priority spots on my annual to-do list read more
