I hired white knight to do some foundation work at my house. Concrete underpinning on a concrete…read moreslab foundation. They ripped up the old footing to do the underpinning and when they were redoing it they didn't put in any flashing between the new concrete curb and the wood framing of the house. The concrete they added was in direct contact with the wood framing. They tried to cover it up by putting ply wood up but luckily the drywall hadn't been installed yet inside so I had time to remove the plywood and check it out. You could literally see light coming through area they were working on, and water got in very easily. Also, the new curb didn't go up as high as the old curb did, so you could see the damaged stucco from where the old concrete footing curb used to be. Based on the work they did and since the inside of the unit was still exposed you could see water getting into the unit. I had to pay out of pocket to have the top of the concrete curb ripped out and redone by another company so that the unit is waterproof. On top of that, the concrete that they installed is already chipped and cracking, with holes, bumps and divets in it. And compared to other concrete done on the remodel is obviously poorer quality. On a second viewing the inspector called the foundation work "half assed." I wish he would have pointed it out the first time before I paid!

I was first referred to Preferred Builders by my tax preparer, Happily, my first repair/remodel turned out wonderfully so I immediately started a remodel on my own home. Scope of work: remove all the carpeting in the house and install laminate plank flooring in those areas. The travertine flooring in the entry, kitchen and hallway had large craters which collected dirt and water residue after washing. I had the floor steamed, the craters filled and the whole floor resealed. I had a gasline installed in the kitchen and a new gas oven installed. I also had a complete bathroom remodel which included removing a huge jacuzzi tub and installing an elegant and safe walk in shower. For the bathroom Nir listened to my concerns and needs and then gave me two 3-D renderings of my options. Elba was fabulous and fast with permits, a purchase list and provided weekly job schedules and updates. I have now completed this remodel and I can't be happier. My Preferred Builders team was pure gold! I highly recommend Nir, Elba and Orel, the Foreman.
