He knows how to deliver a fair bid but that's all the good I can say about my experience with Tree King. Dan was almost impossible to get a hold of. Finally he answered and set up a bid appointment which was a no call / no show. I followed up with more phone calls and he did show up to the second appointment at which point he told me approximately when the work would begin. That time passed, again with no communication, despite my efforts to contact him a few days in advance. After sometimes 10 phone calls a day and multiple voicemails over the span of weeks, he answered and acknowledged that he missed starting the work when he said he would. That was the last I heard from him. This all took place over roughly three months. Doesn't matter how many times you call, text, or leave a voicemail, the guy's communication skills are non-existent. And tree trimming skills aren't worth much without them. His excuse was that he's an owner-operator and his work prevents him from using the phone. I also own and self-operate a small business and often can't answer the phone but I never let anyone go without a response for more than a couple of days at the most. Even people I don't want to talk to get called back. Don't waste your time.

While I wasn't watching, they removed major healthy large limbs and stripped the tree of its leaves saying, "That's how photosynthesis works." No, it works via the leaves, as we all learned in 6th grade. We were shocked. Neighbors stopped by as they, too, were shocked. Our beautiful, healthy 40 foot tree died soon after. We agreed I would not pay him for killing our tree. I later read trees like this can increase home values by $10,000. To this day, I remain sickened by what happened and wish I would have sued for damages. We wanted twigs/thin dead branches removed in our back yard trees, too. This is a row of trees. Instead he cut them so each tree extended the same length into our yard - something I was not at all interested in. The owner, TJ was responsive and got his partner Tom over to access the situation despite the short notice and rainy weather. We agreed on price and they came the next day. However, the hill had been planted the week before trying to stabilize the incline. I notified the team of the plantings. When done, they said they were careful and didn't damage anything. My gardener accessed the area the next day, and they had damaged three of the recent dogwood plantings. Only one could be saved. When I notified Tom at the company he said there was nothing he would do to make it right. Not even an apology. Overall, they were responsive given the urgency of the situation, and I am pleased with the team of men that cut the tree out.
