They have an amazing program that really involves the entire family in many ways. It involves not only practicing the physical elements of karate, but many other aspects of a disciplined, fair, and altruistic lifestyle. By far the best aspect of any activity like this is always the people. The instructors are all top notch practitioners, but most of all, they care about the students and their families. Unlike many other sports and activities, karate is all year long. Because of that, the kids have had the opportunity to meet milestones and celebrate life events and holidays with their classmates and instructors. Instructors who range in age from assistants who are kids themselves, to black belt students, to adults. Having role models around her from peers, to outstanding teens, to caring adults has been extremely inspirational and aspirational for her to seek out responsibility and success in her own life. As the new home of the 14u Jacksonville Crusaders, this is one of the finest facilities I've seen. The fields are immaculate. The batting cages are lighted and in great condition. The concessions is clean and well stocked. Large, clean bathrooms are easily accessible. The park volunteers and grounds crew are top notch. I can't say enough great things about this park and am so happy that this is where my sons's team will be practicing and playing this season.

Tgere are opportunities for advanced play and all-stars even for the younger kids. A full snack bar and just a great group of people who make all the time spent at the park fun. There are a couple of coaches who care more about their team winning and building a 'stacked' team but that is not the norm and perhaps unavoidable in the sports world.

There's a good variety of Auto Belay Routes, ranging from Eezie-Peezie to 5.10 and a reasonable Bouldering area. They recently opened a new steep, tall route that's a 5.8 challenge, with an interesting chimney route on it's back corner. My one exception is there's really no "changing" area; and climbers' relatives tend to take up all the seating. Also, kids are scampering around the climbing area, necessitating you to look down before you belay down. But in terms of sheer fun in a super clean, diversified venue; this place simply can't be beaten.

I wasn't expecting much since given the area and was pleasantly surprised to see suggested exercises on the white board and lots of the same free weight equipment that I'm used too. This Y could use a face lift...getting rid of the carpet and installing a newer gym floor alone would do wonders as I can live with the equipment they have. I was hoping to discover some classes I could attend however their class schedule varied from the normal since it was the Holiday. I would have loved to get in there on Thanksgiving but they were closed. Knowing my home "Y" just had a large renovation I did not show up here with wild expectations however was bummed that there was no towel service. Whenever I'm in this area I will definitely go back. We don't have kids so I did not pay much attention to the grounds in that regard or other activities but the "Y" has a long standing seal of approval for these sorts of things. The "Y" in general is a great place for families to participate in and can benefit on all levels.
