If you're Jewish you'll be fine. The therapists are basically just used as spies to report to the staff about you, they break confidentiality like it's totally cool. I've seen them let people stay who have gotten high but kick out someone for the smallest infraction and the only difference was the one who stayed was jewish the other was not. read more

Donated large items to them from a house sale. The friendly crew arrived on time as well as kept us posted of their arrival time. We arranged in advance that some items might be suitable for the thrift shop and others would need to be junked/recycled - they picked-up both. Just let them know in advance what you have to donate or trash, and they will make it happen. We had donated books and other items to various local organizations during the move and none were as helpful as BTS.... read more

BTS is a great place to go if you can't afford a luxury malibu first class rehab. It teaches you a lot of values that the others don't. The best part is if you're serious about getting sober and staying sober they will give the clients the opportunities to become staff after going through the program. This can be a pro or a con depending on how well you're able to reframe and how bad you want your recovery. They offer a long term program but not everybody stays long term. read more

Before I came to Beit t'shuva, I was broken, spiritually empty, and felt like life for me was over. After all, I was getting older. and time was passing faster & faster. I felt worthless, ashamed, and guilty for continuing to make poor choices on a daily basis. I had no idea of what T'Shuva meant, and how greatly one word would soon impact my life. Immediately upon entering the doors of Beit T'Shuva, I was greeted with open arms by so many great people, who would soon become my new family. I, unlike many people here, am not jewish. However, I was determined to focus on the similarities, not so much the differences, and become a part of this wonderful recovery community. I quickly realized that although we all came from different backgrounds, religions, and had different addictions, we all were very much the same. We all were human beings, we all had been broken, and we all still had the capacity to love without restrictions. My new family and I grew close, and although I felt they may have needed me, I needed them much, much more. This is a very special and miraculous place. Beit TShicah saved my life and I learned how to be a human being there, instead of a convict. I was able to pursue an education and found a strength I didn't know I had and the will to change my life because I am a worthwhile human being. I had one relationship that was more like a hostage situation where I was threatened by my Partner that he would commit suicide if I left him. Then one day I could not feed into that bs anymore. I left him. That ran its course after three years . Then I found the love of my life, whom I have been with twelve years, and married 11. Because I have a problem with a Gambling addiction, my mom found Beit T'Shuvah for me. I was there for a year, learning to live well in community, finding some new spiritual pathways, working through my worst fears, and becoming free of my addiction by making positive choices for my own well-being, while in classes, personal and group therapy, authenticity learning experiences, family therapy, working the 12 steps of recovery, and doing fun activities together with other addicts. It is a very positive place! I am most grateful for 3 years and 7 months, and counting in recovery. Each day of freedom is a miracle. I had used their donation service a couple years ago and they were fantastic. I called and scheduled a pick up of my sofa and chair - sent pics, told them it needs to be cleaned, etc etc. Showed up and not only wouldn't take but wouldn't even help me get it moved to the recycling at the end of my alley. Offered $20 - nope. One would have taken to the bottom of the stairs for 20 haha - the place they would have moved it to any way - tried saying didn't want to get hurt - moving it where they would have any way??? Turned very rude. Now I am stuck dealing with other arrangements. Don't know if/when will ever donate to them again - not worth the attitude never mind any thing else - tried to do something nice for others and they couldn't reciprocate, esp in this climate, so... I was at Beit T'Shuvah once in '09 however back then I really wasn't ready to let go of my old thinking completely. I only lasted at Beit T'Shuvah 5 weeks and for good reasons I was asked to leave. 2017 I was actually given the opportunity to come back. ( I still can't believe it) today I have nearly 19 months sober I'm working a solid program I have accomplished so many of the goals I set for myself and it was all possible thanks to this amazing program!!! Because in 2009 the seed was planted, I could never enjoy my drink or drug since. Today I am proud to say that I am part of the solution and not the problem. I have struggled my entire life! I felt unworthy and had didn't know how to live. The program at BTS is like none other. If you are looking to change your life in every way and really discover your authentic self this the place to go. Rabbi and Harriot are a force to be reckoned with. I think Beit T' Shuvah is a wonderful place that saves many lives. My experience was a positive one overall. My only complaint would be about Dr. Stacy Cohen. She tends to have a problem establishing appropriate boundaries with clients. Im not quite sure if she understands the responsibility that comes with being a DR. I would never recommend any client to seek therapy or help from her. Other than Dr. stacy Cohen I think Beit T Shuvah is a wonderful place and would recommend it to anyoe. read more

This place saves lives and will help you no matter what. They don't turn anyone away due to a lack of funds. I found Beit Tschuvah 16 years ago. I was going through a tough divorce, the death of my parents and I believe G-d brought me here for a reason. Beit Tschuvah means house of return. I found family, love, Judaism, healing, community and Rabbi and Harriet, the gurus and leaders of Beit Tschuvahs band of cutthroats, thieves and villains. The music, the soul, the services, are amazing. They feed everyone after services. The services are in english with the prayers in Hebrew. They offer adult classes and I even got Bar Mitzvah at the age of 60. I love Beit Tschuvah. As a single man it was even harder to find a temple where I could fit in.You can join and pay whatever you can afford. Everyone is invited to do an alleya at the holidays. In Beit Tschuvah, everyone matters regardless of the size of your pocketbook. It is the size of your heart which matters (ok, a large pocketbook couldn't hurt either...lol).
