The Bekash Tandoori is a decent enough Indian in the middle of the town. Starters range from £2.69 to £6.99 and £5.69 to £12.95 for mains. I've had a couple of visits with mixed results. The first time I had Novorath (lamb marinated with spices, cooked with capsicum and onions) and asked for it Vindaloo hot and it was too spicy for me. The second time I had a Jalfrezi and asked for it Madras hot and it was too mild. There's no dedicated car parking, but there is usually enough parking on the street outside and there is a car park if you loop round behind the building which usually has plenty of space in the evenings. Perhaps I was unlucky on the inconsistent hotness front, but it was still tasty and good value: I will return. Update

Back again for another try. Popadums with onions and chutney were fairly good, the onions, lime chutney and mango chutney were very good, but the raita was very runny and another was rather odd: overly sweet with coconut and another very runny texture. We chose to share a mixed tandoor starter, but it was preceded by the main course! After pointing this out the mains returned to the kitchen and the starter arrived quickly and was tasty. The mains were disappointing: my madras hot curry was large and impressive, but had a disappointing amount of lamb and was medium, not hot. My friend's chicken Methi was very mild and didn't taste of much: we thought perhaps it was a miss-labelled chicken sagg (spinach) but the bill when it came said it was chicken Dopiaza! Either way it was bland and disappointing. A group on a nearby table had problems too, they complained that one of their dishes was cold and got it knocked off the bill. Overall the place is quite nice, and there are lots of staff, the pricing is reasonable value, BUT the food is at best patchy and the service poor. You can do better at several of the other local Indians, so perhaps try one of these.

Update
Another visit, and the starters were very good, but the main courses were not as complex as you would expect from a good curry house, and the service is still variable at best.
I'm upgrading to 3* based on the starters, but there are still much better Indian restaurants in the area. read more
