I'm one of those guys who walks into a barbershop and just says "uh, make it shorter?" when asked how I want my hair cut. Despite this, several different barbers at Bel-Red have all given me a cut that I was happy with. They all know what they are doing and take the time to give you a good haircut, unlike many other places in this price range. The interior is a quaint throwback to the time when the barbershop was a spot of socialization- be prepared to thaw out that Seattle Freeze if you subscribe to that sort of thing. It's unlikely but pleasant when it does happen. I've usually come between 3-7 on weekdays and I've never had to wait, even when it seemed busy. Top Notch. I am very picky about who cuts my hair and throughout my life would often go out of my way to have it done by the same person time and time again. The Bel-Red barbers is a place I landed in about ten years ago. I have never had a bad haircut there and the staff are never in a hurry. They run a professional shop and focus on the haircut the customer wants. They have approximately a dozen chairs which about half are usually staffed on a slow day. Therefore the turnaround for customers is very swift. All the barbers seemed decent to me. I used to fear changing to a different barber but after time I have experienced that they were all skilled and capable of doing a good job as long as you explain what you want done. Bel-Red barbers takes cash, debit and credit cards. In the past they used to have an ATM. The shop itself is clean, orderly and spacious. There are several televisions to watch while getting your haircut. I don't go to another barber shop unless I have to (out of town). The prices are good as if you go to a SuperCuts they will likely be more expensive, less skilled and have a crowded setting. Just tood my grandson in for a haircut; had a woman barber. Stated very specifically, that he was letting his hair grow, and only wanted around the ears and neck trimmed. Said it twice, she said ok; showed her an inch measurement, and she immediately shaved up the back of his head. I stopped her and said that wasn't what he wanted; her comment was that he needed a cut, in order for it to grow. My 11 year-old grandson and I are really, really upset!! I've been going to Bel-Red Barbers for about 7 or 8 years, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a simple buzz cut or scissor cut. If you want a stylist, go to a salon. If you want a barber, go to Bel-Red. During my first few visits, I took whichever barber was available, and they all did a pretty good job. Eventually, I chose Won (the owner) to cut my hair every time. She's super consistent, very friendly, and she always remembers how I like my hair cut. She's usually there on Saturdays, and I rarely have to wait more than 10 minutes for her. Prices are very reasonable, currently $17 for a men's haircut (plus $1 if paying by credit card). Inexpensive, local, and fast. That's all I ask from my barber. Since I only get a buzz cut I'll laugh at anyone that charges more than $15 or takes longer than 10 minutes. Bel Red can do more than just a buzz, but they're happy to have you if that's what you want. Also, there's about 8 barbers working at once so the wait tends to be short if there is any line at all. Nice workers, but unfortunately terrible cuts. Unless you want to look like a hairy potato, I don't recommend. Went in hoping to look better, and walked out with an asymmetrical hair-do. Basically a buzz-cut, but with a giant piece of hair at the top, one side of hair is curved, while the opposing side has much more hair. Asked for my bangs cut just right above my eyebrow, and ended up with my bangs cut 1 inch above them. Not to mention how the back layer of my head has lots of hair, and now the front has barely any. Imagine a somehow uneven buzz cut, but for no reason it cuts off, and not even in the middle a giant layer of hair with terrible bangs. Also, the workers seemed very distracted and rushed during the cut. My favorite hair style is the combover, but I can't do one anymore because the stylists doesn't know what "sides" are and cut all the way to the moon. (One last flaw: uneven bangs too, and when I say uneven I mean one side is 3 inches above my eyebrow while the other is only 1, so now I have to go to school for the next couple weeks looking like a bush). Although the workers were friendly, and I feel sorry for writing this, the quality of the cut is unforgivable. read more

This place is like an old fashioned barber shop that has been here since the 50's. We take our son here and I like it because there are no appointments necessary, prices are really reasonable, and you're done pretty quickly. The place gets packed at times, especially on a Saturday afternoon. They all seem to know what they are doing and our son always comes out looking great. I really like the fact that they have a wall that shows different "guy" haircuts and if you don't know how to describe what you want, you can just point to it. For anyone out there that's more metrosexual, this probably isn't the place for you. It's a basic haircutting place. I've never seen anyone highlighting hair or blow drying a guys hair except to get the hair off of their clothes. Doesn't mean they don't do it, I just haven't seen it. Great place for a quick and consistent hair cut. the quality is very high (4 out of 5 barbers are very good) vs your average supercuts (1 out of 5). Jay is a cut above the rest (pun intended). The guy with the slick back black hair is the one to avoid. He is lazy and left a long patch of hair in the back I couldn't see but others did. I noticed a barber shop as I drove by. Being new in town, I wasn't sure where decent barber shops are, I stopped in here. The moment I walked in, I was seated in a chair. The barber did a good job, wasn't too talkative like some barbers, but was cordial and courteous. I was amazed on the time spent on my short hair, making sure everything was perfect. Took me a while to find this place but I really like it. It's $18 for a cut and that's all I want. I used to go to Rudy's but Jeeze they're expensive and I walk out with nothing better when I used to go there. All of the staff at Bel-Red seems really nice. I have Jay cut my hair because he did it right the first time and has done it right every time since. The only problem, which isn't a problem really, is sometimes I have to wait. Up to 30 min. Seems Jay is popular with many people but while I'm sitting there waiting, there are other waiting for their favourite cutter as well. Highly recommended. read more

I've had my hair cut here a few times, but I'm never coming back. I've had approximately two decent haircuts here. The rest, the barber doesn't even listen to me. I specifically say I do not want to take too much length off, maybe 1/4 inch, and the last 3 times they've taken an inch and cut the sides way too close. During one haircut the barber stopped cutting my hair several times to talk to someone, then when I mentioned that I was in something of a rush she gave me attitude. Wonderful service. I took my son for a hair cut here at 9am on a Sunday morning. There were just 2 other customers, so we didnot have to wait. The lady who did the haircut was very patient and gave him a perfect cut. Very professional barbers here, they know their trade and almost everyone walks out of here extremely happy. Okay this place is such a joke, it's like a random gaggle of barbers all huddled around 1 actually good Barber Jay. So I go in trying to explain to them how I would like my hair to turn out, and the guy started spouting off different numbers of clippers that I wanted to use, I tried to explain to him "I don't just want you to shave my head, I would like..." But was cut off by him, as he explained to me that "It didn't need to be complicated unless I was complicated" so I took a look around and quickly realized this wasn't the kind of place that you come to to get style from, it's a cheap place to get your head shaved, and that much more. I would say it's probably good for little boys first day of school haircuts but as I was leaving one of the other barbers called me an ass#ole clearly from across the room so if there were any impressionable children within earshot well there that goes! Not to mention that takes forever when I have been there before. There's a supercut literally down the street, and bonus there's a Starbucks right around the corner within walking distance, much better choice, and for being called corporate drones, directly taught how to give a really stylish haircut, and they do women's hair and coloring, and they also have a lot of fairly priced hair products. read more

Very dissatisfied. Haircut prices are basically reasonable but the attention paid is lacking. Straight razor shave is *ridiculously* overpriced at $30. Barber trimmed my eyebrows using a comb as a guard and left a healthy bald spot at the arch of the left one. Maybe I just got the bad barber? Not willing to try again. I walked in and got seated right away, the barber (I don't remember his name) was friendly but not overly chatty. I've had some trouble at other places getting the person to give me a mens haircut (I'm FtM and usually read as female) but here I had no problems at all. When I was there I didn't notice anything wrong with the haircut (my mind was in other places at the time), but when I went to try and style my hair, it was impossible. Theoretical question: Is it gay to have a guy running his hands through your hair?? I've always had women cut my hair and I guess it has always weirded me out having a guy cutting my hair. About the place, it's basically a bar but instead of serving alcohol, they cut hair. Muplitple TV's, all but one of the barbers were men. And from looking at the other clientel, they do buzz cuts and thats about it. Price was reasonable, $15 and the place was well staffed, only minimal wait...Wasn't very happy with the hair cut and will continue my search to replace the stylist I had throughout college. read more

I'm visiting from out of town and badly needed a hair cut so I found Bel-Red Barbers on Yelp and gave it a try. It's easy to find and there was no wait when I went in as there were 6 barbers on duty. The Lady barber gave me a great haircut - just like I asked for and was very polite and professional. The air vacuums they use minimize irritating loose hairs. The rate was reasonable and I would highly recommend this shop and will go back there when I visit here again. read more

I was trying to send this to them directly, but it got bounced as spam. I'm giving up on your barber shop. I have not gotten what I've asked for, for the last three visits. I come in and ask for a flat top with about 3/8 inch in the middle, and a #1 on the sides, but 3 out of 4 visits, I didn't get it. The first time I came in I got a female Caucasian barber who did a great job. The second time, the male barber gave me 'tight' flattop that looked more like a #3 buzz cut on top. The next two times, including last night, the female barbers gave the right length in the middle but did not make it flat, but curved the cut over my head. Your web site says that you are good that this type of cut, but I don't thing so. So even though I would like to get the first barber again, I'm going to find an other shop. read more

Went here for another haircut on 3/25/16. A white lady was the person cutting my hair. After getting what seemed like a good haircut I requested a shampoo to which she responded, "I have an important dinner I'm going to so I can't do it." So I asked if one of the other barbers could and she said, "No they are all leaving soon too and there are other customers waiting" It was 6pm when she told me this and I happen to know that they don't close until 7pm. I understand there were a few (2 or 3) people waiting, but I was there before those people and don't believe that is any reason to cut another customers service short. I was very disappointed with this as I spent the rest of the day picking little bits of hair off my shirt. Had she told me she wasn't going to be able to the a shampoo before she started cutting my hair then I would have just gone somewhere else. Either way I will not be going back now nor will I recommend this place to anyone. I gave 2 stars because the haircut itself was decent, I just really don't appreciate having all that snipped hair left behind. read more

I'm a man and all I ever wanted was a simple crew cut. I could never get a fast, cheap, decent haircut at any supercuts or "salon" type place. At Bel-Red I just walk in, I tell them what size razor guards to use, I'm in and out in 15 minutes, cost is only $15. Definitely recommended. read more
