I saw their waxing equipment, and it didn't look professional or sterile (and it was possibly food service equipment they are using for waxing), so I would definitely stay away from that. The salon has been hot, crowded, and unpleasant every time I've been there. So why four stars? This is the only Indian eyebrow place I've been able to find, and they do a good enough job that I won't stop going there. It's cheap. It's conveniently located near the metro. Their hours are great. We never offered a magazine, nor a beverage, nor a warm welcome. Out of the two women at Mybar, the first and older woman quickly pretended we had booked express services instead of complete manicures and pedicures and complained non-stop to her colleague about her other colleague who was sick and had left them in the lurch. After 20 minutes, my friend was seated and her feet were place in almost-cold water which went on to become even colder by the time it was 18.57 and the younger mybar girl walked up from an eyebrow threading walk-in to announce she was ready to do the pedicure. When we told her it was outrageous and that we were leaving, she started to argue that it hadn't been that long instead of apologizing. My nail varnish session-by the older woman was rushed, uncomfortable, she tapped her fingers angrily when she wanted me to dry my nails in the UV machine and made passive-aggressive comments all the way through. When I said it was just a matter of calling us to either cancel the appointment or not taking more clients than they could handle, her only response was that they didn't have time to make the call. They did ironically have time to: - take 4 new walk-ins while we were seated. - She also had time to berate a client for using a plug to charge her phone, till the client, who had already been waiting for over half an hour left. - and time to make the other clients so uncomfortable that they simply exchanged miserable looks, stayed silent and left as soon as they could. - talk in Arabic to her colleague while her other customers talked in French. - pretend she did not understand when I translated from English to French for English-speaking clients who had arrived for appointments but who were told rudely to return or wait. They have an "only cash" handwritten sign, which required I borrow money of my friend to pay for my rushed, uncomfortable service. I feel cheated out of the money. Especially since each time a new walk-in would come in she would explain that my nails were a quick affair that only required ten minutes of her time. I am very sorry for both the employees if they were stressed at the amount of clients coming and going. I understand that they felt overwhelmed because they were short on staff. However, this should never be an excuse to mistreat clients so badly. On the contrary, we were in such a great mood and looking forward so much that we easily could have waited happily with good communication and good service! We did not have to pay the price for their bad moods. In a service industry having such awful service makes no sense at all! Are they closing soon? Only this would explain such lousy treatment. I am not sure at what point I would have been informed of this had I not called to make a minor change in the service (would I have shown up and been turned away?), why their website allows the booking of and pre-payment for appointments that are not available, and why the employee I spoke to had no idea how to fix the situation and needed to call the owner, leaving the situation completely unresolved. They had no idea how to refund my payment or use the Paypal system, and tried to get my bank account number rather than simply refunding the Paypal charge. This spa has no business accepting online payments if it does not keep track of the online booking system and thus cannot reliably provide the services for which it is being paid. UPDATE: Heard from no one all day after staff promised a refund "right away" and when I eventually called to check, they told me "call back tomorrow" as the manager was "too busy" to issue a refund via Paypal, a process that consists of clicking a button on the Paypal website. However, the manager was not "too busy" to send me an email right before I called, asking me why my Paypal payment was blocked when he tried to accept it (it was blocked because I'd opened a case after staff had told me they "didn't know how" to refund it). I then said that i will proceed to take legal action and to leave a negative comment in the social media, they reply saying it is ILLEGAL to blackmail them with leaving bad comments,... . NOW, i will contact the European consumer group for help, as i've also found out that they are many other woman in the same boat as I and will have to get a lawyer as well. Because all of this, I am very stressed. And with even more gray hairs...
