Understaffed badly Pricing - 4 reasonable fir the level of service you expect Product Variety - 4 good brand presence Belks has been a staple in my inventory of department stores to go to when I am looking for clothes, or mens' items going back into the 1970's. It is what i think of when I think of the department stores in the malls. A place where i could find employees to ask or help me when i needed such. Usually a class above stores like Kohl's and some others. But in this age is the idea of these stores still relevant? I believe so. I still have the same needs as I did when i have went to these stores before and I think they still serve an important function as a place to go for those needs they meet and have met so well in the past. However, as today I visited this store today, i still see the relevance, but I also see their failures starting to shine through. Lots of empty customer service podiums in departments devoid of helpful employees. Those few that do have employees are swamped with customers needing help. Having worked in the department store environment before, I can see where the ball is being dropped and why the company needs to more closely look at their priorities. Managers who manage and meet the needs. While I ultimately chose to leave without buying anything and going to one of their competitors, I still think Belks can turn this around if the re-focus on their customers. Make sure their stores are adequately staffed. Not everyone shops online. Would I recommend Belks? Absolutely. Just go during non busy times, because they can still offer that one thing price does not meet.. customer service. read more

Not the regular Belk's I shop at but excellent service and selection. We were in Winston/Salem and looking to pick up a few items. We were originally going to stop at Belk's in Northlake in Charlotte which is our normal Belk's but decided that since we were there, to go ahead and give the Belk's at Hanes Mall a try. We were not disappointed. Great Service, Excellent Selection and they were having the same sales as our regular store so sales must be across the Chain. Sales may be across the Chain but often Selection and Service are not. Glad to say that this is not the case. Got the same 2 for 1 selection of Shirts that I normally get in Charlotte. Not in Winston/Salem that often but if I need something from Belks, will definitely stop on by. read more

They really have to get back the sales people that used to take care of the men's suites area. It used to be a very nice experience but now it is very confusing and there is no one to ask a question to. Barely just one person take care of the cash register. Most of us men, don't even know what to tie goes with what suite... it is a sad place now. read more

Belk - Department Stores Near Me - Winston Salem, North Carolina

This store is not the same. Management is horrible. I heard a manager complain of how horrible their own Belk credit card is and why she would never have one again.  I also heard how workers talk about the store manager the way she's dresses so poor she almost shows her underwear. That She wears uggs with dresses and wears flip flops. Also there's a manger named Danny horrible person looks right away he doesn't wanna do his job. To top it off the manger down stairs also has a racist behavior he helped 2 white ladies with their rewards he honor every single one of them even though they were expire or already used but when I wanted him to honor my rewards he said no to me and I believe his name is Ken. I will no longer come into the store and will cancel my credit card and I will take my business to Dillards where they are very professional and well dressed. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a store like this one. It's so sad to hear how they treat their employees. I will not support this store anymore. I feel for the employees read more

I couldn't find where to rate the Belk online ordering so I am using my local Belk. I place a lot of online orders from Belk and I must say all of my experiences from speaking with customer services, to super fast shipping and excellent quality of products received is well worth a 5 star rating! I am never dissatisfied with any products I have ordered and their doorbusters and sales prices are super! Fan for life! read more

They have really spiffed up this place. It used to be a little bit run-down, but they've spruced it up and it looks fabulous. A few times, I seem to recall they had a young kid there playing the piano for tips which was interesting. I think that they would do better if they're shooting for Nordstrom's effect to actually hire a pianist. However, the prices are pretty reasonable and the new logo is growing on me, although it does remind me of the failed GAP logo. read more

I always shop for my Est'ee Lauder at the Belk Cosmetics counter. Robin Barnhill is my go to rep as she is always so helpful and she has a great eye for color. Wow! My husband & I were shopping for a pair of dress slacks but could not fine the style, color & size that he needed. Suddenly a Sales Representative by the name of Ernie Crawford took charge & found exactly what my husband wanted & even explained how some of the new styles fit differently than others. This mall is absolutely HUGE!!! I have been stalking these Vince Camuto boots that were $269 and now on sale for $70.00. As I starting driving from Raleigh to Winston Salem, I called to have them put them on hold. I got there in under 2 hours and my boots were waiting for me. The best road trip ever!!! I always recommend Belk for social event outfitting or just nice clothes in general. Last night, I was browsing through the Chanel make up section and asked the woman at the register to help me find my skin shade. She was incredibly nice and recommended multiple products to help me look my best, the only problem I had was the sanitation awareness. First off, she was counting money, so GERMS, second, I was never asked what type of skin I have or problem areas I wanted more attention to. She would put the make up on her fingertips and rub it into my skin. She asked if I wanted a full makeover and I said go for it, so she grabs a small concealer brush and applies foundation all my whole face. I think I was just so shocked I didn't say anything at the time, but thinking it over on the way back home, it was pretty disgusting. I will probably speak up the next time this happens, but hopefully it doesn't. read more

Stopped in the ladies shoe department to try on some Uggs. The representative by the name of Puneet was so rude. The purchase that I WAS considering was $275.00. Decided to go to Dillard's instead. Belk's customer service stinks! I walk in with my fiancé, his daughter and her friend. We chose to patronize Belk's for my soon to be step daughter to be measured for her first bra. We get to the intimates section, and we see an older lady assisting another customer. We wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, oh and wait some more. So my fiancé stays on the line, as we are next, but my stepdaughter and I decided to go perusing through the racks of bra's and try to "guess" her size. We got through trying on 4 bra's, and all of a sudden I hear my fiancé asking the cashier why has she allowed someone else to skip him on the line? So I come out of the dressing room, and see him (the only guy) surrounded by the cashier and two other white women. Of course I quickly went to the counter to see what the hell was going on. The two women who were previously in the dressing room were talking about how rude my man was for raising his voice to this older cashier, after he had stood there for a good 20 minutes waiting on her to help him, and then taking another customer that was behind him! So, I tell them to mind their business, because we were there first, and the cashier should not have done that without some type of explanation. Security comes out, and tells us that we have to quiet down or leave. He didn't curse, and wasn't screaming to the top of his lungs, but yes he did raise his voice a bit, because he'd stood there and was polite enough to let this slow woman help a couple of people before him, and she never helped him when she said she would. I will NEVER, EVER step foot in Belk's again. If you are manning a register solo, I understand if the wait is long, but don't allow other customers to skip people when they've been waiting for damn near 25 minutes to simply do something that would have taken 2 minutes to do. read more

Belk's has some good people, BUT------ I will never be able to understand the special attitude that some people have. I had a pretty bad situation with a rep in the Men's Dept. The Professional as he called himself. I have eliminated my description about the problem I had there. The regional manager contacted me offering to take care of everything. Left a package at men's shoes. Tried to call yo verify if they have it and was put in hold...I should say the phone was laid down on the counter so I could hear their entire conversation with a customer at the register. They then hung-up on me. I called back, the phone was immediately disconnected. I called store management....the person tries to connect me to men's shoes and can't. She wanted to try again and I said absolutely not. Left my number to have them call me. I don't expect anything to happen. Very, very poor service and very disappointed with Belk's. read more

I love(d) Belk. As I am sitting here writing this review I am wearing $800 worth of Belk merchandise... That being said I am incredibly disappointed with the poor customer service I received in the ladies shoe department today. I purchased a pair of $400 Frye boots last November at Belk and after 3 months of wearing the boots the rubber part of one of the boots came off and caused the wooden heel to split. I attempted to exchange them today after being told to "just bring them in and talk to Gayle (the manager) and it shouldn't be a problem" from a salesperson via telephone. When I got to the cash wrap the woman working behind it finished checking out a customer and when she finished quickly walked away while I was standing there only to come back a few minutes later and say "someone will be right with you" and roll her eyes. I waited another 5 minutes and she was that someone. I explained what happened with my boots and what I was told over the phone and she began to interrupt me saying that it was past 180 days and I didn't have a receipt to which I replied that I realized it was past the allotted time for returns but I wasn't wanting to return an item I was unhappy with instead, I was simply trying to exchange an item due to manufacturers defect. I requested to speak to a manager and instead the woman went and got a male co-worker who described himself as a "shoe specialist" (a glorified salesperson) and told me that regardless of a manufacturers defect that because it had been past 180 days he couldn't exchange the shoes. I once again nicely requested to speak to a manager so the male salesperson called a manager "Tim" who asked the salesperson a series of questions over the phone only to show up and look at me while I was talking with the salesperson and walk away. I ultimately was told that manufacturers defects don't matter after 180 days and that they refused to do the exchange. I was also told to contact Frye which I did immediately after leaving Belk and I was told by the Frye company that without a receipt (who keeps their receipts for a year?) I would need to contact Belk. Absolutely pathetic customer service I will NEVER buy Frye boots from this store again. Nordstrom (who has great customer service) will be receiving my money from now on. read more
