Hanes Mall has certainly fallen from grace. I remember the yester-years when Hanes Mall was clean and had lots of great shops. I used to work at one of the high-end jewelry shops. Hanes Mall is "tired" and in dire need of a face lift. The escalator needs a deep clean! I suspect Hanes Mall is a victim of the shift in how people shop and retail stores are struggling. Modern mall that was quite busy. On two levels, the place was quite full and about half of the shoppers had made a purchase. Unusual in 2024! Lots of security and lots of teens. All of them roaming about peaceably. Escalators and elevators all working fine today. We were able to grab a good parking space and did some wandering. Variety of stores, but it's slowly depleting. The bathrooms are hit or miss on being clean and sometimes every stall in the main bathrooms are so dirty you can't use them. Dave and busters and Truliant take up a large portion of the mall in what used to be Macys, drs office in the end that used to be sears, and Dave and busters is where Spencer's and several other stores used to be. Still quite a few stores, but the only big stores left are JC penny, Dillards, and Belk. The food court had limited, but decent options to choose from, but do not plan to try to hurry through lunch because it's almost guaranteed to be a long wait. I also noticed that there are several more small non chain stores in there now than there used to be with gimmicky types of novelty items. Overall, it's a fairly typical small town mall experience. I just hope they don't continue closing down other stores to put banks, drs offices, and things like that in their place! read more

Nice Mall but parking can be a bear Good selection of stores. Most of the larger malls have around 200 to 210 stores while this one has over 250. Very few vacancies and good selection. Most of the majors are represented with Macy's, Dillards, Belks etc and a good number of smaller national retailers. Was there last weekend and the only complaint was the parking and the distance you had to walk. All in all, everything else was great and would recommend to anyone, particularly if you are looking for some walking excecize . read more

Pac Sun Employees tonight were the rudest girls in the mall. It was 58 minutes until closing and they were literally doing nothing. There were 3 people in the store wanting to try on multiple outfits and they refused to open fitting rooms. Avoid the 2 dark haired bitches with lazy attitudes. PAC Sun just know you lost out on 3 large sales because of there laziness. Selection of brandy Melville for the value is on point. read more

Great mall! Lots of shops! If you're looking for some wedding, quincena, homecoming, or prom dresses there's many stores for that. There is also is wide food court with many options ranging from Chick-fil-A, to Italian, to Thai, to sandwich bistros. read more

Poorly managed and chaotic. Also the hours posted online are incorrect. Generally feels unsafe and messy at any given time of the day.

This mall dates back almost 50 years! At one time it was the largest mall in the entire Southeast U.S. no idea where it ranks with that now, although it's still incredibly large, but that's incredible with the fact that malls are ghost towns in the matter of a few years of being built nowadays. Though I don't go to malls much anymore, it is weird to see how this concept seems outdated today with the proliferation of technology. Also, it seems as though we're slowly going back to strip malls again which seemed to be replaced by the big malls years ago! read more

They don't care about themselves and other shoppers or the businesses they choose to shop at. Businesses are closing permanently all over and they don't think they are the problem. I am a fan of Hanes Mall! Although if you are just going for one specific store I recommend looking it up on their online directory before parking. If it ends up being on the other side of the mall from where you parked, you are in for quite the walk. If you are new to the mall you may think it ends with JC Penny on one side but it does in fact not, you have to walk through JC Penny to get to the other side of the mall. I've never seen this before and I'm sure JC Penny loves all those walk through were people end up buying something there! My favorite is probably the H&M store, it is two floors has woman's, kid's, and men's. They have pretty much every store you would expected to need, it could use an Apple Store though. There is a USPS here as well, so you can ship a package right before you shop! read more

This is a place that holds memories for me. I actually remember it having only one section & not having the area with the food court, Dillard's and so forth. The "new section" (as we called it) wasn't there until I was a teenager, hence the fact you have to walk through JcPenney to get to it. This is the biggest mall in Winston Salem as well as the hangout for teenagers (which is apparently still the case now). When I was a teenager, I and other people I knew worked in many of these stores. I also worked at the Godiva one summer when I was in college. Over the years, it feels like this mall has become more sparse than it used to be. Many stores have moved or closed down and it feels like there's been an attempt to make this mall more upscale with the addition of a Guess store and (as I discovered yesterday) a Coach store. If you live around here & don't want to run into anyone you know, do NOT go here. Go to Greensboro or High Point if you want anonymity. Some of the stores are okay (I would have liked to go to delia's yesterday); just look for the sales, be careful in parking and watch out for the people in the kiosks trying to bug you. read more

This really is a nice mall! Sooooo much bigger than the ones I'm used to in Rochester, NY. Love having 2 floors!! We weren't used to having carpet in a mall either but it made it more comfortable to walk around. Saw plenty of police officers around the mall. Cracking down on youngsters loitering around I guess. My husband and I agree that it's kind of weird that you have to go through JCP to get to the other side of the mall. If you didn't know, you might think the mall ended there. There are tons of stores and I agree with another Yelper, many of them are geared at "teeny boppers." And there seemed to be a ton of shoe stores too. Gone are the days when I pay $150 for a pair of sneakers. Another thing I noticed were a few places (kiosks) to whiten your teeth... At the mall. Do people really do this??? As a dental hygienist, I guess I am a little weary about having some random person whiten my teeth in the middle of the mall. The food court/venders looked decent. A few venders stood out as we walked the mall, my nose leading the way. Cinnabun and Auntie Ann's always smell so AMAZING! We didn't get any but man, those places make my mouth water!! We stopped at Time Warner Cable to get our internet service started as well as Best Buy Mobile to return a charger. It was pretty convenient to not have to make multiple stops after our mall excursion. Even though we aren't really big "mall goers" we liked walking around the mall so much, we might make it a weekly or bi-weekly event!!! Good times! read more

The only mall in our vicinity and it is well kept. There are not enough places other than teen stores and a gamestop. Wish the place had more variety in it, the RC Store is nice, but lacks as a good hobby store. It is conveniently located across the street from a strip mall, so there is that. They put on a lot of events below the food court, which is really cool, just wish they had a good events calendar inside as I just happened to be in the mall when a few took place. read more

Great Mall, I love going to this mall, I drive about 45 minutes to shop at this mall, it's well worth it! I love to shop at the stores that only this mall has! I live in another town that doesn't have the stores that are available in my town and offer items that I can't find in my town and I don't want to order online, I like to see what I'm buying and I also like to try on clothes that I buy. I love to shop at J.C. Penny for Clothes and I usually get good deals on clothes there and their clothes are very good quality and not that expensive, I also love being able to walk the mall and get extra exercise and spend time socializing with people. I highly recommend this mall! I like the parking too, I noticed some people did have issues with parking, but I don't find any issues with parking. read more

I have to say this is one of the most oddly designed malls I have ever seen. In order to cross over from one section to another, you have to walk through the JC Penny anchor. While other malls sit vacant, this one looks to have encountered a period of wild expansion, and the storefronts here are mostly occupied with a great mix of local tennants, mainline staples, and a few high-end retailers. I was able to visit two never before experienced anchors: Belk and Dillards. I did find Dillard's to be mildly superior, and they were having a giant shoe sale, as an added bonus. The food court is huge, with something for everyone. There is a Starbucks, but for a caffine/tea fix, check out Tina Marie's coffee shop to support a local trade! read more

Husband and I love our local mall. It is huge and has most stores you need. Best customer friendly staff in most shops, and also places to eat, coffee options, places to sit, massage chairs, arcade. We also love it when the Halloween store pops up in October, with so much to offer. In addition the nail bars are also great. Always a good idea to head to Hanes Mall. read more

Ok so this mall is convenient because it is super close to me and it is the only mall in WS. That is the pro. The cons are...this mall is one of the most poorly planned malls ever! You have to walk through the J.C. Penney to get to the other side of the mall, the food court is limited, there are a TON of empty spaces and for the only mall around, it's pretty dead. Maybe because there are two sides?! Also, the Sephora is in J.C. Penney? MEANEST SEPHORA WORKERS ever...don't go in there! Whoa, attitude! Although it has stores most malls have and maybe more, it's definitely not the fanciest or nicest malls I've ever been to. I am used to vendors calling out to me to try their flat iron or their lotion or whatever but do you have to follow me...seriously!? I've seriously just memorized the map of places just so I can walk around or drive to the correct side of the mall. I've lived in so many places and I LOVE malls...I pick my apartments based on how close they are to malls...this one is definitely in the bottom 5. I'm sad to rate it a 2 because I feel like such a jerk, but I've been to this mall 15 times in 3 months and every time is so disappointing. :( I will drive to Tanger Outlet 40 Minutes Away or Friendly Center in GSO 20 Minutes Away... *tear, tear* read more

At one time this mall was one of the largest and nicest malls in the southeastern U.S. Now, stories continue to emerge about stores' employees being threatened by shoplifters, customers being assaulted in the mall parking lot, etc. (see WXII News). Unfortunately Hanes Mall doesn't have to look far (Four Seasons Mall in Greensboro) to see where it's headed if significant security measures aren't put into effect soon...and beyond just the holiday shopping seasons. The safety concerns are visibly affecting the morale of mall and store employees which in turn has customers choosing to avoid the mall altogether and shop at other shopping centers and online. I could give specific examples employees have shared with me firsthand but they fear retaliation from their employers over negative PR so they cannot afford to go public. In closing, the mall's facilities show growing signs of deferred maintenance especially in the atriums, restrooms, and mall exterior. I hope that Mall management and their employer (CBL?) wake up before it's too late and they suffer the same fate as Four Seasons Mall. read more

This is a very nice mall. Lots of stores, shops and eateries as well as a beautiful carousel, ride on train and play areas for the kids. Yes, the layout is odd (you must walk straight through JC Penny in order to access the other side of the mall) but it's not inconvenient or anything. Food court is half the size of the malls I'm used to in NJ but the variety is great and the area was clean and well taken care of. I just don't like how the Chinese, Japanese and Thai inspired restaurants are extremely pushy with their samples while attempting to lure you to purchase their meals. The play area for the kids is very nice with bench seating for parents as well as small tables & chairs on the outskirts of the area. My kids had a blast playing. The tea shop (Teavana) was a very nice shop to explore; we picked up some berry herbal tea to brew at home. I had a great experience at Victoria Secret and Aeropostale also. We'll definitely return to this mall to spend rainy days for some shopping, lunch and fun for my kids. read more

This place is HUGE.... so huge in fact you better park your car in the section of the parking lot that is close to the store you want to shop at or you might die from walking to it. This mall is so huge they had to separate it into 2 huge complex sections that take time to walk to if you transfer between them by foot You would also think that within the Hanes mall that there would be a "Hanes store" ... but i guess not. A great mall with an amazing selection! There are stores, restaurants, and activities here for everyone. My favorites are Belk, Williams Sonoma, Banana Republic, Pottery Barn, Dillards, and Sephora. There are also great venues for kids like Dave and Busters and the Carousel. I'm sad to see that they lost two anchor stores (Sears and JCPenney), but I hope they fill them up soon with a tenant. There are also some great stand alone restaurants and shops outside the mall. It's in a convenient location. The mall is kept clean, and everyone who works there seems friendly and courteous. read more

Not really a fan of the mall - but if I had to go to one in the area I'd pick Hanes over Four Seasons Mall (Greensboro). The parking lots it pretty self explanatory - not rocket science - however other drivers appear to make it more complicated than it is. Just follow the signs and you'll be alright. Note to other drivers: no need to break/stop if there is no stop sign - this is not a chemistry test people. Word of the wise - people use their break more than their gas. Oh and another thing - arrows painted on the pavement have a meaning and so do the parking lines and the "do not park - fire lane". Just gonna let than sink in for a bit. Plenty of decent stores and all. So if your a mall person - this is where you belong. There's a good amount of security so if you get in a pickle - help won't/shouldn't be too far away. I Definitely avoid this area from Thanksgiving Day until after New Years. Not worth the stress. read more

Never ever ever go to Hanes mall. If you like smelly elevators, rude security guards and terrible policies, then this is the mall for you and disregard this review. If you don't like these things please stay tuned! So we get there and for whatever reason, multiple elevators smelled very bad. Now to the polices. Apparently there's a policy that everyone under 18 has to be accompanied by guardian over the age of 21. When we got asked to leave (it was a 19 year old and two 16 year olds) I said, "But 19 is and adult" the rude mall cop said "not at this mall it isn't". Infuriated by their snarky rude remarks I said "Simon Malls doesn't have this policy" and they just ignored. But during this encounter they asked where were getting picked up and I said "actually we have a car" and they said we need a CHAPERONE to take us out of the mall. I vow to this day to never spend one cent in this mall ever again and I will recommend everybody I know not to go here. The American mall is dying because of online shopping like amazon, and they obviously aren't worried about the failure induced future of this mall because they are kicking the children of people who actually shopped in physical stores out. I'll laugh when I see them waving their white flag of defeat and failure. PS the rude mall cops were two men and a woman standing at the bottom of the escalator near the entrance to Dillard's. read more

My Trailer and Motorcycle got stolen out of the parking lot. The thieves broke the locks of my trailer to steal it. I was parked about half way up the lot in the section at the front door. It was even 3pm on a busy sunday Mall security couldn't show the cop the security tape because the head guy wasn't there. And the next day he wouldn't show it to me because i not a cop. Hanes Mall is an interesting place. The layout is like nothing I've ever seen. One part of the mall is located on one side of the JC Penney, while the other part is one the other side. The carousel and train are nice ways to make the kiddos happy, while parents shop. While they have a lot of options for stores and food, I tend to avoid shopping at the mall like the plague. If you must go to the mall, though, the Hanes Mall is the best option in the Triad. read more

Came here for the first time during the holidays. I got here pretty early. Parking was pretty simple , but I would suggest the ground signs should be labeled more clearly to decipher the one lanes. I headed into Belk. Customer service in this Southern style was one of the best I have experienced. Immediately you walked in the associates gave terrific directions. Starbucks is right outside the Belk and I thought during the holiday time there should be more baristas or better experienced ones to ensure better expedition. I did enjoy the convenience of seeing Santa on the first floor. The mall has a good organization when it comes to events in the food court and other sections of the mall. Probably this 3 star is based on the experience on exiting the mall. Traffic was horrendous getting onto 40 east. I think the mall needs to be better equipped with traffic flow during this time of year- holiday season read more
