I have had Mrs. Flynn, Mrs.Curry and Pugh, Mrs. Frangimore, Mrs. Phillips, Miss Moore, and Mr. Thomas as my teachers. They are all great teachers and all really push you to succeed while making every day fun. Hopkinson has many different programs. Their are many optional and mandatory ones. They have a mandatory Music Class run by Mrs. McEldery, a mandatory Library/Computer Lab Class run by Ms. Blake, and a amazing after school daycare program run by Mrs. Nicole. There are also many choices of optional after and/or before school classes like chess, choir, art, and more. Over all, Hopkinson is the place to be.

I remember always running to the handball court or the teatherball court. There was lots of events they would have for the students. Lots of festivals and fundraisers. The teachers were alright. They were like any other elementary teachers. But I do remember one teacher asked me why I was "so angry at the world" when I was only like 12? the 6th grade camp was hell for me. I'm sure it was fun for everybody else but I was miserable the classrooms were always so cold man. The lunch was amazing. I remember fucking that shit up. I have played badminton here a few times and there are a range of different players from beginner to strong players and everyone is very friendly. The only thing that is unfortunate is that you need to be a resident to play badminton or basketball so it is difficult to invite my friends that are non residents. My kids are truly thriving and actually look forward to going to school every day. The teachers are incredible and genuinely care about the students. You can tell they put in so much effort, and it shows. The support system here is also something special. Everyone is so involved and welcoming, which makes a huge difference as a parent. The principal and all the staff are just amazing. The school feels very well rounded, organized, and positive. It really feels like a community, not just a school.

After covid and homeschooling my kids were shocked from being home to now going back to school and socializing. My eldest son had to slowly learn how to make friends again and at the end of the year I am so glad to see him happy and glow again. My youngest son was at a daycare prior, so he was scared to even enter kindergarten after not going to school during the pandemic. My son had Miss Kvale, and he always came home with more content such as reading and doing math in his head such as addition. I felt like he was ahead of the game and I appreciate both the teachers my sons had. He always came home better then the last day, and I love the fact that the parents are able to keep in contact with the teachers if any parents had concerns. The principal is very friendly and open and is willing to answer any questions without any attitude unlike any other principal I've experienced when asking questions concerning your child. The only reason why I gave it four Stars was due to the bullying and missed report by a recess supervisor... when the incident was reported by my own son I brought it to the principal's attention in which the issue was fixed immediately. Another issue is mainly due to the driving of the parents picking up their children and acting crazy... I literally had to call police once far from the school after them cutting me off and following me around my home to scare me. Other than that the school is good in my book and my boys will continue to go to school here for another few years. Not all parents are crazy and I've met a few parents here who are pretty cool. We also have exchanged phone numbers for play dates.

Sometimes I did do wrong things but it was rarely in occasion not frequently. But i wasn't like happy during 4-6th grade as i had poor social skils and low self-esteem. Also, some of my friends backstabbed me and my friend group and one of them, I'm not gonna say any names, but he got me in trouble, and I was set up, and I was frustrated bout it and most of the time i got peer-pressured.

A child who is advanced deserves to be taught, stretched, and supported at their own level, not turned into an extra classroom helper. I was also disappointed by the communication. Too often, concerns were brought up in a way that felt one-sided, and it became hard to trust that situations were being handled fairly and objectively. As a parent, once trust in the communication starts breaking down, the whole school experience feels different. I have also noticed the school community feels very different than it did before. Public enrollment dropped from 700 students in 2023-24 to 662 students in 2024-25, and you can feel that change in the school's energy and parent involvement. The school fair felt much emptier than in previous years, and the overall atmosphere no longer feels like the same strong community it once did. The school may work for some families, but it was not the right environment for my child. I want my child in a place where she is both supported and challenged, where concerns are handled fairly, and where strong students are allowed to grow instead of being held back. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.

Whereas my wife and I planned accordingly and moved from Huntington Beach back in 2010, to right across the street from Landell. And we have to pay 11K property tax annually to have our son be in this environment - but I'm sure this is synonymous with how competitive parents are these days.
