Don't spend your money here. Great selection but the owner is rude and dishonest. I've been shopping here for a while and have bought quite a bit of expensive bourbon and whiskeys from him. He's very very pushy and constantly trying the sell anything you look at. Problem is he doesn't drink any of it and doesn't really know anything about the whiskey. Anytime I ask a question he just tries to get me to.buy something. Today I mad the mistake of pointing out that he's sitting on a lot of overpriced stuff that's been collecting dust for years and maybe he might want to drop the price. Typically owners will chat honestly with you and many will negotiate. He insisted I was WRONG ABOUT MSRP ON A VERY WELL known bourbon. He said his cost was way above my quoted MSRP and he'd show me the invoice to prove it. I laughed and said go ahead and he got very angry and started yelling at me. I told him if he's paying higher than published MSRP he needs a new distributor. I tried the calm him down and say look I wasn't trying to start a fight here and he continues to tell about how his distributor takes advantage of him. I agreed with him that I know they put quotas for purchases where you must buy X amount of lower quality whiskey to be able.to buy some of the top shelf stuff but the bottom shelf stuff still sells (people are gonna buy the fireball and the jack). At this point he yells at me to leave his store. Wow---iI've shopped here for a while and spent a lot of money. To tell and scream and kick a customer out because he had the temerity to point out there might be room in your price (he's got it priced at 100% markup). Is not good business. He doesn't know the product he's selling and he lies to his customers and is rude. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

The shopkeeper was really friendly and helped me find my ingredients to make Alabama Slammer cocktails. Place is a bit hard to find your first time as they're kind of nestled behind a hotel, but they seem to have a pretty decent selection of beverages (notably an interesting selection of whiskey I noticed), and another plus is that they are open a lot later than other liquor outlets in this part of the east bay. read more

I am very happy with this store, its great when you are having a party and need some incidentals and the price of beer and wine is more competitive than others in the vicinity. I always walk pass this store to go to work and I never really go in because when I did the ladies were nice but the items were very over priced . I came in today and a man was there he greeted me very nice at first , so I get an Arizona and beef jerky the only cheap things there and he looks at me crazy like I stole something ,when I come to the cash wrap, I asked do you guys have the 50cents each seeds and he's like how would I live off that shit?!! What the hell ? No . So I'm like ha okay I guess . So I ask for the jerky how much is it? He says 25 cents I said ok I'm a get 2 gave him 50 cents . He yells and says HEEEEEYYYY!!!!!! Don't grab 2 it's 35 cents. I said well you said it was 25 cents he said no 35 cents so I took the extra change I gave him and left . I will never come back. You shouldn't either . read more

So, Let me start by saying that until today, I shopped here fairly regularly for scratchers and things. Not the cheapest place, but I preferred it to 7-11. I would rather help out local places. Today, I decided to splurge and get a nice bottle of wine and $40 worth of Powerball tickets (fingers crossed!) Before I paid I asked the woman behind the counter if I could pay with debit. She told me that I could, but I would be charged an additional $1.00 for a convenience fee. Now, I happen to know from research that my husband did as an auditor that this is illegal. But whatever. It's only a dollar, right? WRONG. After she started ringing me up, she added a $2.00 CRV (for ONE bottle of wine. THEN, she added another two dollars as the convenience charge, "wait, WHAT?" says I. She then told me that because my purchase was over $40 she was going to charge me an extra $1.00. I would have cancelled, but she had already printed up the tickets so I was stuck. I told her that it is illegal to charge a premium for customers paying with card, that instead she was only allowed to incentivize other options by adding a discount (that is why you pay less for cash when buying gas, typically). She then told me that her son was her Auditor and he would have told her if that was the case. (Which is also super illegal, btw.) So anyway, unless you want to get charge for breathing the air in there, I would avoid this place, and will from now on. read more
