I decided to move away from my traditional style and have a watercolor done. The people here were all very kind and helpful as they discussed designs, placement and size with me. The artist recommended was Lindsay, and she was a pleasure to work with. She listened to my vision and took the samples that I printed out. When I came back for my tattoo, she had created a design that accurately incorporated all the elements that I wanted. We then found the perfect placement and she set straight to work. Within two hours I had my new tattoo. She walked through the care as she applied a special film to speed up the healing process. Love that stuff! read more

I wanted to do something special for Mother's Day with my mom before I move cross country this summer. Ben was able to squeeze us in the day before Mother's Day to do these. This was my first tattoo and it was such an amazing experience. Everyone we met at the shop was super friendly and made me feel at ease (my mom is a seasoned pro, so she was cool as a cucumber lol). The shop is super clean as well and has the best vibe. Now for the tat: Ben is an amazing artist. I told him what I wanted and when he showed me the sketch, it was exactly how I saw it in my mind. He also made me feel totally comfortable before, during, and after. I love my new tattoo and am so happy that they were able to make this vision a reality. My daughter came here on a trip from Los Angeles to get a piercing. It was two on her lower earlobe. The piercer was Daniel. About two days later the piercing started to swell and the earring began sinking into her earlobe. When she came back to LA a few days later, she went to her regular piercer, who told her that Daniel put them in the wrong place, and they were crooked, he used basic studs that were not surgical steel, nor were they even sterling silver, and they were butterfly backings, and he might as well have used an ear gun to pierce her! Her piercings had to be removed and her piercer had to re-pierce her in a different location, and do it the proper way. I called Daniel to report the issue and he actually argued and was completely rude with me, and told me that he always issues butterfly backings and earrings can sink through, he said an LA piercer was basically jealous of his work! He said our piercer was quote on quote "butt hurt"Haaaa! I even mentioned to him about a previous yelper on here complaining they had a similar experience from being pierced at this place. He said she was a liar. But Ummm We have proof of how horrible Daniel really is. My daughter spent $80 on this ridiculous guy, and you know what he offered her...a free piercing!! Ha.. who the hell would go back there after that and we don't even live there. This guy is an idiot. I guess that's what you get for going to a 25 rating tattoo shop! Yelp reviews can be legit so please check before you go. Last, Daniel claims 12 years of experience, pretty sad your two reviews are of people complaining about you. I can't speak about the tattoo artistry, but I can confidently say to NOT come here to get a piercing! I came in with 2 other friends in March and we all got piercings in different location. It's currently June, and all 3 of our piercings have been infected. This is absolutely appalling, especially considering that one of us got a simple lobe piercing, which heals very easily. The infections got so bad that my friend and I have been to the dermatologist multiple times, and my friend had to get her piercing surgically removed!! I came into Bella Arte 2 weeks after my piercing as I was very concerned; my piercing had a large bump the size of an M&M. The piercer told me to stop touching it (which I never did) and to start using tea tree oil. When I went to the dermatologist after, he told me that although this oil has antiseptic properties, it dries your skin out to the point where it'll irritate the wound for being too dry. This concerned me, and after a quick Google search, I found this to be true. It's definitely not a good look for piercers to be giving outdated information like this, so I stopped reporting back for advice. It's been 3 months since I received my piercing, and it's still infected (albeit almost healed -- thank you to my dermatologist). My friend who had gotten her piercing removed surgically spoke to Bella Arte, where they called her because she left a bad review and insisted that all 3 of us had to have infected our piercings by touching them, and that there is no way it could've happened in their facility. In my opinion, it's pretty blasphemous to say this given the context that we all had infected piercings within a week of receiving them together. Even if this were true, which it isn't, their workmanship forced my friend to undergo surgery to remove her cartilage, and there should be some sort of action taken to address this. I hate hate hate leaving bad reviews for places, and like to think that even businesses have off days. However, after the response received from the facility, as well as reading other similar reviews, I felt compelled to share, so that others can avoid the pain and get a piercing elsewhere, and so Bella Arte can avoid these issues in the future. read more

Had a great experience here years ago w/ a nose piercing so I brought my two friends here to get piercings. We all got different piercings and all of ours got infected :/ Had to go to the dermatologist and get steroids injected in the piercing. Hoping it doesn't develop keloids. Disappointed :/ Update: not only did my dermatologist inject the piercing, now he literally had to have my dermatologist cut out the infected piercing and stitch it up. it's too much of a coincidence that all three of us had our piercings infected at this place. My friend is related to the owner so we got out tattoos for the house minimum by Danny. I got two and was considering going back for a third but as mine healed I notice the lines were not straight and the color looked like a big blotch. I should have waited to go to my regular tattoo artist who charges more who I trust to do a good job. Would not recommend. They are nice though. read more

I was referred to Nico Perez @ Bella Arte Tattoo by an aquiantance for a cover up tattoo I was considering,... She gave me his cell number, where I sent him a text & he then told me to "come to the shop anytime to meet him and discuss details." My sister accompanied me to my 1st visit on 8/08/14, where we waited for over 1hr just to meet him & he only gave me 5mins of his time. I told him what I wanted & he told me "to sketch/ draw something custom, it's a $100 deposit plus tax" & I booked my appt for my 1week vacation from work, Tuesday 9/23/14. I paid $107.00 on 8/8/14 @ 6:22pm in cash, I have the receipt. We verbally agreed that he would contact me when he had a sketch & price estimate ready that I could approve before the scheduled appointment. A few days before the appt, I hadn't heard anything from him or the shop, so I contacted him via cell/ text but no response. I called & left a message at the shop with "Cathy" who then informed me that my appt was booked "for his day off," so they rescheduled it for Saturday 9/27/14, which I was unpleased with but accepted anyway. She assured me that she would contact him & he would get back to me early in the week of the appt. On Friday 9/26/14, I still hadn't heard anything back from Nico or the shop, and I was getting angry. I understand he's in demand with many conventions & the shop has 'status' b/c of their tv show, but business is business & all I know is that I paid a cash deposit for a sketch & price estimate that I never saw or received!!! I called the shop, spoke with "Jenna" who claims she contacted "Dana & Joe" (owners) & after "apologizing for all the inconvenience, Joe said I'm right & deserve to see a sketch, guaranteed Nico would text me a pic of the sketch." Well,... I anxiously waited all day Friday & guess what,...??? NO TEXT, SKETCH, PIC or PRICE ESTIMATE,...!!! It feels like I'm being stood up time after time after time,... Super aggravating & infuriating,...! After carefully studying the receipt & invoice, I learned that their "Deposit Policy" states: "All deposits are non-refundable & non-transferrable." Even worse, since I paid cash, I'm really screwed. By the time Saturday 9/27/14 1pm came, I was already so beyond words with this place that I decided to stand them up,... Figured I'm already out of the money so why not,...? They did it to me repeatedly,...! Two wrongs dont make a right, but this felt appropriate,... I received 2 calls that day, 1 from Nico & 1 from the shop. I didn't return their calls/ voice messages. I gave this shop 1 star simply because of the décor & they provide waiting customers with refreshments. Other then that, the shop which is 'so reputable' seems to be completely mismanaged and poorly run. I have 7 tattoos & my previous artist ALWAYS showed me a sketch prior to getting it done. My previous artist moved to Las Vegas which is the only reason I even considered coming here, by recommendation. I'm beyond irate that I'm out of the cash & can't even fathom the poor customer service, lack of management, ill scheduling conflicts, etc. I WANT MY $$$ BACK!!! read more

For the first time, I decided to ignore fellow Yelp reviews. My friend got a tattoo with Danny here last month and loved it, so I trusted her and came with her here today. Went in and was comforted by the clean and neat decor. Front desk women was extremely nice and gave me all the information I needed. I showed the artist I was given (Ben) a printout of what I wanted, and he sketched it perfectly for me (even better than I thought). It was small and for my wrist, but still!! He suggested the middle, but when I asked for the side he did not make me feel uncomfortable in the least or wrong. I'm a huge baby when it comes to being hurt, but this experience was nothing of the sort!! Do not come here for a piercing. My cartilage was cracked from getting a helix piercing. Now my ear permanently has a bump on it. I wish I remembered the guys name but I would not recommend coming here at all. Hella expensive too just to get a cracked cartilage. read more

It took 5 minutes to get the needle through because he got it through the skin on the front and couldn't get it through the back. NICO PEREZ you were awesome, thank you! I was in today (12/28/14) for my holiday tattoo. Nico took me in for my 1pm appointment and explained everything I needed to know. Nico made me feel comfortable because my tattoo was a bit large, so I had to lay on my side. Nico was very professional, his studio was very clean, and he knew his "stuff"! Yes, there is a $100.00 + tax (nonrefundable) deposit, but then again, these guys don't work for free! Remember, if you (the customer) don't show up, that's time and money they (artist) loose (not to mention health benefits etc). I'm from Northern Virginia and my cousin told me to go check out Bella while I was visiting over Thanksgiving. I had in my mind what I might want to get but I wasn't necessarily ready because I was unsure of how I wanted my ink to look when it was finished. These guys rocked my socks off! It's rare that I go out of my way to put a good review but these guys (especially Nico Perez) know how to take care of their customer. I don't know what the other reviewer experienced there but what I experienced was the awesome atmosphere, insane creativity and caring nature of the staff at Bella Arte. They feel like family when you walk in. Everybody in the shop seemed to play off each other's ideas to put out the best product. True artistic synergy at its finest! On top of that, I was really impressed by how much they cared to inquire about all the ink I've got and what I want to do in the future. They gave me such amazing advice, I felt like I should've paid for it! You know the feeling. Hopefully my stellar experience there helps everyone make their decision easier. These guys are legit and they don't carry themselves (especially the owner) as people who have been featured on a hit reality show. Kudos to them for doing it right!! I had my first tattoo with Ben. It was the worst experience ever. First of all it took him 4 hours to do a tattoo that was supposed to take him 2 1/2 hours max. And second I had to literally go to the shop a month later and make a scene so this guy could finish the tattoo. Un-freaking-believable. Thank god the owner stepped in and told this guy to finish the tattoo he had started. Stay away from this guy. @ Dayna G: First of all I don't know your tattoo artist on a personal level, I don't know you and I've never visited your shop prior to this incident. So tell me what would be the motive for me trying to bring down your shop or the artist. You're not even making any sense. Second I have the receipt when Ben started the tattoo and I have the receipt when he finished it. I will find a way to upload the receipt to expose you since you can't remember what transpired and maybe you can explain to your potential customers why it took you people almost a month to finish a damn half sleeve. Are you guys that incompetent? Third the only reason I wrote a review about this incident after so long is because someone ask me for a referral where to get their first tattoo done and I thought I should do the world a service by letting them know what they should expect from this shop. Never have I said that Ben didn't know what he was doing. My issue was that you people just don't have any consideration for people's time and you don't value your customers. Now for you Dayna G to take this platform and deny any recollection of this incident just show me that YOU ARE A LIAR. I went there to have a tattoo done over a surgical scar. Ally Tufaro did such an excellent job that you can't even see there was a scar. She made a beautiful floral piece which I love! On top of that Ally has such a great personality! We got along so well and had great conversations during the process of getting my tattoo. You can tell she loves her job and is passionate about her work. Also the shop is clean and they follow CDC guidelines In regards to COVID-19. I went for a piercing and a tattoo appointment.. I asked for a daith and the piercer gave me a rook instead and I didn't notice till I got home.. I was not able to make my tattoo bec I had a death in my family, and they would not give me my 100 down payment back for the tattoo.. very unprofessional and on top of it the piercer and the girl who sat in the room also were bashing the owner Joey. read more

Unfortunately my last few experiences with this establishment have been less than pleasant. My first tattoo with Nico had several blowouts a couple of crooked lines and some bad color spots. When I went in for another tattoo with the different artist I showed him and he didn't even remember doing the tattoo, nor did he offer to fix it. My half sleeve was being worked on by Ashley Nicole. In her own right an incredible artist but new to tattooing. She spent probably twice as long on the sleeve which I did not mind because the artwork came out excellent. I was getting ready to move to Virginia Beach and I told her my next trip back we would finish it. Several months later I returned, tried to make several appointments with her, one she canceled. Come to find out she ended up spending the day doing walk in appointments after she canceled for a "family emergency". She had plenty of time to finish the tattoo during the day. I extended my trip an entire day so she could finish it on Friday. A day and a half went by and I heard nothing from her. Two hours past our verbally agreed upon appointment time she texted me about coming in later that evening. Half the day was already over and with the drive from New York City it would not of worked. She said she was babysitting her bosses children. I guess her boss needs to decide if he wants a tattoo artist or a babysitter. I'm all set with the shop, I'll have the work finished and fixed by one of my other artists in a different area. I'm not saying the artwork at the shop is bad but the professionalism of the artists is a lot to be desired! read more

Went here on Sunday as a walk-in, after trying unsuccessfully, to find a place that was open and not already booked. The receptionists and artists there were very welcoming and chill while our group went back and forth on the details of our tattoos. The waiting room had a TV, lots of couches, and drinks. It made you feel super comfortable while they prepped their stations. The rooms where the actual process took place was clean and looked like it followed the typical protocol for a sterile environment. Only downside was that it was a bit pricey for the size of the tattoo but it in no way made it a negative experience. I will definitely be back for another tattoo. read more

The place is really cool and clean inside....but what a BIG disappointment with the way they handle me as a client...I am walking around with there art on my body which represents Bella shop...I asked to have something fixed (and was going to pay for it) and they totally blew me off. Plus while I was getting inked the owners daughter was in the room with me who is like 4 or 5 years of age. I am extremely insulted by this, I went to another shop and had them fix it and loving it! So know I can tell people the bad part about my ink but I get to show off the end results which know I am proud to walk around with! read more

I just looked up the shop to recommend a friend, and the reviews I saw were beyond inaccurate. Nico is the only artist that i will ever trust to tattoo me. I've had 4 different artists with over 40 hours of work done, and the 14 hours that Nico put in were by far the best tattooing experience. The massive piece I got done was way above any expectations I had. My tattoo looks like a photograph of a lion, it's amazing. It was on my ribs too, and was very tolerable. I was even falling asleep at times. When a couple months before that I got a tattoo in the same spot by someone else and i couldn't even sit for 2 hours. I already have another appointment later this month. Just as an example of how honest he is, i went in with an idea of hard lines to complete my ribs. Nico liked the idea, but told me it's not the place to get it done because of the elastically of the skin in that location. We then sat down and decided on something completely different, and i'm so happy with the new idea. He is just an all around great artist, and defiantly your guy if you want an amazing one of a kind realistic tattoo. Ben is also another great artist from the shop. I have a couple friends that have gotten tons of work done, and he's their man. Depending on your style, those two cover it all. read more

I got my first tattoo at a very recommended place in Montclair, and was so unhappy. When I told the artist what I wanted before the tattoo and after it was finished he just didn't get it. I was recommended by a friend to see Dan at Bella Arte. Immediately he got what I wanted. He fixed the tattoo to be exactly what I originally intended. FYI first tattoo took 10 mins 'fixing' it took 35 and it's perfect. Hugely recommend Dan! read more
