My son plays lacrosse for our town club and this Pure Hockey is co-located with ComLax so we recently stopped in for new elbow pads for the boy. I don't know lacrosse equipment and since my son has only played for a few years (and not on a true travel team) he really doesn't know much about equipment either. When we walked in we were greeted and the guy asked us what we were looking for...once we told him he pushed us off on someone else (the first guy was clearly the hockey guy and the second guy was clearly the lacrosse guy). Anyway, the guy brings us back to the lax equipment area, points and says here's what we have. Thanks for the help... There were a lot of differernt options here, but most of what was there were small and medium sizes and my son needed a large. If we hadn't had a coupon we probably would have left, but we stuck it out, tried on some options and finally found a pair that he liked. Just didn't catch a whole lot of enthusiasm from the guy who was supposed to be the lacrosse guy. Don't know if I'll be back the next time he needs equipment...it's expensive everywhere, but a little customer service goes a long way with me. read more

Pure Hockey offers an amazing selection of ice hockey (and lacrosse) equipment. My husband has been playing ice hockey for years and has been to many stores across Long Island and Northern New Jersey, but since this location opened, it has become his go to store. They offer ice skate sharpening ($7). He loves the way they sharpen his skates. He said it's much better than the pro shops in the local ice rinks. In addition to sharpening his skates here, he has also purchased gloves, ice skates, and many hockey sticks here. They offer a great selection at reasonable prices. They also sell all pads, helmets, etc. The hubby buys rolls of tape here for both his hockey stick and his socks. I'm always amazed when I walk into the store with him. It's a gigantic store dedicated strictly to ice hockey and lacrosse. Where else can you find a place like this? They have a nice selection of Devils and Rangers items (clothing as well as souvenir type items available) since they are the local teams. read more

Great selection, they had everything I was looking for. Service was good. I waited for about 10 minutes to get someone to help. The only reason it took so long was because the sales guys were all busy helping other people so I can't complain. Bonus is I got the wrong size cage and since I live very far away from the store they exchanged it for me via mail. John helped me out and they mailed it back in one day. Seems like a nice full stock store. Cs is a hit or miss there. Prices are pretty good and match up with what you get from online retailers. I agree with another post about the sharpening a. They were off after a brand new skate cut. They cross cut them and the one skate was off and it was a waste of good money that day I tried testing out my new skates. Had to have them corrected. Other then that recommend the store for equipment selections. read more

We had a great experience at this store. We were looking for some female protective gear, and they had a lot of options, and changing rooms to be sure everything fit properly. Used to be a Pure Hockey Fan but not anymore. Broken CCM stick 2 weeks after purchase and went through warranty claim with CCM only to be told we need to go through Pure Hockey for Warranty replacement. Called Pure Hockey and am told they don't have it in stock but I should come down to their store so they can order it online and have it shipped to my house. WHAT??? Why do I have to physically come into the store for you order a stick to have it shipped to my house, I live half-hour away? I'm then told by the associate that they need a CC to enter into the system in order to place the order. WHAT??? I'm not purchasing anything as you are replacing it under warranty, why do you need my CC #? Now I get the Manager John on the phone. He now tells me that they need me to bring the physical stick to the store and only then can they place the order. Now I'm totally confused because the Associate never said that to me. On top of that, had I purchased the stick anywhere else I could have simply sent CCM a picture of the broken stick along with the receipt and they would have sent me a new stick without me traveling to CCM headquarters. Thanks for the lack of Customer Service and Convenience Pure Hockey. A busy Hockey parent of 3 travel Hockey Players can say making time to come to your store to place an order when this can all be done electronically is really just ridiculous. read more

I went to the Carle Place location today, twice. I don't see it on the Yelp.. but I had to write something. The guys in the Carle Place location were the absolute best. I'm a hockey novice, at best. I mean. I can skate.. and I have dreams. Anyway, they were super helpful, it was the end of the day and they probably super didn't want to help me.. but they really took their time to help me and it was very helpful and appreciated. If you need any hockey (or lacrosse) equipment- I could not possibly recommend this store more. Two Thumbs up. read more

Customer Service is non-existent. Stood by the registers to pay for my item. One employee texting in the back and talking to another employee who was sharpening skates. They see me standing there and neither acknowledged me nor asked if I needed anything. Texting employee then leaves to put something on shelf and passes me. Again, zero acknowledgement. Walks back and then finally asks if I am ready. Surprised to see "manager" on his name tag. Here's a novel idea - take care of your customer first, then put the item on the shelf. If you see a customer waiting, it won't hurt to ask if they need something rather than standing and texting on your phone. If you are sharpening skates and see a customer ready to check out, tell them that someone else will be right there. A customer shouldn't ask if they can be helped. That's what you're there for. It's your job to assist. read more

Whatever you do, don't sharpen your kids' skates here. They have absolutely no clue what they are doing! My son's skates were over 4 degrees off. I took them to another shop to be resharpened & the folks there couldn't believe how bad the skates were done; gentlemen there said if a pair of skates left their shop like that someone would get fired. Really dangerous too. Drive the extra 10 minutes to Floyd Hall if you're in need of a sharpening in the Fairfield area. read more

Poor, poor, poor customer service!! They act like you are a bother when you walk in. I would rather go to Floyd Hall's shop or Non Stop Hockey in Cedar Grove....both are more consumer friendly!!! read more
