We when to Virginia Beach and won. When I got a little bit older I started to notice that she was separating the group. She was looking for a certain kind of girl, certain shape. My mom didn't believe me but I knew soon as her daughter left I was off The competitive team. She doesn't like the parents to watch the kids while they practice. So parents sit in separate area. Also when I was a kid The other parents and my mother would have him sew all the costumes. I left the team and went to a different dance company nice one more friendly one and one that excepted different size body. We never worked together but she felt it necessary to leave a negative, dishonest review as if we worked together. Shameful behavior. I signed her up for princess dance camp and when we got there I realized it wasn't handicap accessible so I couldn't bring my mom in a wheelchair up. I also had my 5 month old with me. It was extremely hot in the waiting area and I didn't feel comfortable leaving my child with the student teachers alone because then there would have been no adult. I left and brought my mom and baby to my mom in-law because it was too hot for him and my mom was not able to come up. My daughter was the only one in a princess dress and the youngest student and with that she felt very singled out. I decided with these reasons if my daughter is refusing to go back I won't force her. We also live 40 minutes away. I attached all the payments they made me make. Around $250.00 She's only attended one class. I was made to pay $45 for her to have a spot in the fall dance class, 15$ as a holding fee And $183 for her princess camp The owner refuses to refund me anything instead refund my account of $163 that can only be used at the dance studio that I pulled her out of. It was advertised that the teacher is a BCBA and with a quick license check, i discovered that the teacher is NOT A BCBA. She is at best, an occupational therapist. So many times i came to get my son from class, and a different person was teaching the class. It was advertised that your child will benefit in such areas as posture, strength, coordination, concentration, confidence, spatial awareness and socialization. I can assure you none of that happened. With special needs children, they need consistency and this school isn't the place. The "teacher" made a false report to DCF and the school has refused to refund me for the rest of his classes citing their "policy". I sent emails to both the teacher and the head of the dance school and every email was ignored. Yesterday when i had to go in to speak to the owner, she literally told me she got my emails and chose to not respond. She also forgets who she meets. A few weeks ago, she came up to me introducing herself to which i had to tell her "you met me the week I enrolled my son" she turned beet red in embarassment. The week that they made a false claim to DCF, I was in disney world with my son, and i spent thousands on a vacation to have it practically ruined by these false calls by the dance studio. I had to get on the phone to DCF instead of enjoying a family vacation. I'm a single mom and I save all year long to be able to take my son on this vacation and it wasn't right or fair to have our vacation ruined by the false reports that CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS made. I was threatened by DCF over this. All I wanted was my money back and michelle refused to give it to me. Apparently her school must be hurting for money if she cant give me back my $30. Had they not called and placed a false report, my son would still be attending their school, even with the other issue. She also has her husband and family write reviews of her dance school which is actually forbidden. This school is very disorganized. constant children running about, food trash all over the place and other clothing items just scattered about. For the winter performance we were told that the class would be performing in the theater, the lady at the desk told me the class would be coming down to the theater. 715 came and went, and then it was 725 and still no performance. My parents, my sons dad and myself were sitting and waiting because we were told that was where they would be performing. I went upstairs only to find out the class already performed. My parents cannot do stairs well at all and there is no elevator to go upstairs. they don't have any disablity access. If you can't climb stairs then it sucks to be you. I was okay with receiving even a partial refund, but even this was refused. Considering the industry FirstDance works in, I would have expected better customer service and a willingness to work something out. Now I regret ever signing up for the classes at this business. Tip for future customers: If you sign up for their new student introductory class ($45), they will try to get you to sign up for a bulk package of classes at the very end. They say it is cheaper to purchase the classes right then and there because they offer "special pricing" since you're a "new student". Their whole business model is to have you buy 20-40 classes all at once for $90-$100 per session instead of paying more for individual classes. I fell victim to this sales tactic and decided to sign up for 30 classes at the end of the intro class. I wish FirstDance could be more understanding of their clients and offer a better refund policy. I have 30 classes that I will likely never use.

I had a membership and was getting some individual training and paying for that. Then I got breast cancer and after my surgery and during radiation I requested to put my training and my membership on hold but told them I would return as soon as I could. I can't recall now but they have a policy of putting things on hold for only a limited amount of time and then it starts back up again - even with the letter from my surgeon and radiologist. So they were charging me while I was recovering from surgery, etc. For some strange reason - I had imagined they would be sympathetic and might want to partner with me in my recovery. But that would be a big no. They had zero sympathy and insisted that charging me was just their policy and that was that. I was super disappointed in them on many levels. I cancelled my membership and of course that was complicated as well. I spent money on many months of membership and personal training I could not use and showed very good reason for not being able to do so. Just sad - helping someone recover and get their strength and self esteem back after traumatic surgery ... well that would have been a nice review to write. Just wasn't going to happen here.

The most strange part is how someone thought it was a great idea to place the cardio section as the first are in the gym as u walk past the front desk. I dont know how many people feel comfortable with having everyone coming into the gym see you when youre most vulnerable lol. Theres also weird sectioned partition walls (about 3 ft) to cage this area in. I think they could of done away w this. The other main issue I have is how the gym smells like dirty socks/ mildew Other cons: - only 2 squat racks and 1 smith machine - limited cables - very dated bathrooms/lockers/gym - like i mean it looks like the tuscan italian 2000s kitchen aesthetic - didnt see any 2.5lb weight stack for the cables/machines (this couldve been hiding, but accessories should still be easily accessible) - overpriced for what it is. I think this gym is worth $20 a month w an max annual fee of $40. As of 1/14 the basic membership is $25/mo + $150 start up + $60 annual fee - womens sauna light wasnt working Pros: - somewhat new machines (but not well kept) - incremental dumbbells up to 30 lbs or something - gender saunas and in locker rooms ( the co ed communal saunas that r near the pools are never clean and nice) - nice and friendly front desk guy (younger 20s/teens - has a nice turf
