Not a phone in sight. I was so impressed that I took an adult wheel throwing class and it was clear that the Abington Art Studio is for anyone and everyone. I finally get an opening with this studio after trying over and over again, and when we show up on the first night of class, the studio is locked and no lights are on. I call and message the number on the sign outside, and no one gets back to me for 24 hours. I'm then told that this class has been moved to a completely different day and time, and no one bothered to reach out to us! Not sure why I'm expected to be a mind reader. And now that this class has been moved, they officially have ZERO classes that cater to children with working parents. Beyond disappointing.

Debbie Koshinski the Owner has been teaching there for 10 years now . Her Instruction is fantastic and she really listens to her students. The Studio has a classic Ballroom Feel to it with a very good sound system.. Her Dance Parties always have great food to nibble on so if your just interested in watching what people do here you can feel comfortable just hanging out.. Her teacher training is The Best and managed by Debbie herself. If you've ever wanted to learn how to dance with a partner, have a wedding dance to get ready for, dreamed about teaching ballroom dance, or at least move in time to the music Debbie has the patience and the caring attitude to help you get there. The kids can take out the toys, but there aren't many options for the small black top yard. The lack of kitchen is another thing. All the food is microwaved and there are no fresh meals except peanut butter sandwiches sometimes. The staff are rude to the children and talk bad about them constantly in front of other children. Some of them play favorites and it shows. Some of the staff are also lazy. Miss Martha would leave an autistic child strapped into a high chair for hours on end just so she didn't have to keep him out of trouble. She would leave him in a soiled diaper all day long, not changing it unless absolutely needed. Then would also send him back to the toddler room so she didn't have to watch him. The toddler room teacher let this boy roam free and just kept an extra close eye on him, which he needed. Another one of the teachers would complete her school work while she was supposed to be monitoring the children. They constantly over ratio the students and the lack of toys and books is disgusting. The toys are kept out of reach of the children and they are not allowed to play with them unless the teacher says. They only have a slim selection of toys as the owner does not want to keep buying them after the kids break them, a typical expense of running a daycare. The books are nonexistent for the same reason. If a child's play breaks anything, she doesn't replace it and leaves no resources for the kids to engage with, constantly getting them in trouble with the teachers for misbehaving due to boredom. And don't even get me started on the lack of care. I witnessed illegal issues and brough it up to the owner only to be ignored after providing the documentation requested. The owner's sister is a joke. She only cooks and never helps with the kids properly. When she does, she's short and rude. Her daughter is also a huge bully to the other students and she tantrums when they don't what she wants to do. The teachers were instructed not to make copies of resources to teach the children. We were told to only print when needed but were expected to keep the children educated and entertained with no resources, educational videos, or worksheets/activities. Some of the staff were very friendly and loved the children like their own, Azra, Pashtoon, and Badriya in particular, but the rest of the staff were short, rude, and cared for only the money. I found Christianchildcares.com, an in home child care that offered drop in services. When visiting with Janet over the phone she invited me to visit so I did...I immediately felt at home and completely at ease with her and the other children. Her home was very clean and orderly with the children happy and well behaved. I was very impressed!! I am a stay at home mother not really because we can afford it but because I have felt by the day care options where I live due to quality interaction and price we cannot afford for me not to stay home...If Janet was available in Nashville I would feel completely at ease leaving my precious girl with her. Janet has a caring, easy, direct way about her that you will much appreciate!! I encourage you to use her services anytime! She offers caring interaction and activities with your child! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to find her while visiting this city! What a blessing!!

This center embraces learning through play like none other! The quality of care is top notch, with…read morestaff members holding degrees in every room. The director holds a degree in education and in nursing, so the cleanliness is above satisfactory. My child come home happy, clean, and singing songs she learned at school. She also has a daily craft/ art project and says how much she loves she friends and teachers! I'm so thrilled to have the comfort of knowing she is in good hands while I'm at work!

I used to work at at Sunshine and Rainbows and it is wonderful center! The teachers in the pre-k…read moreroom and Toddler room are certified teachers with Master's Degrees. The director was very generous to the staff, and follows strict guidelines set by the state of PA. The center is located in a safe neighborhood with locked, fenced in yard and security cameras installed. Home cooked meals are prepared daily for the children. The owner has been operating for 33 years and is a certified nurse. Weekly news letters and daily communication to parents are through the class dojo. However, it is up to the parents to read them. I still the center from time to time to do evaluations and the program is amazing. I always leave there in awe of what the kids are learning. I am also friends with them on Facebook. I make unannounced visits and there is never a classroom out of ratio. The children have many centers that are loaded with play materials enough for more than one child to play at a time. There are play areas set up that offer many learning experiences including STEAM and a computer area. I think this is one of the BEST daycare and preschool centers in Northeastern PA. I would highly recommended it.

During my time, there were multiple issues, definitely ones that wouldn't be happening at a respectable school. Let's start with the cleanliness and structure of the school. IT IS BEYOND DISGUSTING. The bathroom has blood and a collection of other bodily fluids on the stall walls (which has been brought to the directors attention multiple times and still remains). The pedicure station is a hallow wooden bench that floods regularly. This has created mold and rot to the structure, that is very visible on the wall. At one point, there was a gas leak that the students and staff had reported multiple times. It took over a week for the school to fix or acknowledge it, which resulted in the school shutting down for a day to finally fix it. The water temperature is a tricky thing as well, and regular clients will crack jokes while you try to make the water in the sink not scolding hot or freezing cold. The place is a disaster. Product and supplies. Part of the expense of attending the school is the tool kit, which includes a ridiculous amount of things that you will either not use or breaks regularly. The teachers that I had struggled to ration supplies for lessons and the salon section was constantly out of very necessary things. Not a hair color here and there, we're talking all shampoos, massive amounts of color, perm solutions, the list goes on and on. I personally had a client who was getting a perm, the assistant director did the consultation with me, acknowledged that the client needed two boxes of perm solution, brought me one box and told me to have the teacher get the next one when I was ready, and left. Needless to say, there was no other box of perm solution... She left knowing this, my client having only half her hair coated, and my teacher trying to scramble for a solution. IT'S THE OBVIOUS CARELESSNESS AND THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT ARE MANDATORY DAY TO DAY. I truly believe that most errors on clients were created by lack of supplies or someone not ordering them correctly... Staff and environment is really the cherry on top. I can personally say that the teachers, I was lucky enough to have, were top shelf and went above and beyond. They resulted to bringing in their own supplies, when the school didn't have what they needed. I can't say that for the whole staff. The director is notorious for yelling in her fish bowl office, that sits in the lobby I might add, at staff or students. Doesn't matter who is sitting in the waiting area, will put on a full on show. Approaching her was mostly a hassle as well. When asked about constant dress code or policy changes, she was extremely condescending and always had a "because I said so" attitude. While I attending, we had multiple students threaten other students and teachers, and the "uppers" always let them back, with zero action taken. An example: threats to run over another student who was pregnant, the directors reply "the parking lot isn't school property". This resulted in the student dropping out due to safety concerns the next day and the other student with zero repercussions. There was always a level of favoritism and I truly believe she was willing to put other students at risk because of that. There's a constant turn over in educators as well, and all of the students knew entirely too much of the behind the scenes, the lines were constantly blurred. We're talking educator/student affairs, educators partying with students, the list goes on and on. Looking back, I see the school for what it is. It's a place to get your certificate. It's not the placed to expect grown adults running a respectable school. It's stepping into a time machine, entering the "Mean Girl" world to the highest degree and the staff is part of the clique. It's not a place where you are guaranteed the best education or access to the best products on the market. It's the lowest of the tiers, when looking at other beauty school programs and locations. Is it worth the money? Ehh, not out of pocket. If you're looking for a professional experience and education, invest and go elsewhere. **update to the response** The fact that McKenzie or Jessica replied only to the cleaning concerns is absurd. The school has been reported multiple times, for years, before I was even there. They make zero changes, the staff remains under qualified and unprofessional, the facility is still disgusting (I was literally there on Thursday for a graduation and couldn't even use the bathroom because of how disgusting it is), and they continue to not provide or keep in stock products. They should be embarrassed to be taking people's money.

Went for a manicure and pedicure. There was no instructor supervision. I never had a manicure…read more and pedicure (both) in 30 minutes. No filing or clipping of the nails. No trimming of the cuticles. 4 steps of polish was put on one right after the other. None of the steps in their instruction sheet were followed. She was more worried about what the other girls were doing. Called when I got home. Told the instructor my nails still didn't dry(she said it could take up to 24 hours) ! Although she said I could come back and have it corrected I wasn't interested at that point. There was no instructor to check on the girl. Even when I went to pay no one asked if I was happy with the service. I didn't say anything at that point because the girl walked up with me and although I was not happy I didn't want to embarrass her. Yes you get what you pay for.

They also have lots of activities going on randomly like Zumba and markets but I haven't seeked out those so I don't know much. One thing to note is that when the Zumba is going on on the second floor, all the jumping can get pretty loud if you're trying to study. Also my boyfriend said he was kicked out for loitering recently after not buying anything a while back which I think defeats the whole purpose of the place, I will update the review when I go there and figure out if it was just that one worker that didn't know, or if this isn't really the 'non-profit third place' that I expected. I'm assuming it was just a one-time thing, as I have literally brought in and ate a cheesecake before.
