Don't go here if you're not a regular. You won't get the treatment you want if your a new customer. The vibe was awkward and the quality was bare minimum. I asked for a trim and it was very badly done. Also it was EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. I got charged 65$ for a simple trim I could've done at home but I wanted it professionally done yet nothing about this salon experience was professional. This salon may look nice inside but it's misleading. I needed to get it fixed because it looked terrible. So i went to a different place, to luscious beauty bar in willits and they did my trim for 15$ bucks (50 dollar difference) for a extremely professional and quick trim. It was perfectly fixed. My nine year old daughter is sensitive about getting her hair brushed or styled, and taking her for a haircut was often a nightmare until we found James, a stylist at Bella Capelli. He always does an excellent job on her hair as well as my two year old son, and has a way of making it a fun experience. Sometimes we call, but sometimes we are able to get a walk in appointment. Everyone there is always friendly, even when I'm late... They have a box full of toys for toddlers, which is really nice for me since I have one. The salon is located next to a lot of other fun businesses, so it's convenient if you're looking to get a cup of coffee or shop a little at the same time. I've been going here for over a year and always went to Alana. I was thrilled to find such a competent stylist that left my hair looking perfect ever time. She never cut off to much, had wonderful chair-side manner, and would always listen attentively to make sure I got my desired look. Recently however, I had to schedule with Niki expecting that as the owner of the salon she would give me similar results. Unfortunately, this was not at all the case. She rushed the appointment, was rough and sloppy when applying gloss and washing my hair, and the last straw was the terrible haircut she gave me. Not at all what I had asked for. I didn't realize the full extent of her errors until I got home and my mother and I were both horrified. I requested simple long layers in the front and back that blended into my grown out bangs. What I got was inexcusable, choppy and way to short. The heft and volume of my hair was ruined and it looked similar to a grown out mullet. I've been trying to grow my hair for nearly a year and had to cut all of that precious length off into a bob to look presentable. While I can highly recommend Alanna, I cannot in good conscience suggest Niki. I am truly disappointed that a stylist who has been doing this for so long would be so unprofessional and leave a client looking completely ridiculous. When I got there, she took the time to listen to my issues with my hair. She made some great recommendations to me on how to have healthier hair. Wow! I'm a 60 plus woman who has had long,long hair FOREVER. I didn't mind the grey hair, but losing my gorgeous natural light & medium auburn locks was depressing as instead of grey it was a weird yucky brassy color! I made an appointment with Niki, owner of Bella Capelli. She is an artist, and her canvas is hair! I chose to have my hair permanently dyed and the color palate she created matched my natural colors so perfectly that my boyfriend asked if I got my hair done or had changed my mind. The colors are so beautifully blended one would never guess I had it done . The nearly waist length hair is gone and a shoulder length layered style suits me to a "T"! I sent pics to my munchkins and even my normally stoic son loved it! The shop is perfect and friendly Mr. Jack, Niki's rescued American Husky (I hope I got that right) is a sweet little giy who welcomes everyone and sits in his bed watching the shop & Niki. I decided to book a trial with Bella Capelli for my August wedding, based on their great Yelp reviews. I sent them an email in March at the address provided on their website. No response. Sent a follow up email a month later, still no response. I probably should've given up there and then, but decided to follow up with a call, since my wedding was about 40 mins from the salon and there weren't many local options in the small town of Ukiah. I was able to get ahold of someone and booked a trial with Alanna for hair and Sarah for makeup. I sent Alanna a number of photos for reference but she didn't respond. I followed up with an email to confirm my appointment, to which I received a response from Alanna. I took off work for the weekend and drove up to Ukiah (a 2.5 hour drive) specifically for the trial. The trial went well, I thought. Alanna and Sarah were both super sweet and professional. I told them what I liked and what I didn't like, and was told that we were basically all set for my date. The pricing was very reasonable, so I told them I looked forward to signing a contract with them and putting down a deposit to secure the date. A few weeks went by and I didn't hear from them. I followed up with an email asking if there was anything they needed from me to secure the date. Most stylists ask for a deposit and contract right away, I thought it was strange that I needed to chase them down. No response. Three weeks later I emailed Alanna again as it was 2 months out from my wedding. Finally heard back from Alanna saying we were confirmed and that she would forward the contract shortly. I also received a call back from Sarah to discuss my notes for make up, which I appreciated. However three weeks later still no contract. It had been two months since my trial and I was starting to get worried. Under no circumstance should it take two months to get an agreement locked down. If they were no longer able or interested in working my wedding it should have been communicated to me shortly after the trial session, to allow for ample time to find another stylist. I emailed Alanna once again asking for a contract. Almost two weeks later I received an email with a single attachment. The attachment was a jpg that was a tiny photo taken by a phone of the contract printed on a piece of paper. Not a word document or a pdf, a phone PICTURE of a blank contract. When blown up to an appropriate size, all of the text was blurry and illegible. Completely unusable. During this entire process I was doubtful that they were even going to show up for my wedding, despite their saying we were confirmed. I started to panic about a month out so had to look for an alternative. I spent HOURS looking for someone who was available in the area. I was furious because I already had so much on my plate. Most bay area make up artists were either already booked or too expensive. The few artists in Ukiah were also booked. Lisa from The Parlour was actually very sympathetic and even offered to squeeze me in even though she had another wedding the same morning of my wedding. Kudos to her. By the skin of my teeth I was able to find a last minute option in SF but it was far from an ideal situation. I wrote an email to Alanna saying that I had to go with another artist because of this very unprofessional process they put me through and I received no response from her. I consider myself a very positive and reasonable person. And as someone who is in the service industry as well, rarely do I write negative reviews. While I'm sure Alanna and Sarah are very nice people and talented artists for booked appointments at their salon, it seems that they will do your event if it is convenient to them. Who is the client here? Who should be chasing who? As a business, my advice would be this: do not offer to do weddings as an option if you are not prepared to handle the job or even do the minimum of showing up and making your bride feel comfortable with her decision. If you are offering a service that is costing a bride hundreds of dollars, you should be prepared to complete that service from beginning to end. Communication between us was terrible and I did not feel like a priority to them in any way. If you're looking for someone reliable to help you feel relaxed and beautiful on the day of your wedding, I would steer clear from Bella Capelli. If anything they caused me the most stress during my entire planning process. read more

In January 2015 I reached out to Niki at Bella Capelli for offsite hair and make-up services for my wedding at a lake about 35 minutes away from the salon. Niki confirmed her availability and sent an email outlining the salons prices (which were very reasonable). About six weeks before my wedding, I emailed Niki to touch base and confirm the number of bridesmaids requiring services. Niki confirms she's good to go and provides a new service cost of $1,200, more than double from the initial quote. I asked her for more information as to where the additional cost came from and she proceeded to give me a price breakdown for 'weddings on location' (clearly this should have been provided to me back in January, when she gave me her 'pricing'). Based off the original pricing, I worked out that 5 up-dos and 5 full face make-up with lash application would come to about $600 - completely reasonable! (this did not include transportation or gratuity - which I completely expected to pay in addition). Then, more than six months later I come to understand that the cost of services is $1,200 (at least) meaning that I was to be charged $600 for 'traveling & set-up time'. The salon is about 35 minutes from the lake. Even if we factor in two hours of pre/post prep and an hour driving, that's $200 per hour and far more than I expected to pay. When I told Niki that I had not budgeted an additional $600 for these services and was not going to be able to afford Bella Capelli she simply said, "Thanks for letting us know. Have a lovely wedding". Well that all well and good but after more than 6 months, 19 emails and multiple calls later, I really expected some kind of "let's meet in the middle, given the history I don't want to leave you totally screwed on your wedding day" call or email. If this were to happen in San Francisco, it wouldn't be the end of the world. There are a ton of makeup artists and hair stylists all over the bay and I could have easily found a replacement. Unfortunately, given the timing of the wedding every single salon in the tiny town of Ukiah was booked. Even the salons that were booked were nice enough to try and find friends, friends of friends, etc to help me out. (Thanks Halo, the Parlour and Pompadora!) Unfortunately, I never was able to secure someone for my hair and makeup on my wedding day. My friends came together and helped me out, but it was definitely not the situation I wanted. Bottom line, Niki should have been more upfront with her costs from the get-go. Had she been more upfront, I could have budgeted in her cost many months in advance. read more

Alanna is an incredibly stylist who gives you honest opinion with her experience, but still lets you choose how you want your style done. She helped my hair go from a tangled, frizzy and thick mess to smooth burgundy locks. I would highly recommend Bella Capelli and Alanna if you are looking to completely revamp your hair, or just go in for a quick trim. The price is well worth the work done. read more

This is a great little hair salon in downtown Ukiah! Easily made an appointment for a cut/layer and thinning of my hair and as soon as I walked in was greeted by a bubbly and considerate stylist named Alana. She did a wonderful job on my hair, I had a great time, no one could have done a better job! I really felt like she knew exactly what I wanted done and I trusted her with my hair and it came out perfect! I got my hair cut a few days ago at this salon. It hadn't been cut in months and was super uneven from a previous bad haircut. I normally go to Supercuts because I'm a cheapass but I decided to try this place instead. It was clean and cozy. They had music playing, like a top 40 hits station which was fun. Alanna washed and cut my hair and did a great job! She was friendly, efficient and gave me tons of samples and helpful tips about my hair. After a horrible haircut at another salon. All my friends told me to get it fixed by niki at Bella Capelli, The same day i went in and met her and she fit me into her busy day just to fix my disaster so i didn't have to walk around with it. She did a great job and actually made it look like i had wanted it to in the first place. That was 3 years ago and i will never go to another stylist for a haircut or color. Her shop is adorable and the people that work there are very friendly, It's also really nice that i can bring my son when i don't have a babysitter and he is also totally welcome without any issues.
