I've been dealing with chronic back pain for most of my life. And none of them ever did as much to give me pain relief as half an hour with Consuelo. I've been hesitant to try massage here in the Imperial Valley, especially as a transgender woman, but Consuelo was very nice and didn't make me feel unwelcome or unsafe. On the contrary, she's very easy to feel comfortable around, and she made me feel perfectly at ease throughout my time in her studio. Her massage work is firm enough to release the tension from your muscles but not so hard as to be uncomfortable. The way she finds and targets the tightest muscles to work all the tension out is absolutely magical. I decided to get my hair colored done for the very FIRST TIME here with Mychelle. I've never had it…read morecolored and I did not want something extreme and crazy. So I decided to get an Ombre. Please keep in mind that I know Mychelle because I've gone to her for haircuts in the past and only haircuts. I do like the way she cuts hair so I thought she would be good at doing my ombre because there was that sense of trust. I signed up for the following service: haircut and ombre. Before I started I showed her pictures of the color I wanted and how I wanted it to be done. I told her that I wanted my hair to look as natural with a light shade of brown. Well what I got was extreme and not what I wanted. Something that concerned during the process was when her mother, Lulu came over and told her daughter that the way she was bleaching my hair was that she was using too much product and told her to do it this way. At that point it was too late to stop, my hair was already bleached. I decided to just continue despite that red flag , I mean if her mother is coming over to tell her how to bleach my hair then wouldn't you be concerned? Then later in the process when she took off the foil I noticed that parts of my hair was bleached more than others. I was mortified but stayed quiet. I thought that maybe with the color it won't be noticeable. Then she came over asking me to pick a color scheme from a book for my hair. I was so confused in terms of what she was asking. I told her and showed her pictures of how I wanted it to be done in the beginning. She just said to pick a color and none of the colors look close to the color I wanted. She suggested a few colors but it was it wasn't any that I loved or the shade that I wanted. At this point I was confused because I thought that hair professionals mixed colors to get to a color that the client would want. Or know how to mix colors to get to get to different shades. I didn't know that there were shades already ready to go that you pick from a book and then that's how they color your hair. Like I said this is my first time getting my hair colored and I didn't know the process for it. This was not mentioned to me at all in the beginning before starting. If this was how it going to be then I would never have decided to get my hair colored. So I picked one of her recommendations because at this point it was too late to turn back. I did not like how my hair turned out. I even told her that and she suggested that to give it a few weeks and if I still don't like it then that she can tone it for free. Well more than a few weeks have gone by and I still hate it. I decided not to take her up on the offer for toning it down. She had lost my trust and once my trust has been lost then i could never go back. How can I trust her with my hair ever again? The only thing I liked was the haircut but the color was not what I wanted and I wanted to cry. I paid $295 for a haircut and ombre. It was expensive for something I did not like. I feel like I was cheated and now it's been a few months since this incident. I did not want to write this review but then again I was not at fault and I want to warn others and not have anyone else go through the horrible experience I went through. I do not reccomend Mychelle or this salon to anyone. She does not know how to color hair. She is a complete novice. The salon charges high prices for haircuts and haircolors. Not worth the dime. I made an appointment for a blow out while I was in town. Overall my hair came out okay. However,…read morethe experience wasn't what I typically expect from a blow out. A round brush was not used at any point my hair was washed and blow dried using hands, and a paddle brush was only used for my curtain bangs. A flat iron was later used to curl my hair. While it looked fine, a true blow out usually gives a very different feel and finish, so I was a little bummed, especially for the $60 price. This was my first time having a blow out done this way, I wasn't sure if this is standard here or just a difference in technique. For future lesson learned on my part, I'll be sure to confirm the styling method beforehand. In addition, the salon's cleanliness was disappointing. My appointment was early in the morning around 9:00 a.m. there were dead flies on the window ledge and hair left behind in the space. I would have expected the salon to be thoroughly cleaned either at closing or before opening. I'm mentioning this in hopes the owner can address it and remind staff how important it is to maintain a clean environment. We all clean our homes everyday right.
