During COVID19 they are accommodating customers by wearing masks and offering curbside pick up and walking out orders to people in their car while they're wearing masks. Unless you have something against fried foods I highly recommend supporting this local service group. The VFW building sits on a large grassy lot with many old oak trees providing wonderful shade and recreational opportunities to picnic, play horseshoes, enjoy a fire in the fire pit, or enjoy the cool breezes in the shade.

The house is new with all of the necessary facilities to accommodate ppl with disabilities. There is also a wing of guest rooms oriented at immunosuppressed guests. The house offers many services other than just lodging. 1 chef prepared meal/day, access to 24 grab and go food, indoor play and recreation areas and shuttle services to and from hospitals. There is also access to tickets to local attractions like zoo, city museum, magic house etc. The facility is beautiful, welcoming and an emotional shelter for ppl going thru the trauma of a sick child. I work as a volunteer at the reception desk a couple times/month but have been involved with the house since 1985 in one way or another!

It…read moreis off the beaten path and definitely on a road I do not travel, but that will not keep me from returning and supporting this local and family owned business. So many of our privately owned bookstores are struggling right now, so we all need to reach out and give them as much support as we possibly can. EyeSeeMe, fortunately has a special niche in the market. It has an extensive inventory of books written for and supporting the children of our African American community. Through their success, they now provide and offer books for high school student and adults as well. Today, I attended a virtual book reading co-sponsored by EyeSeeMe and was totally inspired. Before attending the event I shopped the store and picked up a couple of the books being read. Now that the event is over, I cannot wait to give them to a co-workers son. In fact, in the future, I will be doing a lot of gift shopping here for those hard to buy for friends on my list. It will be easy to find something for them here and it will be inspiring.
