Once you become a member they treat you like a part of the family. Scheduling is so easy and when you meet with the doc, his entire focus is on you. I am physically fit and active without major medical concerns so I was surprised to find out how much they could do to improve my well being. I have learned much about being proactive in taking better care of my mental and spiritual side-no weird sermons here or anything just great guidance- and I feel much better off for it. Over the course of a week, my husband and I left six separate messages with Dr. Johnson, trying in vain to get someone to help. Walgreens told us they had left numerous messages and sent faxes to his office, but no one would get back to them either. After giving up on the idea that anyone would fix this or even call me back, I came to the office in person. I said I wanted to talk to a nurse or someone who could resolve the communication problem with the pharmacy. I also wanted an update on a promised referral to a specialist. I was taken to the back and was surprised when the nurse took my vital signs. I explained I was just there to get some answers to some questions because no one would call back Walgreens or me. I said I wanted a hard copy of the prescription so the problem would be solved and I wouldn't have to rely on anyone to make sure it was done. She assured me that would be no problem and she'd take care of it. I also explained that I was heading out of state and asked her if I could get refills of my other prescriptions so I wouldn't run out while I was gone. The nurse said she would do some checking. After a few minutes, Dr. Johnson walked in. He repeatedly interrupted me to tell me everything I was asking for could be easily taken care of. I expressed some mild frustration that it had not yet been taken care of. The longer we talked, the more irritated he seemed to be, but he said he'd take care of the prescriptions. While I waited up front, someone brought me a refill for one medication. I continued to wait for the others, but, once again, nothing happened. I had to continue to ask and ask before anyone would help me. To my great surprise, I was also told that I needed to pay a $70 co-payment for my doctor's visit. I explained that I did not come in to see a doctor. I came in to get someone to talk to me and resolve problems not of my making. Someone (I presume was the office manager) came out and said I should have asked to see a nurse if that's all I wanted. I said that's exactly what I did! At this point, I was crying--no doubt a combination of physical pain, disrespect, and frustration. She said I was yelling, which I did not mean to do, I was just appalled that no one was listening to me. The manager continued to insist that I pay. She was not interested in what I was saying; she was only interested in the money. If I was not feeling so ill, I would have walked out. It is insane to ask a patient to pay for the privilege of coming in to try to straighten out a professional's negligence. Nevertheless, I paid while she went to get my other prescriptions. She returned to tell me she'd straightened out the mess at Walgreens, ignoring my request to have that prescription in my actual hand. She dismissed me, and I had to again remind her that I was still waiting on the third prescription. When she returned with it, I thanked her and left. No one said they were sorry. No one had any compassion whatsoever. It was by far the worst medical experience I have had in my life.

Also, Dr. Binamira does not charge a ridiculous sum that many of the Family Practice Doctors on Hilton Head Island charge for so called concierge service. The annual concierge fee from these other doctors can be $1,500 or more per year per person at the beginning of the year just for the ability to call these doctors for care. Of course these concierge doctors also find a way to charge insurance companies and Medicare for their services too.
