After visiting the Wild Life Sydney Zoo we wanted a quick place to stop for lunch. We stopped here based on someone's recommendations. It's a simple menu, so I ended up getting the tenders with a side of slaw. The chicken and the comeback sauce was pretty good. The coleslaw was fairly plain. Came here on the rainiest evening in Spring. The place was packed shoulder to shoulder as everyone was tucking into their after work dinners. Me and my two mates thought we'd never get a table but we remained optimistic and ordered our food/drinks. Our server, Alex, was the best! She was very engaging and helpful despite the chaotic weather and customer overload. I completely forgot about the thunder storm and downpour while talking to her. She deserved five stars just for all her hard work alone. As mentioned before there were no free tables besides a small two seater. However the staff were able to scrounge us an extra chair and we were able to sit almost immediately. We were all too happy to sit even if it was a little squishy. The food came out quickly. Their cooks must have been working like mad men/women in the kitchen. I ordered Southern style tenders with a side of fries (I'm a wimp, I can't deal with spice) and a draught beer. The chicken was moist and juicy. The skin was enjoyable but could have had a touch more flavour. The fries was fine. The Mississippi Comeback dipping sauce (which Alex recommended) worked superbly with both the fries and the chicken! All up it cost $26. Quite affordable for the meal and beer in the city right by the water. I'd come back here again, I might be brave enough to try the "medium" heat next time. read more

I rarely give a one star, but they need a director of first impressions. As I was sat at my table I was told they have no table menus but to scan a code to see menu or read takeaway menu on the wall. I was also told to order via the code. You dine out for a service and food experience not to follow orders and just have wait staff deliver food to table. This place is really good. Sits on the water with beautiful views of the boats and "people" strolling by. Plenty of seating for families too The food is great. The staff is friendly. Apple Pay, you gotta love the simplicity. The portion size is filling, especially the sides; not a little cup worth's but a real serving. They let you choose different sauces or they will give you a deal on 3. The Mississippi is like a chipotle creamy sauce. Beer Beer Beer here. They have pitchers and a special going on Sunday's. I'm not here to comment about the quality of food as it is subjective. I basically signed up to Yelp so I can provide a review for the terrible customer service I've experienced on this place. We encountered these two servers, one white guy and a chinese lady. Sorry cannot describe them more especially with their masks on. They were very rude, snobbish and unfriendly. They were very strict with the covid protocol which is good but the way they ask customers to sign up was really unbecoming. They treat us like criminals. "I want to see your sign up, show it to me before we seat you" and was said in a rude way. I did it and went away to allow my friend to sign up and the chinese lady server told me, "Hey, where are you going?", again in a rude way. I told her I am standing away to let my friend sign-in and then she told me, "I thought you are going to seat yourself". I get so irritated and told her, "What's your problem?" While we were eating, another customer left but forgot their wallet at the table. We called the attention of the guy who was cleaning the table but the reaction we got was, "Yes?" with a snobbish look as if we are bothering him. When he realised we just want to notify them of the wallet, he changed his tone and said thanks. They called back the customer and gave the wallet. They made us feel like we were privileged to get to eat there and wasn't thankful that we chose their place. I just hope they will improve their customer service for future customers. read more

I have been craving for fried chicken for months and Im glad i made the trip to Barangaroo to try this place. Had the southern fried chicken wings + old bay seasoned fries. YUM YUM YUM. So oily but yet so good. I am no fried chicken expert but these are so good, so crispy & tasty. Five big wings in a basket (they are huge!) - with tips and everything. The old bay seasoned fries was not too bad, mine was a little overseasoned today but im just being picky here. Craving satisfied! We chose Belles Hot Chicken to celebrate a most momentous occasion, and maybe that was our problem, we had expectations. Initially we were drawn by the bottomless brunch, and then on reviewing the menu we knew this was the place for our happy- go- lucky- chicken- loving- drink- slurping group. Oh, how wrong we were. We arrived at 1150 for our 12 o'clock reservation, appreciating the importance of punctuality in the hospitality biz. We were able to take the seats of our choosing right away which was a joy, and were asked to wait until noon to order. This gave us ample time to read the menu, assess the look of the meals around us, and make our final decisions. On approaching the counter we were greeted with a smile and a kind face, and were able to place our order with no trouble. Order 91, a number I'll never forget. Not long (well long enough) after we had placed food and drink orders a server brought us the first of our meals. As she announced what they were, we all looked around the table at one another, since no one had placed the order she had brought to us. She then returned to the kitchen, and came back with the same meals, but a new description for them - easy enough error. The first 3 meals were claimed. The next round came out, definitely not what we had ordered. But instead of again pulling the wool over our eyes, she placed them on the table explaining that this was the food for order 91, and promptly walking away. After the last of the meals came out and we could tell there was no room for discussion, we employed the table manners we were raised to have, and tucked into the random assortment of meals. This brings me to the first issue, why would you ask me for my order if you are just going to provide me with the cut of chicken and spice level that you deem appropriate, rather than what I actually want? As you continue to read I'm sure you're thinking "be grateful, you had fried chicken in front of you...just eat it and shut up". Well, you're not wrong...but what am I to wash it down with??? 30 minutes into the bottomless brunch and the only beverage I'd seen was a water I'd served myself! The first round of drinks arrived, unusually it was the second round that we had ordered. Had the first round been ignored, or had they chosen to serve us the second round first, in the same way they had chosen how much spice we could handle? The drinks went down, but the alcohol present in them was notably low. The next drinks came, 20 minutes later, and were sweeter and even less strong. At 1 hour into our 2 hour time slot we were sugared up, and sober as a plank. In our final hour we tried every cocktail on the menu, cmon, there were only 5. By that time we were being served jugs rather than glasses, which was perfectly acceptable, but made the drinks no more delicious nor alcoholic. At the end of our two hour bottomless brunch we were neither satisfied nor drunk and were left wondering just how spicy that 'really f*cking hot' chicken is. I've been coming here since it was a pop-up and now it's recently re-opened and got a bit bigger and a permanent spot in Barangaroo, so had to re-visit (and will continue to do so!). This is my favourite American style fried chicken joint. Unlike other places the flavour/spice is directly on the chicken. Thirsty Bird and Butter have the sauces on the side to add flavour but depending on what level of heat you choose, that's how the chicken pieces are actually made at Belles. You can choose from 5 levels from Southern (lowest) to Really F**kin Hot (5). I usually get Really Hot (4). This time I tried the Hot and it's just as good, and you don't get that burning feeling on your lips lol. Either of the two are fine, but I'd say go with Hot if you like spice and if you want it extra hot then go for the Really Hot. Really F**kin Hot is good but can be inedible if you're not used to it. The chips this time were a bit extra salty, but I'll forgive it as the chicken was really tasty. It comes with some gherkins as well and at the bottom a slice of bread. The quantity is really good, so even though you're paying close to $20, if you're like me you'll have some left over for the next day. I got the Drumsticks - which are massive, and chose Old Bay fries for the side, meal for 2 came to $35 (tenders for second meal). Had to wait 10-15 mins (came round 7ish) but that's usual here, will be good if they can go back to using the Hey You app so I can pre-order and just pick up! read more

And please do yourself a favor and DO NOT ORDER THEIR FRIED MUSHROOMS - nothing but oil leaking thru, couldn't eat a single bite.
