The parking garage is easy to navigate, there is an amazing sculptural piece outside the glassed eastern lobby wall, and the interior itself is open and inviting. There is a manned customer service desk which I really liked (these are a dying breed in many City halls, as many municipalities have cut these employees and services, due to budget cuts). I was transfixed by the travertine floor which is inlaid with a variety of multi-shaped materials in various images. There is clear signage where to get various licences and do various municipal businesses. There is a lovely cafe/coffee stand in the lobby, and it seemed to be a popular place. The only reason I did not assign 5 stars to this beautiful facility is because of the parking charges. Thankfully, they will validate your parking if you are there on any official City business or if you are attending a City meeting there. Otherwise, it's exhorbitant (I think the rate is $25 for up to 3 hours, if memory serves me correctly). Wow.

Layout wise, they have a decent size multi-purpose room with kitchen. It is big enough to have a low height stage, and its capacity is 150 guests. They have three conference rooms that also acts as meeting rooms or classrooms. These spaces are available for rent. The online link has photos of these spaces. A reception area with a few couches and a bookcase is just inside the entry. I have seen people, young and old on these couches, mingling, and just hanging out here at all hours. They offer senior activities during the daytime, as well as community classes throughout the day and evening. I have taken yoga classes as well as a stretching class. The class catalog is available online. Both Kirkland and non-Kirkland residents can sign up. During special occasions, they host bigger events for the greater community. The most recent is a Lunar New Year celebration with children's activities indoors inside the community center, the kitchen offered spring rolls to snack, the adjacent teen center building held performances, and a Chinese Lion Dance team entertained everyone outdoors on a beautiful day. It was a blast!

My only complaint is that most of the rooms require a fee to use. It seems that a tax payer funded facility should be free to use for those who already fund it. After walking around a bit we saw they had volleyball teams playing and offer swimming at the pool as well. We were able to take advantage of all they offer here for just $5 per person per day. There is a day use fee but they offer punch cards for regular use. The gym is huge. Has upper seating area. It is 3 basketball courts they place baby gates between for multiple classes. Jazzercise is going on at one end while my daughter has volleyball at the other end. The coach struggles to talk over the music of that other class. It is carpeted as well. They have lots of kid classes available here. And there are some classroom areas, so things like Tai Chi can happen in a less loud environment, but it's not perfect. There is a walking track around the gym upstairs but it costs to walk ....$3. I like this place b/c they offer classes my kids want to try. Younger kids have plenty of sports leagues to enjoy. They have a gym and you can get a good workout here without joining a gym elsewhere. It's nice when the community center is clean and offers a lot. We enjoy utilizing this place. They do not charge extra for non city residents like most of the cities around here.

This is a nice, modern city hall and sheriff's station for the City of Sammamish. Located in the…read more"downtown" area of Sammamish, the city hall is conveniently next to the YMCA, Sammamish library and is walking distance to three Sammamish high schools. The building itself is very nice, spacious and well-lit. You can tell it's newer with its modern design and layout, making it inviting for visitors. There are meeting rooms located inside, in addition to the chambers and usual city administrative offices. The city is also contracted with the King County Sheriff's office; thus, the sheriff's station located here. In the summer the Sammamish City Hall grounds will host the Sammamish Farmer's Market and other public gatherings, due mainly to its community-oriented location. Parking can be difficult, especially during events, as the lot is shared with the library; but the location is right off of the main 228th street.

The Cedar River Watershed Education Center is located just down the road from Rattlesnake Lake. I…read morecame here with a friend on the 25th of August 2018 to do some exploring and learn about the watershed in Western Washington. The presentation of information was well done. Some sections were also very interactive! When we entered one area we picked up a ball. We then proceeded through the area putting our ball in different tubes depending on what water pathway we wanted to learn about and the ball would levitate/flow to the next station corresponding to a next stop on the water cycle or something of the like. That was very neat! I could easily see spending a few hours here. We rushed it a little, but it was still fun. The graphics for understanding the local watershed were very cool. Videos complemented a light up topographic model of the area and we got to see where our fresh water supply comes from. There was also information available about individual water towers in the Puget Sound area and we found one of the ones we had both driven past growing up. Informational brochures and handouts were available with water quality reports and tips for different water related issues such managing storm water. A very enjoyable and informative place to visit.
