DO NOT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WORK WITH THIS COMPANY PLEASE They told me I'd be charged a prorated amount but be booked for 2 hours so that if the work was only 30 minutes I'd get charged only for the time they worked, they charged me the full two hours. ALSO they only sent one mover out when I droves an hour there and back to meet the movers, they then sent another team out later in the day and completely wasted my entire day and a lot of money. I do NOT recommend this business and they scammed me out of my money after I explicitly asked that I was only going to be charged a prorated amount and I was guaranteed to only be charged for the allotted time they worked. They were there from 12:50-1:06 and moved two pieces of furniture and I was given only a 10% discount for them wasting my whole day after only sending one moved out to do a two person job, in total I was charged $178 when I should have been charged less than $25 with the discount. I think that they need to wrap all furniture better and be able to break things down better. One of my bed rails was damaged during the moving process. Other than that everything was great. Brice & Lionel were great! No problems, very professional. I had a lot of heavy boxes so they definitely had a lot of work. I had tried to work with other movers but found it hard to get in contact and get an accurate quote. I contacted Bellhops only a couple days before my move and they were able to accommodate me on a Friday at the end of the month. I'm sure it was a busy weekend for moving. It definitely is more expensive than other movers, but it was a hassle free experience with excellent customer service all around. I got moved and I would definitely use Bellhops again! read more

I cannot thank my fellow Yelpers enough for making me aware of Bellhops. Recently, I moved from one downtown apartment to another (probably about 3 miles apart) and was in need of some help in doing some heavy lifting on furniture from my previous apartment. I was impressed with Bellhops and those who helped me throughout the entire experience. Zach and Nathan were awesome! I received an email the day before the move introducing the Bellhops and putting a face to the names of those who would be helping me. The morning of the move, one of the Bellhops contacted me to let me know he was on the way and the other arrived shortly after that. Both of them were about 10 minutes early. Both of the guys worked fast and were careful with my furniture. I will say I didn't think they were that strategic about packing the U-Haul (not that I would have done any better!) but everything still ended up fitting so not a big deal. They packed up one apartment, loaded it into the van and unpacked at my new apartment (this time having to deal with an elevator) in a little over an hour. I helped them out with some of the smaller items (which I was expecting) but I still was impressed at how quickly we got done and really appreciated them working hard. Each Bellhop is $40/hour plus tip. Booking online for the time and date you want is easy and you put a $1 down payment on the service prior to the move. As soon as the Bellhops clocked out, I received a text and an email asking me to review their work and that is when I was able to include the tips. I really liked how there were not any extra fees and that even though I had originally booked them for 2 hours, I was only charged for the amount of time they worked. I chose Bellhops over other companies due to the cost - at the time, I paid $40/hour/person with no additional fees (except tip), which was significantly cheaper than similar companies (College Hunks, etc.). They have a generous referral program as well (send me a message for a code, if you like!). I was pleasantly surprised by the work ethic and enthusiasm of the Bellhops who helped me move into my apartment. They're not professional movers, but they worked very hard and were cautious with my belongings. Our particular Bellhops were personable and even gave me recommendations of things to do in the city. The only reason they're getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because they were about 10 minutes late. As other reviewers have said, this is an awesome alternative to making your friends lug your stuff! read more

Our experience was wonderful. The movers arrived exactly on time, and they worked very hard to fit as much of our stuff into our extremely packed truck! We found Bellhops via Groupon. Before ordering, I called Bellhops to ask a few questions and unlike other companies, Bellhops didn't have any "hidden" or extra fees/charges, only a very reasonable travel charge. The customer service reps over the phone were very nice, polite and were able to answer all of my questions. I ordered the Groupon then booked the guys about 10 days out. Bellhops called me confirming the order just a couple days after. I got an email days before the move that introduced our Bellhops. The night before the move, the lead mover called again to confirm for the next day. Saturday came and our guys called before arriving and again when they were en route. We were very impressed how well they communicated and kept us in the loop. The guys arrived and went to work right away. They loaded from a 3rd floor walk-up in Whitestown then unloaded in Indy, 10 miles away in just 2 hours. Bellhops were very prompt, polite & extremely efficient. We could not be happier from the customer service line to the guys that helped with our move. We will definitely be referring them as well as using them again if needed. Pricing by 15 minute increment times is great even though my move only took about an hour so I just paid the minimum fee. 0 !!!BEWARE!!! In less than 15 min I knew this was a nightmare, & called Bellhops- no help/solution, but at least I went on record in beginning of this unknowingly LONG night! This was the worst moving experience I've ever had- horror-comedy! If it could go wrong, it did! 2 hrs late, SLOW inexperienced loaders & unloaders (I could've hired college students like they did, & for far less. I wanted/expected experienced movers, like Bellhops advertised.), junkyard looking large box truck (w cloth wrapped around wiper arm for wiper, holes in roof, no light in cab [so 1 mover would have to hold his cell phone light so the other could see to work], driver working under hood of truck whole time, truck had other ppls stuff in it [supposed to be empty]; including a mattress-YUCK!, had to wait 2+hrs for truck to arrive at new home w my stuff bc driver had to go get a license plate bc truck didn't have one on it [was told this explanation after I had been waiting at my new home a bit- really thought my stuff was stolen], truck broke down in my one lane driveway & said it'd be moved by 8am- finally towed off at 4pm! [this blocked any further moving we had to do that day, since we stopped them from moving anymore stuff bc too slow & eating time & money], most wood furniture was all scratched up & cpl pieces broke- - - need I say more?!) 1 positive: the 2 loaders & driver were nice & friendly, & thankful for the experienced driver who gave moving tips & straps to the beyond green loaders. You may ask why did we go through w it when they rolled up in a Sandford & Sons truck & clearly inexperienced movers (actually, loaders/unloaders- not movers; there's a huge difference!)... bc they had already rescheduled us, so our backs were against the wall since our home was sold. They had hinted they may have to cancel this day, but instead came 2 hrs late. I had a 777 sq ft 2 bd 1 bth single level home w a 2 car garage- moving to a single level home. They estimated 4 hrs- finally began at 5:15p & left my home 11:45pm & moved only 60% of what was estimated (but left their broke down, heavy truck sitting & blocking my driveway from any other deliveries until 4pm next day!) I supposedly got a discount & pd $300 for Bellhops to scratch & break my furniture, scratch my NEW FLOOR, loss of time & money bc truck blocked moving-in, & all the aggravation! $300 was their idea of a fair deal?! Even though our move took a little longer than was estimated (not surprised. We moved from a 3rd story apartment on killer stairs) the total price was well under what nearly everyone else had estimated. Quantify was great. I had zero worries and it was awesome to get to work on cleaning the apartment while these guys took care of the heavy lifting. If I could choose zero stars, I would. Scheduled move well in advance, confirmed via email and on the phone. Typed in special instructions as there were 3 stops included in this move. I was moving out of home I shared with my son and daughter-in-law. They were staying and needed some items moved downstairs and some upstairs. We then went to my new home to unload furniture items, pick up some additional boxes and take to a storage unit. Move Scheduled for 8 am Monday morning. Lead mover showed up with no help and no truck. Did walk thru of all that needed moved. Said he couldn't get a truck that day and would need additional movers. Office rescheduled for Wednesday. Same lead and 3 helpers showed up Wednesday (one of them late) and proceeded to let us know that all items couldn't get done that day due to time restrictions (even though same lead was there that did the walk through on Monday). Items that should have been loaded on the truck weren't and they only did half of the move my son needed. At new location they hurriedly unloaded furniture but would not load additional boxes due to time restrictions. Only took the boxes that were loaded from original location to storage area. Left my $1200 dining room table on the back deck (no covering). Broke a new $3000 reclining couch and a new $800 desk. Also now have scratches on the dining room table, broken picture frame, pieces broken off my bedroom furniture and mud on my new carpet. Movers did not wear face coverings. They were rude and acted like they were doing us a favor for every little thing they did. I'm 63 and had to take my dining room table apart on the deck in 30 degree weather. Myself and my 65 year old husband carried it (in pieces) into the home and I then spent two hours putting it back together. They wanted me to schedule a second move to move the additional boxes. My husband and I moved them in two cars (2 Trips) so as not to have to pay for an additional move. 63 years old and this is the worst move ever. I've had better results when I was younger with a pot of chili and case of beer. Although I did get some discounts, they were nothing like they should have been for the aggravation and broken items. What made this feel even worse to me was that the lead tech did a walk through on Monday and knew the extent of the move and that it would need extra time and that for a third time I went over everything with the move coordinator. I actually had listed every piece of furniture that was getting moved. This gave them absolutely no reason for their rude attitudes, unpreparedness, excuses and incomplete move. I will not recommend them and I will not ever use them again. read more

This company called me 20 minutes before my move was scheduled and cancelled. The movers "decided to be done after their second move of the day". This was especially frustrating because A) I called and emailed 4 times weeks in advance to ENSURE they would be able to make this date and time work (as it was the day my lease ended); and B) I was given 20 minutes notice to figure out something else on my own. They suggested they could do the move 3 days later. This is simply unprofessional and unacceptable for a moving company -- I had no where to go and no means of moving myself, as I was promised my move would be taken care of. If you are looking for reliability, I STRONGLY recommend going with another company. This is the first company that I have truly had a nightmare experience with; buyer beware. read more

The night before I was supposed to move all of my help was not going to be able to help in the morning. I did a quick google search and came across Bellhops, unsure at first I did some research and figured I would give them a try. I requested to have 2 movers for 1 hour the next morning. Not only were they able to accommodate my last minute request at 5:45 the night before they continued to figure out details until 8:30pm when a full team was assembled to help me. They both were prompt (15min early) to the job and didn't complain about moving stuff to a third floor apartment! Dexter & Calvin got the job done in 45 minutes! They had excellent attitudes and were hard workers. The price was decent, I feel bad that they don't make much of what I paid so I gave them a pretty good tip for their work! They have excellent customer service, and are pretty nice about accommodating last minute moves, which is why I gave them 3 stars. All three guys even showed up on time and were friendly. All 3 are college students. Here is why I wouldn't use them again in my particular circumstances. I needed a truck loaded to move from Indy to Chicago. I already had different movers lined up in Chicago to help me unload the truck. I know how much stuff I have, and requested 2 guys for 2 hours. I also had my brother and dad helping me. Bellhops don't know how to load a truck. They would be fine help for unloading a truck. Luckily my dad was able to step in and supervise loading and tying so I could be free to supervise the carrying out of stuff, and in what order to take it to the truck. Do NOT rely on the bellhops to load your truck correctly. (And in their defense, the service doesn't pretend their movers are pros, and say as much.) The service sent me 3 guys even though I requested 2. They said they thought my move would take longer than I estimated (they were wrong). It's $40/guy/hour. That meant $120/hour, which is more than professional movers charge in Chicago, and INCLUDES a truck. I had to rent my truck separately. When I lived in Chicago before, I had movers load the same amount of stuff into a truck they brought, drive the truck to the new apartment and unload it into a third floor walkup all in 2 hours. They charged $115/hour for 3 professional guys. Then I paid each a $20 tip for being awesome. Having the third guy for this move was not necessary. Two of the three were not very strong or much bigger than me, and needed me to give them specific directions, otherwise they just stood around. The other guy was awesome and motivated. You don't get to choose who comes to help you. I didn't need help with packing, but that's another service you could not depend on with these guys. That would be a bad idea. To summarize, I'd say only use them to help unload a truck or to move a couple pieces of heavy furniture. Just get 2 guys for $80/hour. They are nice, and will show up and do that job just fine. So disappointed! I called a little over a week ago. Set the date and time (3:00 pm). Thought I was all set up to have a stress-free day with professional movers who could handle everything. Day of: I missed a phone call at 11:00 am from Bellhops. They apparently weren't able to leave a message. I didn't call back since there wasn't a message. I get another call at 2:00, an hour before they are supposed to arrive. Jay told me that they would have to push my move back to 6:00 pm. That was not a problem. I understand things happen. Upon further discussion, we figured out that bellhops was not equipped to do my move. I explained all of the "special circumstances" when I called to set everything up initially. A few items needed to be moved over the balcony because they wouldn't fit up the stairs and that's the only way to get them in or out. I was expecting to pay quite a bit because of the circumstance. Whoever answered the phone initially clearly wasn't listening. Jay offered to find another company to help but I was able to find an alternative moving company quicker. This was a really unfortunate, stressful, unnecessary situation. I will recommend against this company to anyone who asks for suggestions. read more

I decided to buy through bellhop because I was thinking I was buying 3 movers for 3 hours of work for $450. Instead, I only got 1 mover for two and a half hours. Once we tried to get in touch with a manager he was very rude and unaccommodating. Finally, we agreed with him to be charged for only one mover and come to find out he still charged us $405! What a rip off. This was severely disappointing. We had to do most of the moving ourselves. Not to mention our mover didn't have a dolly or put our bed frame together. Who would buy a service through this company when there are plenty of other moving companies out there who do offer these services no questions asked? Lastly, when I made my reservation I was told it was not set in stone until someone called me to confirm. I never got a confirmation call so I ended up having to order a different moving company. Then, on moving day, a bellhop associate showed up at our house without ever calling us to confirm prior! We had to cancel our other moving company reservation in order to not pay for both. I've tried to get in touch with management and they seem to decline my calls. I will never recommend you guys to anyone. read more

If I could give this company a lower rating I would! First they took out my funds 48 hours before the move was even scheduled to take place. While on the phone with them to have my funds reimbursed they confirmed my move was for Saturday morning. I then received a message that evening stating my move was 12 hours later. I had to take off work and miss a day of wages due to this. I also had to pay an additional day on my new apartment and sign the lease a day early. The movers were almost 15 minutes late but clocked in 8 minutes early. While moving me one of the movers hit on me, making me highly uncomfortable. No woman should feel this way while moving alone!!!! They also damaged my old apartment, my $800 couch, $700 dresser, $150 entertainment stand, and $50 bookshelf. My move took longer than anticipated since I had four people that were going to help me on Saturday morning and could not get off work on Friday. They only want to reimburse me $.70 cents per lb my furniture weighs. And give me a small discount for the moving fees which I will now have to make payments on. DO NOT use this company!!! read more
