The move was very unprofessional. First thing, the movers were late and the truck and the driver were just sitting waiting. One of the movers was on his phone 90% of the time. He would stop to check his phone every time they dropped off an item to the truck. When we left to go to the drop off location, the same mover made a stop and we had to wait for 20mins just to start unloading. The second mover was small and was not able to pick up the sofa and other furniture. I ended up helping them lift to get the job done. What is the point of hiring movers if I have to help them lift the furniture. This experience was disappointing and very frustrating. The movers were 20 min late (they were actually fast and efficient when they actually started the job which is why I changed my review from one star to two stars just to be fair) The third party driver showed up an hour an ten min late to our second location (which was only 10 min away for our first location). I received the final invoice yesterday morning and was quite surprised to find out that Bell hops still wants to charge us for such poor service (they also added erroneous charges to our bill). I just might send them an invoice charging them for our time. The moving fees should have been completely waived because of such poor service. The move should have taken 2hr MAX! Overall satisfied with the service, but was highly disappointed when I paid for two movers and only one showed up. The whole point of hiring help was for my boyfriend and I to avoid the heavy lifting, and due to this glitch, we weren't able to. The one employee that did show up was friendly, professional and on time. Bell Hops is absolutely horrible. They hide behind Terms of Service which they simply ask that you review before the move. Deep down on about page 5 or 6, it states they are limited to $0.60 per pound and $2,000 max. Their college age people showed up to move my house 6 miles and I ended up with $7,000 in damage to furniture they did not wrap, protect or etc and they've offered me $450 as a "settlement" for 2 complete King Bedroom outfits (Bed, mattress ,box springs, night stands, dresser) a Queen bed, a couch and a dining room table. Nothing was covered or protected in the 6 miles / 2 hour move and now im left with $7,000 to replace read more

I am so glad I booked Bellhops to unload my moving truck! Yes, they are college kids, but they did not waste anytime getting to work. They were all very pleasant to work with. I supplied my own dolly, which allowed the guys to work faster. They were great at moving my furniture and maneuvering it upstairs around tight corners. We used Bellhops to move from two apartments into one. It was a great experience, the Bellhops were prompt, courteous, and flexible. They were eager to make sure that we were pleased with everything and happy to make accommodations as needed. Overall, they were very friendly and eager. More than anything, they just helped the job get done faster because they were extra strong bodies. But, I would caution against moving anything too valuable with them since they aren't professionally trained. read more

I was mostly fine with my selection of movers until I was charged close to $300 more than quoted. I assume this has to do with the time it took to complete my move, but their moving men showed up "without the right tools" to disassemble my king sized bed, which held things up considerably. My 58 year old MOM ended up taking the bed apart and putting it back together herself which blows my mind. I paid close to $900 for 3 guys to move me 20 minutes across town and not take or put my furniture back together because "they weren't told to bring tools." I will use someone else next time between the huge difference in price vs. price quote and the fact that when I asked what to do regarding the $2,000 bed and their lack of tools, the lead mover's advice was to "just leave it." Two of my three movers also made sure to let me know they had to be off by 6 "because they had plans." read more

Not Dependable. We booked a whole house move for a 4000 sf 4BR home on Oct 15 (moving 2 miles away). Crew lead and regional ops called separately to confirm inventory. Both advised would likely take more than one trip and possibly go beyond quoted time. I agreed to the overages. Crew showed up - said it was "a lot" and driver had a hard stop in the afternoon. Said he needed to call corporate. Next I know the crew left without even speaking to me. Called operations and they said my inventory was incorrect and could have crew out in a week. I advised I had to vacate the house that day as new owners were moving in that evening. No solution offered other than rent a UHaul and find friends and family to bail me out. THEN charged me $100 cancellation fee! We will see if I get this and my deposit back... Will be reporting to BBB and Attorney General. Horrid service all the way through. If the job is too big - say so and see what can be done (maybe move what you can at least?). Just leaving without so much as a conversation is unacceptable on all fronts. I got a quote from a reputable moving company and it was more than I expected. I thought Bellhops would be an easy and lower priced alternative. It was a few hundred lower in price but for a price! I was supposed to have 4 movers but 1 did not show. The move took 1.5 hours longer than expected. Almost every piece of furniture was scratched across the top or chipped along the side. My daughter's art desk drawer was completely broken. Shelf clips and even a shelf itself went missing. Nothing was secured well. The walls in my old house were dinged up pretty bad and they even scratched the wood floor in my hall. The stress of watching all this was beyond belief. I would not use them again nor would I recommend you using them. read more

Quite a terrible experience. While the truck showed up on time and the scheduling went smoothly, the rest was horrible. The movers discussed for over 45 minutes why they couldn't move some things and that the company doesn't pay their hospital bills. I received a call from the office to review the list of items 40 minutes after the start time. The list did not match with what was called in. We finally decided to get as much done as possible and the office would call back to schedule for the rest of the items. I've never received a callback or message from the office. They were slow moving people that talked a lot but very little action. I finally starting moving items myself into my own vehicle and when they saw that they seemed to pick up the pace some. The desks that were moved had an incredible number of marks and dents on them. This might have been avoided if they had used the blankets they brought. After about 1/2 of the items were moved they left and were never heard from again. Little pieces that broke or fell of such as a desk leg post and drawer dividers were left at the dropoff site. But not all of them, as I followed the trail of bread crumbs picking up the left over pieces. We used College Hunks to finish the job and boy were they hustlers and very enjoyable to have. Without being told of the experience with Bellhops, College Hunks ended up moving more than Bellhops at a lower price. Yes, Bellhops billed for the slow and lack of work time. Good luck to anyone that uses this organization. read more

Had a problem with one of my movers backing out right before the move. Had to do the first hour with only one person, but they didn't charge me for that hour and found someone to replace the missing mover. It is like an Uber for movers. It's a really smart idea and I am sure someone will buy the company out and take it public. read more

I had to move between apartments in the same complex (up 2 flights of stairs) and Bellhops was the perfect service for this! They were on time, fast, and very respectful of my things. They worked hard to get a particularly large couch out of a very narrow room (nearly impossible) and did so with only a few scratches. I have yet to have Bellhop provide the move, however, I want to post this review regarding the contracting and customer service. Be prepared to be charged more than the estimate provided over the phone when reserving their services. I am moving 1 recliner, a mini refrigerator, 3-4 small boxes and 4 bags of clothing. They estimated 2 hours with 3 workers but charged me for 3 hours. Be prepared for them to request monies earlier than told at the time of booking services, a 5% deposit (which they told me would be charged 2 days prior to the move) and the remaining balance, a few days prior to the move date (which they told me would be the day of the move). This will put a hold on your money with your bank. The due date for payments will be on the receipt they email you, they just don't use those dates. Finally, be prepared to be hung up on when you call the company. It took 3 calls to get through to the correct department and then, once I had the appropriate department on the line, they hung up on me when they did not like what I was saying. This company came highly recommended by my daughter and I am surprised by the treatment thus far. I am coordinating this small move from my brother, from a nursing home to an assisted living facility. I do not live in the state he lives in and thought the recommendation and national presence of this company would work out. If you are looking for professional telephone service, this may not be the company for you. I will post an update once the move occurs. I hope the movers will treat my brother with dignity and move his items with care. I have no reason not to believe this. read more

Showed up on time and were very efficient. However, they stacked everything in such a way that half of our totes were broken and about a third of our furniture was scratched/gashed. We moved ourselves last year and had probably 2 out of 50 totes broken and no furniture damaged. They should have taken their time and packed it more carefully. We were paying by the hour and gladly would have paid more to have it done correctly (and they would have made more). read more

Great service. Johnathan and Tony were fabulous. We were moving off the IUPUI campus. They were fast, efficient and professional. They showed up on time. Cleaned everything up. Took items I didn't want to the trash. They followed my directions to the letter. I found the price of the service to be fair and reasonable . I had a good but not great experience with Bellhops. As others have said, these guys are not professional movers--they are more like having your friends help you move. (Well, if your friends are young and have strong backs....) They were friendly, respectful, and accommodating. They were careful, but didn't exactly have expertise with moving, such as how to carry and stack things. They were easy to work with but not very efficient. They did not pack my truck very well--so we had to leave about one-third of my boxes in storage. That was disappointing. I had no large furniture, no couch, no dresser, only a double bed, a couple living-room chairs, and lots of boxes. It didn't seem that difficult. But I will need to hire 2 guys for a couple more hours and rent another truck to finish the job. All told, I saved money by the hour, but will take twice as long, so the economics just don't work out for me. I was surprised that they did not bring water, or snacks, or pain killers, or gloves for the 4 hour move. After about two hours they were getting tired, complaining of a backache, had a sliver in their hand and so on. I gave them lots of glasses of water, granola bars, and aspirin, which was not a problem, but I think they should have been better prepared. I will go with professional movers next time. read more

This company was horrible. I had them scheduled to move some large furniture from my brother's in-laws to my apartment at 8:00 a.m. on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, which also happened to be the first of the month. The night before the move at 8:30 p.m. (less than 12 hours before they were supposed to show up!), I received a message that the driver was unable to work the next morning. I immediately called back and was told that the driver had called out, but I could still have the movers to help if I rented my own U-Haul, and they would reimburse my for the cost of the U-Haul. I told them that there was no way I could rent a U-Haul for the next morning and have it at the first location by 8:00 a.m. I asked if they could get another driver and they said they didn't have one. I asked them what kind of company doesn't have backup plans in place because people call out and there was no response. I also asked if they knew of another moving company who might be able to help me, and their response was to read me the list of top movers on Yelp. I found the whole experience extremely unprofessional, as they inconvenienced not only myself, but my family who was helping me move, as well as my brother's in-laws. Thankfully, another moving company was able to squeeze my move in, otherwise I don't know what I would have done. I don't know how this company has so many high ratings. This is the worst moving company ever they lost a very important piece to my bed and frame now it cannot be put together. The manager Steven promised resolution and then said because I signed a paper that they did not have to wrap the furniture because I had already wrapped it myself that it was nothing that they could do. Then stated that the movers told them they left it at the other house which was not true. These are the same movers that convinced me to pay in cash because of extra fees to use a credit card then attempted to defraud the company by saying that they did not charge me the fee. Oh and they said it was against company policy to carry change. However the manager believes them. In addition to that he spoke bad to me about his own employees but now that it is time to fix their mistake they are great movers. He just told me they broke a number of rules and had I not called about the additional charges for the gas that I was not told about the company would have never known that their helpers as the manager referred to them broke multiple rules and were dishonest and would smile in your face to get some extra cash he was upset that one of the helpers called me to complain about me calling in about the extra fuel charge. I am so outdone by this move and now my bedframe will not reconnect their unprofessionalism just ruined my bedroom suite and they do not care. Somehow this is all my fault and I paid them loose and destroy property. read more

Bellhops was recommended to me by a friend when I needed to move my Mom from one apartment to another inside Assisted Living so she no longer had an outside entrance. I was unable to be there for the move as I had to take my Mom for an eye appointment and we wanted to make sure she was not disturbed by the move so it all was to happen while she and I were gone. Jeffrey W was the lead from Bellhops and he texted me the day of the move. He was very understanding of the situation and very kind, agreeing to meet a friend who was coordinating the move in my absence.
