Huck and Paddle completely breaks the mold. The whole shop is curated (and I use that word intentionally) from a very unique perspective. It is filled with interesting objects, large and small. Inevitably, one of these objects will strike your fancy and demand to be taken with you when you leave town. The owner is delightful, and is committed to her aesthetic. We got to discussing some items I thought would make sense in her store, and she immediately got online to see what I was talking about. Oh, and she has something for everyone. My absolute favorite was the seasonal offering of a strawberry-rhubarb tart. I cannot say how much I loved this pastry. It was perfect from the filling to the crust. The filling didn't taste like it had any added sugar and the strawberries served as the sweet to the tart of the rhubarb. The crust was light and you could see the layers that were just firm enough but melded perfectly with the pie filling. There was a brown sugar oatmeal and butter crumble on top that added all the sweet you need. I wish I could eat this every day and will come to visit every time I am back this way just for the chance to savor this perfect pastry again. Thank you!
