Omg where do I begin!?? Ladies and gents if you're looking for a talented photographer look no further!! Karen is hands down the best!! I was 8 months preggo, literally 3 weeks before my due date, and I was able to do my maternity shoot and got BEAUTIFUL photos. The gowns guys!!! The gowns are what sold me but after meeting the entire Belly Beautiful Team, I fell in love with them!! Why??? Well let me tell u:: 1) They're responsive to emails, calls, any questions you have. 2) They give you recommendations on what to wear and how to dress it up. 3) Don't know how to work it in front of the camera?? They tell you how to pose and how to smile, where to look, and literally every other detail you can think of like how to hold your gown and where to hold your belly. 4) They provide snacks if you're hungry 5) Karen used to work with newborns so she is very educated on what not only us mommas to be need, but what our newborn needs too. One thing I'm so appreciative of is the fact that they go above and beyond for customer satisfaction. I specifically had an inspiration pic that I absolutely loved and they literally spray painted their couch to recreate my inspiration picture. I was amazed and soo excited. The pictures were literally identical!! We were blown away by our maternity pics so much that we hired her for the newborn session as well. And I'm so glad I did!! Karen did an amazing job for my maternity photos. She rescheduled me due to covid for maternity photos and then we came back when restrictions lifted for the newborn photos. She made me look and feel like a GODDESS. She was so kind over the phone and accommodating. My newborn photos came out better than I could've imagined. It was an exhausting day, and she put so much effort into photographing to capture the special memories for us. Found Belly Beautiful on IG, fell in love w/ her style, & everything about her pics! Scheduling the shoot was easy & was able to fit my baby in 8 days after she was born. The actual shoot was a breeze & didn't feel rushed or long at all. I enjoyed the whole process! We have used Belly Beautiful for all 3 of our precious little ones. Every single time the whole experience is amazing. Karen, Sammy, and all other helpers are always so sweet and pay SUCH close attention to even the tiniest details. My first born was not an "easy" baby from the beginning, and I had a low milk supply so our photos were still when I was working hard to increase my milk. Karen and everyone made me feel RELAXED while my first born was crying and they HELPED with issues him and I had. (No one gave unsolicited advice. I welcomed the advice and appreciated it!!) Our second born came in October and I LOVE the grinch, and therefore my little ones do too. Karen had a whole grinch set up for us, including a background, outfit, and tiny grinch doll. It was even better than what I could've pictured! For my most recent we had our whole family of 5 in the studio. Everyone was so very patient and welcoming of the little ones. And still have such attention to our family photos, even though we had a long set up of newborn photos as well. The photos come back so gorgeous and I enjoy the whole experience. Even amidst this Covid-19 era I felt very safe and felt like Karen and her team were doing everything they could to make me and my little one comfortable and protected. I came in for newborn pictures of my son and the pictures were everything I hoped for and more! We were not going to hire a newborn photographer, but I am glad we decided to go with Karen Marie. We had a great experience. Karen and her team are so patient and careful. Our little one was not cooperative with the photoshoot and they were so patient, gave her time to calm down... and after spending all day with us. She still brought us back a second day to try again. The second session, the little one was just as difficult and we were so ready to quit, but the team was not ready to throw in the towel. They captured our vision and made it very special. I am so happy with the images of our little one, even after how hard it was to get her to sleep. Karen knows what she is doing and how to do it well. I'm very bummed to have to write this review and in fact was going to not do this after a very negative interaction but Karen felt the need to send a scathing email to me even though our transaction had already been completed. Karen initially came to me highly recommended by a mom group I am in. I then did further research and will admit I was blinded by the buzzfeed and viral photos. I made an appt and was thrilled to find out they would be available to do my newborn photos. My husband and I went to our consultation and to our surprise we did not meet with Karen except for a brief hello. Instead her partner Sammy met with us and went over the packages. I didn't hesitate to drop the booking fee of 150 because I had decided long before I showed up that I wanted Karen to do my photos. I was then unpleasantly surprised when I called the studio to confirm time and date that they had booked me with Sammy instead. I really did not care for this because I had came to belly Beautiful Portraits specifically for Karen and never was I told Sammy would be doing it. To their credit they did rearrange for Karen to do my session. Fast forward to covid lock down. It's now about two weeks from my photoshoot date and I find out via Instagram that the studio is shutting down. I reach out to Karen to see if I will get my deposit back and she stated we would wait and see as we were hoping the shelter in place would be lifted by March 30. Today (April 6), I get a phone call from somebody named Eric who identifies himself as the owner of the company and Karen's husband. He tells me that they are putting everyone interested on a waitlist to reschedule for after April 30. I told him this wouldn't work for my family because we are moving out of the area mid April and asked if I could have my deposit back. He then said it was only 150, insinuating that the value was not enough to even want back and reminded me I had signed a non refundable agreement. I acknowledged this but stated I didn't cancel on them and i also understood they didn't ask for a pandemic to happen. Honestly I get that small companies are struggling right now and I would have let it go but Eric mentioned first that he would put me on a do not call list and second he would talk to his insurance company and get back to me before my April 30 to see if a refund was possible. This is how we left off the conversation. No later than 5 minutes after I get off the phone, Eric calls me back. This time I also hear a woman's voice in the background. I can't tell exactly who she's talking about but can only presume it's me when she says "just do it and be done with them!"... meanwhile Eric is on the phone completely unprovoked from me telling me "we are going to refund you, I hope you're happy, you won". This didn't sit well with me but he was refunding me and I was going to leave it at that. At this point I considered writing a review but honestly the refund came so quickly I was going to let it go. Imagine my surprise when not 30 minutes later I get a very unprofessional and scathing email from Karen herself, claiming I was threatening her business, and telling me to never call her studio again! ... Karen I hate to state the obvious but after multiple bad interactions that I chose to ignore along the way because I was so blinded by your viral photos, the last thing I want to do is tdo business with you. From a Zoom consultation to see if we would click and going over the process, to checking in around the time I was supposed to be have had our little pumpkin, they have been 200% professional and warm. I had the most INCREDIBLE experience with Karen the photographer and her team Lisa and Miranda. I went in at 33 weeks pregnant for my maternity shoot as a first-time mom and the experience with them was amazing from the beginning. The consultation was clear and concise. They laid out the process and pricing and booking my appointment was very easy. On photoshoot day, everything ran smoothly. They were so sweet! They accommodated me and my needs as a very far along pregnant woman. If I needed snacks, water, the restroom, etc. I was taken care of. They made me feel so beautiful. It's a pregnant woman's dream! We called to get a quote on how much it would be to get newborn photos done in which the price quoted was $300. We thought ok that's great! But they should also state what the baseline price is for what is required. The initial amount quoted was just for the photo session itself. Probably the best photographer in maternity and newborn photography. My shoot was beyond beautiful! She knew how to get me in the perfect positions and was great about taking care of me. She was more flexible then I thought and I got a hold of her easily through email and phone calls. I felt catered too! I thought I would only have Karen do my maternity and newborn but now I find that she is the only photographer I truly trust and provide an excellent service. She is creative and respected my wishes when I wanted to add elements of my Native American culture. Because of Karen, my labor and birth was less traumatic. While going through my proofs she educated on her experience as a labor and delivery nurse. I'll never forget her telling to always expect that your birth plan doesn't always go as plan and be prepared for anything. I had an emergency c section and my recovery was much better than anyone suspected because I remember Karen telling me her experience. I feel the one bad review isn't legitimate. I have been following Belly Beautiful Portraits for a long time and always knew I wanted to go to them for a newborn photo session. I am now an expecting mother and was so excited to reach out to them. Unfortunately, it has been so difficult to even schedule their free consultation. I submitted an online inquiry in early October and did receive a prompt email with their contact number and a link to a profile or website that allows me to reply to them of my availability. So, I responded on their website portal with my available time and day and asked which Friday would also work for them. No response for several weeks. I tried calling them twice, no answer. I left a voicemail with my callback number, no follow up. I finally got a hold of someone last Friday and the gentleman on the phone said I would be receiving a callback this past Monday. NO CALL. It has been a month since my initial inquiry. I don't know if this poor service is due to the new talent management... but needless to say I am extremely disappointed. My sister had reached out to them when the previous owner/manager was still running this company and said she was the sweetest. If I could give zero stars I would. I had an appt for a consultation at 715pm yesterday night. They don't work weekends unless it's for something out of town. I don't feel comfortable driving far distances in the dark especially while pregnant. As we all know, with the time change it gets REALLY dark by 530/6pm now. My spouse was weary about it as well but had to go to work so he could not attend the appt with me. Anyway, I'm not from that area so it took me a while to both get there AND find the place. The place is literally attached to some apartment complexes. So the further down I drove the more lost I became. Finally, I walked up a flight of stairs to find the place. I walked up to the door about 708pm and to my surprise NO ONE WAS THERE! I tried calling over and over again but no one picked up. I had a meltdown right there on their stairs. (Hormones, but I'm sure you can still understand my frustration) this was a waste of gas and time. They were my top pick for a maternity shoot. Now I'm going back to square one to find a new place that I can fall in love with. Maybe this was a blessing is disguise though. I'd hate to book a whole shoot just for no one to show up ! read more

Karen is a talented photographer! I was privileged to win a free maternity photo shoot and I was thrilled to see the results today of my photos as I chose which I liked. With my previous pregnancies I was too shy to do a maternity photo shoot, but I really wanted to do a photo session at least once in my life. I came to the conclusion that this is definitely the way each pregnancy should be celebrated! Hair, makeup and dresses were done in studio as well, so I basically just showed up and Karen and her team did the rest! She is a humble person with a love for photography and she made sure that I was comfortable with all the poses and the dresses. The reason I am giving them 2 stars is due to the fact that my wife scheduled an appointment with them for a consult and when she arrived for the appointment no one was there for the appointment. The fact that your running a business and cannot seem to communicate with customers is completely unacceptable. I did however get in contact with the husband of the photographer and he did manage to fix the issue and reschedule the appointment. I do feel that they do great work with the photography, but I also feel that their professionalism needs a little bit of work. Following the appointment my wife submitted a yelp review and in response to that yelp review the husband happened to call my wife's phone at 8:30 at night. She hung up on him because it was very awkward and uncomfortable for her and he called back 2 more times. I spoke with him in regards to that and he was trying to figure out if there was anything they can do to get my wife to take the yelp review down, and he also offered up dinner to make things better. Doing things like that is very unprofessional and it's very uncomfortable to many people. As I said the professionalism needs a little work and I do feel like calling a previous customers phone in regards to a yelp review is unacceptable. I do understand it's a small family owned business, but that is what comes along with running a business. There are good reviews and bad reviews and you just accept them as they come and you just do not call the customers and almost try to bribe them to take down a yelp review. read more

First, I'll start by saying--I do like Karen's work. Her pictures are phenomenal. She's a good photographer, however I didn't have the best experience with her, personally. Karen was very rude to my husband and I. I feel very cheated. We had so many misunderstandings. When we had our first consultation and met with Karen, it was very short. We never got to ask many questions nor were we given much information. The form that she gives to fill out, pay, and book was kept by her assistant, Michele; because my husband and I wanted to view a few other studios, so Karen and her assistant communicated to us that we can call and come back when we are sure we want to continue forward. A few weeks later, my husband and I decided to go with Karen, so I gave her a call to reschedule to come back in and meet with her again, discuss, and book our session. Instead of rescheduling us, her assistant told me that there was no reason to reschedule. I could pay over the phone to hold my maternity session and newborn session with Karen. She left us misinformed on how to prepare for our maternity shoot, and got upset when I emailed or called with questions. I was emailed with helpful tips, what to do, and how to prepare for our newborn session, which I appreciate, and feel had I received how to prepare for my maternity session, it would have definitely minimized my questions. What I didn't appreciate is how she removed my Linea Nigra line from my belly in my maternity shoot when I verbally communicated to her when proofing that I wanted it kept. I emailed Karen due to a misunderstanding we had with my maternity photo's, and I received no response. I let a week and a half go by because I am aware that she has many clients and newborns to take care of other than me, but I still received no response, so my husband and I went to speak with her because it was important to us that we have a understanding especially before we bring our newborn to her. At the time, I was still pregnant and my husband and I were keeping my 12 year old, triplets (siblings) for the summer. Karen called my family "a group of people" and she didn't like that I came with them to her studio. I felt like that was very uncalled for and disrespectful. They are kids....All in all, I only wanted my maternity and newborn session/photo's to be everything. It was a new experience for me given this is my first baby, and I wanted it to be exciting, fun, and comfortable. Karen should definitely start working on getting to know her clients if she doesn't know them. For our newborn, her session went great! However, when it came time to pick up our newborn order, that was another story. Karen had 3 printed pictures for us. We loved them. On one photo, however, we noticed that our newborns hair was lighter than its original color. My daughter has dark brown hair. Karen, edited my newborns hair as a very light golden/blond color and said it was due to lighting. My husband and I didn't like the color much on our newborn, so we asked her politely if there was anyway she could just change the way she edited her hair. Karen got mad, snatched the photo out of my husband hands, and ripped it up. I was puzzled. (?) She told us that we were criticizing her work. How? All we asked for is to have our newborns hair color original, and not edited that way. Karen is very rude, too sensitive, impolite, and very unprofessional. I didn't like the way we were treated, and we paid such good money to her. She told us that if she changed the lighting of my daughter's hair color that it would mess up the whole fairy princess theme. She emailed me the fix to our newborns photo a day later, and my daughter's hair was its original color, and no lighting was changed. It was very upsetting to see our newborns image being ripped in front of our face because we truly loved our newborn image. We only asked Karen if she fix our newborns hair to its original color. It's a must to be professional at all times, and truthful...you're working with pregnant and postpartum mother's. I wouldn't recommend anyone I know to Karen, and I am very happy to never book another session with Karen again. read more

Our initial experience was not great. Unfortunately Karen had an emergency and our newborn/family appointment had to be rescheduled. Since we live three hours away from Belly Beautiful, changing the date was not an option. We just had to come in later that day. Luckily they did have another photographer who was willing to do our session that evening. He and his assistants were very patient with our cranky kids. It was already late in the day and the kids obviously were not going to get any better. The photographer offered to let us come back another day to try to get additional shots of the kids but again we're three hours away, so not an option. The reason I'm not giving five stars yet is we were not able to get as many poses as I had hoped but the shots they did get were AMAZING! The customer service is exceptional. We will be going back for Christmas photos next year! I can't wait for them to capture my kids when they're actually in good moods. That'll be five star for sure! read more
